it's almost funny if it wasn't so fucking cute.
he's just lying there, mouth open, eyes so wide they look glassy. not moving. not breathing right. his hands hover over your hips like he's scared to touch you.
you're the hottest thing he's ever seen and he's afraid he would burn if he touch you.
you roll your hips down slow, and the only sound in the room is his shaky little exhale and your voice. he's so quiet. no dirty talk, no growling. just these soft, punched out moans every time you sink onto him.
"youâahhâokay baby?" you ask.
he nods all dumb, lips parted, eyes locked on where your bodies meet, then back up to your tits and face. his mouth moves but nothing comes out. then you clench around him, just a little, and his whole body jerks. his eyes roll back and he's cumming with this broken, high pitched whimper.
you're just too beautiful and he's too in love to hold it.
"ughh fuckâ" he gasps, face red, hands finally gripping your waist. "prettyây-you're so prettyâso p-pretty"
he's trying. he really is.
so just smile down at him and run your fingers through his hair. tell him he did good. he'll blink up at you all teary, still hard somehow, and whisper that he loves you.
he loves you more than anything.

Nothing tea won't fix
Summary: you have a late night snack outside, because the fight left you without dinner.

Yelling in the house in the woods continued for at least an hour. It all happened suddenly, with no warning. A simple disagreement escalated into a massive scandal with the speed of an avalanche. Accusations, insults, grievances, words they couldn't take back. And you listened to every single one, taking everything said to your heart, as if it were addressed to you. At the start of your boyfriends' argument, you retreated to your bedroom, but you heard everything.
Two hours and 37 minutes had passed since the last door slammed. Outside the open window, it was completely dark, somewhere far owls and wild ducks chirped faintly. You still hadn't gotten up from the floor, sitting with your back to the door, hugging your knees. The tears had long since dried, and that blissful feeling of relief and indifference that comes after a good cry had set in. Somewhere inside, you were angry that the boys had let all their pent-up emotions spill out like that, but you'd had time to convince yourself it wasn't your fault. After all, you'd been nothing but a bystander in this catastrophe, and your timid attempts to reason with your loved ones had resulted in all three of them lashing out at you. You couldn't help but wonder what Simon would do: join in the argument or nip it in the bud?
Ghost was supposed to be the last to arrive at your country house due to circumstances that kept him late at work. Maybe it was a good thing he didn't see it. You felt lonely in the silence, and yet, all the raging feelings inside you were overshadowed by one thing.
Hunger. You'd missed dinner.
Meal had been forgotten in the moment of confrontation, and you wouldn't have felt comfortable sticking your nose into the living room storm to sneak into the kitchen and, as if nothing had happened, start frying eggs.
You stood up, testing your weight on your own two feet. Carefully pressing the doorknob, you stepped into the spacious living room. The glass doors were uncurtained, the trees beyond swaying in the wind, casting long, crooked shadows. You stepped softly, avoiding the floorboards you knew would creak. Kyle decided to spent the night on the couch in this very room where the argument had taken place. He was curled up on the couch, covering himself with his jacket, his breathing alternating between loud sniffles and soft snores. Guided only by the faint moonlight and muscle memory, you found the kitchen doorway.
The refrigerator greeted you with a friendly artificial glow, illuminating your face. The shelves were full of ingredients, but almost nothing edible: no leftovers, no snacks, no processed foods. You put a boiled egg into your pocket, tucked an ancient jar of pickles under your arm, and grabbed a box of crackers forgotten on the counter. There was also a can of anchovies, but you weren't that desperate, so you closed the refrigerator and tiptoed outside in your underwear, slippers, and a sweater twice your size.
The night was warm, the kind that late summer offers often, but the wind blew a chill. You walked along the path to the backyard, branches of the fruit trees tangled overhead. You reached up and plucked a large apple, nearly breaking the jar of pickles in the process, and put it in your pocket with the egg.
A cozy old gazebo stood among the wild blackberries and rhododendron bushes. The build looked gracefully aged and even a little neglected, but you knew for sure that the inside was clean, warm, and, most importantly, treated from insects. You laid out your impromptu picnic on the table in the center and sat cross-legged on the bench.
There was something very sentimental about this setting. You couldn't tear your gaze away from the starry sky above, like diamonds scattered across dark velvet. Thoughtfully arranging them into constellations, you listened to the chirping of cicadas and the occasional chatter of nocturnal birds. A pickle crunched between your teeth. Girl dinner at it's finest.
A strange sound shattered the idyll. You tensed for a second, listening intently. Footsteps: long and heavy, yet quiet. Your shoulders relaxed as you unmistakably recognized the owner of that gait. At first, the footsteps retreated past the gazebo, but they hesitated and returned warily, as if suspecting something strange.
Simon appeared at the threshold of your truly royal snacking. He hid the view to the constellations, still wearing his work uniform and a simple black balaclava. The man looked puzzled.
"Hello, baby," you smiled, your eyes sparkling with joy. You took a generous bite of apple and immediately grimaced, setting the fruit asideâit was unripe.
"What's goin' on, lovie?"
His shoulders were tense, eyes warily scanning his surroundings. He was expecting a catch, a problem that had driven you out into the wild in the middle of the night. You shrugged.
"Nothing, just having a snack."
"Where are the others?" His voice was strained.
"Sleeping," you replied casually. Simon took a step inside, ducking his head under the wooden arch. He sat down next to you, took off his jacket, and covered your shoulders.
"Speak."
You snuggled deeper into his jacket, the fabric was soaking with his warmth and the scent of his aftershave. Taking a pickle out of the jar, you admitted sullenly.
"They had a fight. There was no dinner," you tried to say casually, but your eyes burned traitorously from the echo of hurtful words spoken to you in the heat of a moment.
"You haven't ate?"
You whispered, "Didn't want to leave my room."
Simon's jaw tightened, he sat silently with his arms crossed over his chest, staring at the floor with an angry frown. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat. Glancing at him warily, you moved closer, questioningly tugging at the hem of his balaclava. Ghost immediately softened when his gaze met yours, and he pulled his mask off his head. With one hand, he gripped your bare thigh and pulled your leg over his, making you straddle him. Surprised, you braced your hands on his chest for balance.
"What was the fight about?" He asked, now calm, his breath tickling your lips.
You lowered your gaze, settling more comfortably on his lap. "It's a small thing, really, but a long explanation."
"Luckily for us, I'm not goin' anywhere," he tugged the hem of your sweater lower over your exposed thigh. "I need to know how dysfunctional my household gets when I'm not here."
"Don't call it that," you pouted.
"Whot?"
"Dysfunctional."
Simon cupped your face and placed a soft kiss on your temple. "Deal. Now start talkin'".
You wanted to feel guilty for being a snitch, but the hurt still lingered inside. It hurt you that your cozy little world had been cracked, and you had to address it somehow. Even if you tried to hide something or smooth things over, Simon saw right through you, and it was essential for him to know every motive and every line.
When every detail of the disaster came together, you fell silent, catching your breath. A thoughtful crease formed between Simon's brows.
"Are you mad?" you whispered.
"Why would I be mad at you, sweetheart?"
"Don't be mad at them either."
The request softened his expression. Ghost slid one arm under your butt and wrapped the second one around your waist. Before you could react, he stood up and carried you out of the gazebo.
You weren't about to object. Your body went limp, pliantly clinging to the heat radiating from his strong chest. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pressing your cheek against his cheekbone.
"Are you still hungry, love?" Ghost asked quietly. You shook your head.
"No. A bit thirsty, though."
"Want some tea?" His fingers squeezed the hair at the back of your head comfortingly, taking a moment to massage your scalp.
You hesitated: you really wanted something warm to drink, but the kettle and the clatter of dishes would probably disturb the boys' sleep...
"I'm good," you mumbled into Simon's shoulder. He gave you a sceptical hum and, with you in his arms, stepped inside the house.
It was obviously quiet. Johnny was snoring upstairs, Kyle had rolled over on the living room couch, and John had left the light on in his bathroom.
Simon carefully sat you down on the edge of a kitchen counter, you stopped him for an extra kiss. Without breaking the contact, he put the kettle on the stove, and it slowly began to hum.
"What are you doing?! You'll wake everyone up!" You gasped, but Simon silenced you with an extra peck.
Ghost turned on the lamp over the counter, illuminating the small island where you sat. He made a point of loudly clattering the dishes and slamming the drawers and cabinets.
"You wanna hear a joke?" Simon asked, without lowering his voice.
You swung your legs in the air, sitting on the edge of the counter next to the sugar bowl he was filling with white crystals.
"Only if 'half of a dog' isn't part of it," you grinned.
"Mm," he shook his head to hide his amusement, "every good joke has that part."
You heard creaking of the sofa in the living room, but then John appeared in the doorway. He looked tired, the skin under his eyes reminded of dark crescents in the dim light. He looked around the kitchen with confusion.
"You're back," he registered hoarsely. "What are you doing?"
Simon stood with his back to John, focused on slicing bread. He didn't hesitate for a second before replying, "Makin' our woman some tea since y'all were too busy for a proper dinner."
You looked down at the floor, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. Kyle's buzz cut appeared behind John.
"Couldn't you have been any louder?" He rubbed his eyes sullenly.
You blushed, glancing sheepishly at Simon. The man looked as unbothered as they get. He placed a basket of sliced ââbread and bagels, a plate of ââcheese and ham, and a freshly filled teapot on the table.
By then, the kettle on the stove had boiled and began whistling so loudly that you grimaced, but Ghost, for some reason, ignored the noise. When it became clear Simon had no intention of removing the kettle from the fire, you made at attempt to climb down from the counter, but he nonchalantly sat you back, as if you were a doll.
"Si, the kettle..."
"I know, baby, thank you."
Kyle and John exchanged glances. Your boyfriend seemed to be waiting for something as the whistling grew louder and louder.
But about 20 seconds later, a crash was heard on the second floor, as if something heavy had rolled down the stairs. Johnny burst into the kitchen, pushing aside his two men at the entrance. He looked comfortably rumpled, squinting against the light in the room. The strands of his mohawk stuck out wildly in all directions.
"What in a fooking Mad Tea Party is goin on?" He pouted, rubbing the back of his neck.
Simon didn't answer, but removed the kettle from the heat and poured boiling water into five mugs on the table. "Put your arses in place, the water's gonna be cold."
In a surprised silence, everyone sat down at the table. Your stomach growled, and you hoped the others didn't notice. Johnny, Kyle, and John glanced at each other warily, you watched their tense muscles and stiff movements.
"John."
Simon raised an eyebrow, and Price looked at him questioningly.
"I believe you could have stepped in as the responsible one and expressed your regret for what happened earlier."
"The responsible one, my arse," Soap rolled his eyes.
"Johnny!" You chided him quietly, and he obediently fell silent.
Price ran a hand over his face with a loud sigh. He paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "I didn't want this to escalate into a conflict. I should have addressed the matter more calmly in the first place."
You extended your hand across the table, and John took it without hesitation, intertwined his fingers with yours, squeezing gratefully.
Kyle pursed his lips, clasping his hands tighter. This didn't escape Simon's notice, he nodded toward Gaz. "You're next, sweetheart."
"I... I'm sorry for... I shouldn't have said what I said," he took a shaky breath and looked at you from under his eyelashes. "And I don't know why I snapped at you, dolly, I didn't mean it, I'm sorry."
You smiled at him and wiggled your fingers for him to place his hand on top of yours and John's on the table. He did.
The four of you turned your heads to Johnny, who was stubbornly staring at the steam above his mug of tea. He frowned, defiantly silent.
"Johnny," you said softly, "no one here is mad at you."
It made Soap's lower lip tremble. He angrily wiped his eyes with his fist and slammed a hand on top of yours. Simon covered that tower with his warm palm, making it complete.
"Ah still love ye all, unfortunately," he choked. A chorus of similar words poured out in response.
Kyle asked impatiently, "Whose bed are we sleeping in tonight?"
"Mine!" You squealed. "And I'm sleeping in the middle!"
All five of them rose from the table, not moving more than a step apart.
"You always sleep in the middle," John smiled.
"I'm asserting my dominance," you yawned. "Just in case something's changed."
Simon turned off the kitchen light and smirked to himself, "Nothing's changed for us."

yearner!simon riley who, when he first saw you strut into Task-141, genuinely forgot how to breathe, and something strange and almost painfully familiar settled over him, and before he could even understand why, one thought surfaced in his mind, She's the one.
and before you ask no it was not love at first sight â because that shit was impossible, or at least that's what he'd always believed, but the moment his eyes landed on you, something deep in his gut told him, I've been looking for her, and that feeling was recognition.
he didn't know where the feeling came from, only that it felt less like meeting someone for the first time and more like finally finding someone he'd been searching for without even knowing he was searching. and the more he got to know you from afar, the more that impossible feeling made sense, and he realize, you were brave, stubborn, and willing to throw yourself into danger for the people you loved.
you had that reckless kind of courage that made him want to drag you out of harm's way while simultaneously making him admire the hell out of you, and then came the moment that truly confirmed it for him, he was sparring with you completely caught off guard by the way you moved, when his breath hitchedâand you actually beat him, and for the first time, losing didn't feel like losing to him, and there was no frustration, no bitterness, no familiar sting of defeat, instead, as he stared at you grinning like you'd just handed him a victory, and just then Simon realized something that terrified him. He'd won.
Because he'd finally found you.
Chapter Seven â The Accused
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Day One. She answered every question.
Patiently.
Honestly.
No one believed her.
Day Two. She stopped counting how many times sheâd repeated herself.
âI didnât leak anything.â
âWe have evidence.â
âIt isnât mine.â
âThen whose is it?â
âI donât know.â
Day Three. She barely recognised her own voice.
It was hoarse.
Raw.
She hadnât slept properly.
Had barely eaten.
The door opened.
Soap stepped inside.
She looked up hopefully. A sad smile on her lips. âSoapâŚâ
He closed the door behind him. Pulled out the chair opposite. Sat down.
He looked exhausted. âI told them I donât think ye did it.â
Tears instantly filled her eyes. âYou believe me?â
He nodded once. âOf course I do.â
Relief washed across her face.
âButâŚâ His shoulders slumped. âIâm only one vote.â
She looked down. âI understand.â
Soap leaned forward. âTheyâll find the truth. They have to.â
She gave him the smallest nod. âI hope so.â
He wanted to hug her. Tell her everything would be alright. Just comfort her in anyway he could.
He stood. âIâm sorry lass, I really am.â
She watched him leave. Alone again.
⸝
Later that evening, the interrogation resumed. This time Ghost entered. Y/N looked up instinctively.
Then remembered herself. âGhost.â
No warmth.
No emotion.
Just his callsign.
He remained standing.
âIâll ask once.â
She laughed weakly. âYouâve asked about fifty times.â
âWho are you working for?â
âNo one.â
âWrong answer.â
âItâs the truth.â
âYouâve lied before.â
She stared at him. âWhat?â
âYou hid a gunshot wound.â
Her face fell. âSo because I made one decision that I thought would benefit our teamâŚyou think Iâm capable of betraying everyone?â
Ghostâs silence answered for him.
Something inside her finally broke. âI wouldâve died for this team.â Her voice cracked. âI still would.â
âI know.â
âIâve spent months trying to prove I belong here.â
âI know.â
âIâve done everything youâve asked. So no, you donât âknowâ shit.â
âI know.â
âSo whyâŚâ The tears sheâd fought for three days finally spilled over. ââŚwhy are you so determined to think the worst of me?â
Ghostâs jaw clenched beneath the mask. Because if he admitted he believed her. Heâd be choosing emotion over evidence. And that terrified him.
âI deal in facts.â
âThe facts are wrong.â
âThe evidence isnât.â
She laughed through tears. âI thoughtâŚâ She wiped her face roughly. ââŚI actually thought after everythingâŚyou knew me.â
Ghost didnât answer.
She looked away. âI didnât do it.â Her voice was barely audible now. âI swear.â
Ghost turned. Opened the door. Walked out. Without another word. The observation room overlooked the interrogation suite through a one-way mirror. Price stood silently. Soap leaned against the wall with folded arms. Gaz looked furious. Ghost walked in. No one spoke. On the other side of the glass⌠She had finally stopped trying to stay strong. She buried her face in her hands. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs.
No audience.
No performance.
Just complete, devastating exhaustion.
Soap looked away first. âI canât watch this.â He left the room. Angry. Heâs angry at his team. Angry he canât be there for her. Heâs helpless.
Gaz followed a moment later. Price lingered. Then quietly walked out too. Ghost remained alone at the glass. Watching the woman heâd convinced himself was a traitor cry like her world had just collapsed. For one unbearable second, his hand lifted toward the glass. Then he caught himself. He curled it into a fist instead. Turned around. And walked away before she could break what was left of his resolve.
âââ
The fourth morning began with silence. The interrogation room sat empty. Y/N hadnât slept. Sheâd stopped asking how long sheâd been there. Stopped asking anyone to believe her. She simply sat with her hands folded in her lap, staring at the table.

men with retroactive jealousy. 18+
a jealousy that gnaws at the meat of the heart, puncturing the chambers with itâs honed tusks. a vortex of some crude and ludicrous envy had been bisecting your boyfriendâs soul.
he had girls before: meaningless nights with colleagues, strangers who wanted a taste, temporary relations solely based on coital desires. yet, he was tormented by the mere ghost of your ex boyfriendâfrom high school.
the phantom had been harrowing him. a guy before him. an ex lover at that. you had off-handedly snorted about how your ex had gotten married. that was all but enough for questioning by him. âno, i did not have sex with him. only made out and..â âand what?â âgot ate out once.â
heaven and hell must have conjoined to give you a boyfriend like him because the fleeting mention of an ex had him gravitate you to the edge of a searing orgasm.
âhe ate you out, yeah?â he uttered with pure hatred, inching his fingers close to your wet panties. his three fingers rubbed slow circles on your sticky clothed mound, tracing your protruding outline.
a deep groan escaped from the crevices of his teeth, a lick on his canines and a slow tug from the hem of your panties. there it was, the raw cunt with itâs slobbering folds.
âwhatâs got you so wet huh? me or that highschool fucker?â oh, he was so jealous.
âgodâplease. only youâ you pleaded, wanting the feel of his tongue on your sweetness. but right now, his ego was debased. and you were to suffer for it.
âhe touched you like this?â his slender fingers glided up and down your dampness, the middle and ring fingers caressing the puffed folds. the pace was too slow. your breath hitched when you felt the melding of the two togetherâswiping, spreading you everywhere. truly vile, more than anything before.
âspread you like this?â another question eliciting nothing but a futile whimper. you opened your eyesâonly to be graced by his ones. coldness trapped within those eyes ones. âno? mustâve been a shitty boyfriend then, right baby?â
he lowered himself to your heat, face inches away from the smear of your sweet juice. your pussy lips palpating for his kiss. a yearner for his tongue. âhe ate you out yeah?â not a question really. need not an answer. âfuck, i wonder how?â
âdid he start with some licks like thisâ, his tongue darted out. curled from itâs core, the tip made kitty-like licks at the center. a stride from the hole to the clit. following it was a soft kiss on it.
âmhmâwonder what this pussy tasted like to himâ his licks fastened. your stomach coiled in pleasure. and so you tried to close your thighs, albeit, that was useless because he held it in place. ânuh-uh, donât even dareâ.
his eyes desaturated, a beastly hunger taking over. he had flattened his tongue, pressing it on the whole of your pussy and taking in long tastes of the sweetness.
âhm, fuck, he ate you out. sureâ. sarcasm pertinent as he was lapping at your folds. each plush getting kissed and smothered by his tongue. a single drop of water ran from your cunt down to the meat of your ass, a stained trail. he was quite literally salivating on you. drooling on your pussy.
tongue swirled in your inner folds, a delirious pace having your back arching away from the bedsheets only to be halted by him, a firm push down on your pelvis. his hand slithered from your hips to your thighs, spreading you out even more, knees pressed on to the pruned sheets.
âplease. please. please. come onâpleaseâ an incessant rambling had him lift up from your pussy. a string of spit connected and a smirk on his face. âaw you poor thingâ he didnât turn his eyes away. not at all, instead, continued his brute act. his tongue rubbing back and forth on your needy cunt.
with a few more strokes, he had gotten up. the snow in his eyes gleamed an avalanche. his chin wet with your squirt. he had no intention of wiping it away, no, because it was a showcase of your pleasure caused by him only.
âso, he ever finger you?â
ok ill stop now lol. this is the last one of âmen whoâŚâ â¤ď¸ i hope u liked it !! smash like n subscribe
simon is a great husband, you think. with how good he is with the kids. heâs always the âfun parentâ, and somehow gets the kids to eat all their greens.
whilst you canât even get them to get broccoli cheddar soup. who doesnât even like cheese ?
violet and edmund always have a bright smile on their face when their father drops them back home, violet clings to simon a bit more than her younger brother. sheâs daddyâs girl, through and through.
she looks like him too, your son looks more like you, but violet is all her father. his soft smile, the sweet curls. edmund also has the curls, but he isnât as precarious as her.
heâs such a good husband, someday you donât even know why he left. why the divorce papers were served. why heâd looked at you with tearful eyes and said you deserved someone âbetter.â

"Of course." Simon gives you the container and lets you wander off shortly because he's getting another one.

"Luvie, hey hey. Its okay. I can eat it, you don't have too." he takes you into his arms trying to reassure you.
"You're going to eat my ice cream?!" more tears and snot are running down your face.
Oh god, Simon really has to think about what he's saying and how you will conceive his words.

while john price is a sucker for seeing you in your cute two-piece pajama sets, what makes him totally weak is you wearing his shirts.
you prance around most of the time in the sets that he buys for you. they always make you feel good and he definitely doesnât have any complaints about it, but seeing you want to wear his clothes just does something to him.
he comes home and sees you in the kitchen making dinner and he feels his heart skip a beat when he sees you.
youâve got nothing on but his military shirt with âPRICEâ printed on the back and a pair of underwear that barely peaks out when you reach up to grab something out of the cabinet.
he looks you up and down, admiring everything about you. you hum along to the music youâve got playing on in the background, completely oblivious to your husbandâs return.
âwhat a sight you are, love,â he breathes out, almost painfully.
âjohn!â you exclaim excitedly, running over to wrap your arms around him and you reach up to give him a kiss.
you go to pull away to return to making dinner but his hands donât lose their grip around your waist.
âeverything alright?â you ask softly, worried something might be bothering him.
âoh everything is great, just perfect, sweetheart,â he finally pulls away and you watch his gaze trace all over you and you giggle.
âwhat do you think?â you say as you reach out to rub your hands over his arms teasingly.
âyou look gorgeous, love. so god damn beautiful.â
you blush at his compliment, feeling your cheeks warm and you turn away, hands clasped behind your back as you walk back over to the stove.
little did you know, you just gave him the best view he could ask for.
he sucks in a breath and you hear his footsteps trail behind you and heâs pressing his chest against your back, his hips grinding subtlety not into yours.
he reaches over you and turns off the stove and you feel him lean down to press his lips against your neck, you know youâre in for it now.
These days I had to go get vaccinated against measles again (BECAUSE SOME IMBECILES IN MY COUNTRY STOPPED VACCINATING THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN AND NOW A DISEASE THAT WAS ERADICATED IS BACK!!! I HATE ALL ANTI-VAXXERS!), and right in front of me was this group of friends, like four strong guys, with tattoos and piercings. Three of them fainted from the vaccine. The only one who stayed standing needed to be consoled by the nurse and even got a lollipop.
It got me thinking a little...
"Captain Price? You know your squad is overdue for their vaccines, right?" The base's new medic said, walking into the Captain's office without even knocking.
"Vaccines? No, I clearly remember taking that last year," Price replied, and she slowly lowered her clipboard to look at him.
"You have to take it every year, Captain."
"I'll take my squad at the end of the day."
"Great! See you later!"
"See you later, love."
Except the "later" never came. Not the next day, nor the day after. Not even the following week.
And she couldn't even confront him, since every time she went after the Captain or any member of the squad, they ran and hid as if she were an enemy.
"Still trying to vaccinate them?" one of the medical lieutenants asked. "You know they only managed to get vaccinated last year because they were hospitalized, right? I think Sergeant Mactavish was on top of that, actually."
"Really?"
"Rumor has it, they're afraid of needles."
"The 141? Afraid of needles?!"
"Yeah... I think you're going to have to forget about their vaccines," he murmured, and she looked at the clipboard in her hands again.
"Or... I catch them by surprise."
"What?!" Before he could question further, she was already gone.
The first target was obviously Price.
He had an easy schedule to follow. Always went out to smoke at the same time. Ate lunch in the same place. Went for a run at the exact same second. He was predictable. That didn't mean he was easy.
The first attempt was catching him during his run. She put on her sneakers, stuck the needle with the vaccine inside her small fanny pack, along with alcohol cotton and a band-aid.
"What are you doing here, love?" he asked as soon as he saw her "warming up" on the grass.
"Decided to do my cardio outside today. Beautiful day, don't you think?"
"It's overcast and drizzling."
"I know! Beautiful!"
He rolled his eyes and started running. She ran alongside him.
The medic waited for the moment when a drop of sweat was running down his arm to act.
"You're sweating..." she commented, using the cotton to wipe it, and before Price could question what she was doing, the needle was in his arm.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
"VACCINATING YOU!!!" she screamed, pushing the needle and injecting the vaccine into his body. "All done, Captain! See, it wasn't so bad!" He fell to his knees. "Captain? Price?" And then he passed out on the grass. "At least I got it done."
Next target was Kyle.
Now it would be harder, since the entire squad (and base) had found out she vaccinated John Price. And that he had to be taken to the infirmary afterward.
It was difficult. Not impossible.
She caught Kyle during lunch, taking advantage of the cafeteria line to stick close to him.
"Oh no! Looks like you dropped something here... I'll clean it up for you!" She said, pulling the cotton from her pocket. But Kyle was alertâhe grabbed her hand mid-air and spun her against the wall. "Sergeant Gaz!"
"I know what you did to Price!"
"Oh, for God's sake!" She tried to get out of his arms but he was stronger than her. So she did the old trick she'd learned in life. She pretended to cry.
"Ah, shit! Did I hurt you?" He immediately let go, and as soon as he did, the needle hidden in her hand pierced the side of his arm. "Traitor," he said before finally letting his body go limp against hers.
Now came the hardest one of all: Lieutenant Simon.
With Simon, things had to be different. She had to be better. Smarter.
So she decided to wait for him to finish training and go to the showers. She crept in, hiding in the shadows like a cat. She waited for him to turn on the shower to make sure there was enough noise to mask her presence.
"Not going to work," he said as soon as she passed through the door. She didn't even have a chance to put her plan into action.
"Come on! I had a whole plan!" She huffed, walking until she was face to face. Or face to his back, since the Lieutenant was facing the wall, protecting his face from her view.
"Terrible plan," he said, grabbing the soap and starting to lather up, still not turning to face the medic.
"Terrible plan is turning your back on me!" She said, running across the wet floor and jumping onto the Lieutenant's back. He, even naked and covered in soap, still managed to dodge. His strong, tattooed arms caught her and pinned her against the wallâone hand holding her by the neck there, the other holding her hand, preventing the needle from reaching his skin.
"I said. Terrible plan."
"You need to get vaccinated!" She huffed, putting all the strength in the world into trying to bring the needle closer.
"And what do I get out of it?"
"A good immune system!"
"Not enough."
"A healthier life!"
"More," he said, getting closer. The scar on his mouth moving like a smile. "I want what you're hiding." His tone was heavy and ominous. "I know you have it." He got closer. "I want your sweet secret."
"How many?"
"All of them."
"Fine, you can have all the lollipops from the infirmary. If you let me give you the vaccine and help me with Johnnyâhe's next."
"Deal," he said, finally letting the needle touch his skin and the vaccine enter his body.
Minutes later, Ghost was walking around the base showing off his pack of lollipops.
The next day, Johnny knew what was coming. He could feel it in his bones. He avoided the medic and everyone from his squad. Fled his training. Hid. Ran. Everything to avoid the inevitable: the vaccine.
When the sun went down and he saw the medic's car leave the parking lot and pass through the gates, he finally climbed down from the tree.
Only for Ghost's arms to catch him in a muscle lock.
"NO!!!!" he screamed, struggling like a cat about to be bathed. "NO! HELP! SOMEONE! NOOO!!!"
"It's just a little prick, Sergeant," she said, emerging from the bush with the cotton and syringe in hand.
"You're a monster!" Johnny spat.
"And you're being a baby!"
"NO! PRICE! SAVE ME! KYLE!" he screamed, but Price and Gaz were far away, taking a ride in her car.
"It'll be quick, Sergeant."
"You're lying!" he said to the Lieutenant. She heard the Lieutenant laugh before holding his friend's arm, letting the medic do her work.
"NOOO!!!!" Johnny screamed like a demon hit with holy water. And then, he passed out.
"All done! He even got a dinosaur band-aid!" She said, placing it on the tiny spot where the needle had pierced his skin.
"I'll take him to his room," the Lieutenant said, throwing Johnny's unconscious body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Do you have more lollipops?"
"You've already eaten the whole bag?!"
"You didn't answer me," she rolled her eyes, grabbing the last lollipop she had in the drawerâthe one she'd saved for laterâand handing it to the Lieutenant. "You need to watch your sugar intake, Lieutenant. I don't want to have to check your glucose."
"Stay away from me," she laughed, watching him walk away.
At least she'd managed to vaccinate the 141... Now, only next year.

Price has, on mutliple occasions this week alone, verbally torn some poor unsuspecting soldier to shreds.
It's absolutely terrifying, given the captain hardly deals with anyone outside of the task force and never cared enough to properly yell. The entire base has been eerily tense, terrified of being the next to fall to his wrath.
Which, of course, means the team are insistent on figuring out what the hell is wrong with him.
They subtly track him around base, updating the group chat with any information. Price follows his usual routine with a firm scowl on his face, people leaving rooms when he walks in, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Not until gaz watches price step out to his usual place to smoke, walk and annoyed circle and do....nothing? Gaz is about to approach when price pulls out his phone.
"Hi, love," the scowl on prices face smoothes out instantly, and gaz knows he's talking to you, his spouse. "Just checking in."
He scrubs a hand over the back of his neck, the same motion he does after an exhausting mission "I miss you too, sweet'art. Just a few more days an' I'll be with you, okay?"
For the first time in weeks, price smiles that soft loving smile. Gaz narrows his eyes, waits for price to fish out a cig while he talks but...it never happens.
Instead, price pulls out a piece of gum, settles heavily against the wall, and asks with all the adoration in the world "how's baby doing?"
Oh shit.
Turns out, price has been on the verge of homicide because his beloved spouse is pregnant and he doesn't want to make baby sick smoking around the house, nor does he want to upset said spouse with the "most foul smell I've ever experienced, john" by smoking on base.
Price quit smoking cold turkey for you and his future kid.

Title: The Sentinels Boundary
Fandom: Call of Duty
Paring: Obsessive Captain John Price x Wife Reader
Description: When Captain John Price returns from a brutal three-month deployment, his only focus is reclaiming the quiet sanctuary of home and burying himself in the warmth of his wife. But the hard-earned peace shatters the moment he notices the subtle tension in her touch and the apprehension in her eyes. Learning that a new neighbor has crossed the line into obsessive, intrusive behavior while he was away awakens a dark, lethal territorialism in the Task Force 141 commander. Unflinching and dangerously calm, Price makes it glaringly clear to the intruder, and the rest of the worldâthat his wife is entirely off-limits, protected by a man who will tear through anyone foolish enough to threaten what is his.
---
The calendar on the kitchen wall had become a graveyard of red ink, every bold cross marking another day survived in the quiet, echoing house. Thirty days. Four weeks of sleeping on Johnâs side of the bed just to catch the faint, lingering scent of tobacco and cedar on his pillow. Four weeks of checking the secure phone every twenty minutes, waiting for an encrypted ping that rarely came. Deployments were always grueling, but this last month of his classified operation had felt agonizingly long, made infinitely worse by the heavy footsteps residing in the apartment directly across the hall.
The flat across from yours and John's had sat vacant for over a year, a quiet buffer between your life and the rest of the building. That changed at the beginning of the month when a towering, broad-shouldered firefighter named Marcus moved in. At first, he seemed harmless enough, polite, quick to hold the heavy lobby doors open, and always offering a warm, easy smile when you passed each other in the corridor. But it didn't take long for that friendly demeanor to twist into something claustrophobic.
It started with small, unprompted gestures. A potted plant left outside your entrance with a hand-written note wishing you a good week. Then came the fresh bouquets of flowers resting against your welcome mat every few mornings, accompanied by casual invites to grab a drink down the street or let him take a look at a leak in your bathroom. Every polite refusal you gave seemed to slide right off him, serving only to fuel his persistence. He knew you lived alone, heâd outright mentioned noticing that no one else ever unlocked your door, and with John off the grid on a high-risk mission, you had no way to warn your husband, no encrypted channel to type out the uncomfortable truth. You were trapped in a waiting game, counting down the hours until Task Force 141âs commander returned to claim his space.
The final red cross on the calendar felt like a victory. Today was the day John was coming back to you.
Wanting to look your best for his return, you pulled on a breezy, flowy white dress that brushed against your ankles, pairing it with low wedge sandals. You swept your thick, curly hair up into a high pineapple style, letting the curls spill over the top, before grabbing your purse and car keys off the entry table. It was time to drive to the base and finally bring your husband home.
Before touching the doorknob, you leaned forward to look through the peephole, a paranoid, skin-crawling habit you had unfortunately grown accustomed to over the last few weeks. The dimly lit hallway across from your door appeared completely empty. Marcus wasn't waiting at his frame. Breathing a small sigh of relief, you pulled the door open, stepped into the corridor, and pulled it shut behind you.
The sharp click of your key turning in the lock echoed in the quiet hallway.
Click.
The sound of Marcusâs front door unlatching across the hall was instantaneous.
You froze, key still in the lock, as his heavy frame stepped out into the corridor. He wasn't in his firefighter uniform; instead, he wore a fitted t-shirt that showed off his broad chest and arms, leaning his shoulder against his doorframe with a slow, deliberate grin. His eyes swept over you, lingering heavy and unashamed on the white dress, the exposed line of your neck, and the way your hair was styled.
"Well, look at you," Marcus said, his voice smooth and dripping with unwanted familiarity as he crossed his arms. "Where are you heading all dressed up like that on a Tuesday afternoon?"
You instinctively pull your purse closer, turning your body slightly away from him as you slide your car keys into your palm.
"I'm on my way to pick up my husband," you say, keeping your tone clipped and firm, refusing to offer him a smile.
Marcus doesn't budge. Instead, his grin widens into a patronizing smirk, his gaze dropping to your bare left hand. "Husband?" he chuckles, letting out a low, disbelieving huff as he takes a slow step into the narrow hallway, narrowing the space between you. "Come on, now. Youâve been living here alone for a whole month. No ring on your finger, no car in your spot, no guy ever coming through that door."
He leans his shoulder against the wall just a few feet away, blocking the direct path toward the stairs. His eyes trace the line of your dress again with an uncomfortable, possessive weight.
"You're not married, sweetheart," Marcus says smoothly, his voice dropping into a conspiratorial purr. "You don't have to make up some ghost story just to play hard to get with me. A girl as beautiful as you shouldn't be spending her afternoons lying to the guy across the hall."
You roll your eyes, the sheer absurdity of his arrogance cutting straight through your discomfort. Without giving him another second of your time or another word of breath, you sweep right past him. The hem of your white dress brushes against his jeans as you bypass his broad frame, stepping quickly down the stairwell before he even has a chance to reach out or stop you.
"Hey....wait a minute!" Marcus calls down the hall, his confident smirk faltering into confusion, but you don't look back.
You burst through the heavy glass doors of the lobby and stride straight to your sleek white SUV parked in the driveway. Beeping the unlock button, you hop into the driver's seat, toss your purse onto the passenger side, and slam the door shut, immediately locking it. You press the push-to-start button, the engine roaring to life, and shift into drive before pulling out onto the main road with a sharp press of the accelerator.
The anger and unsettling grease of the interaction fade with every mile you put between yourself and the apartment complex. As the city buildings give way to the sprawling perimeter fence of the military base, your heart rate shifts from agitation to sheer anticipation. Passing through the security checkpoint with your high-clearance spousal pass, you navigate the familiar roads toward the secure tarmac where Task Force 141's transport is scheduled to land.
---
The sleek white SUV had barely come to a complete stop near the edge of the tarmac before you were out of the driver's seat.
Standing beside a dark transport vehicle, surrounded by the deafening hum of idling jet engines and tactical gear being unloaded, was John. He was still in his dark combat fatigues, a heavy duffel slung over one broad shoulder, his short beard dusted with dirt and sweat from the long flight back. The moment his sharp blue eyes caught sight of you, a vision in white cutting across the grey concrete, the exhausted, stone-faced Commander completely dissolved.
He dropped his duffel bag to the ground with a heavy thud, taking long, forceful strides toward you. Before you could even utter his name, his large arms wrapped around your waist, hauling you effortlessly off your feet and pulling you flush against his chest.
"God, sweetheart," John rasped into your hair, his voice a low, rough rumble against your ear.
He held you with an almost suffocating intensity, his hands burying themselves in the small of your back and the nape of your neck, crushing the delicate white fabric of your dress against his heavy tactical vest. He pressed his face deep into the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply, grounding himself in the scent of your skin after weeks of gunpowder, dirt, and blood.
"Missed you," he murmured, his warm breath fanning against your collarbone as he set your feet back on the ground, though he refused to let go. His broad hands framed your face, his calloused thumbs gently wiping away a tear you hadn't realized had slipped down your cheek. His gaze swept over you, possessive and fiercely tender. "Missed you so bloody much. Look at you... absolutely stunning."
You slide your hands up his broad chest, framing his jawline, and bring him down into a deep, lingering kiss that tastes like dust and tobacco. John groans softly against your lips, his hands instantly tightening around your waist, pulling you so close there isn't a sliver of air between you.
When you pull back just enough to breathe, you wrap your fingers firmly around the collar of his uniform jacket, tugging him down to your eye level with a look that means absolute business.
"I missed you so much," you say, your voice soft at first before hardening into a sharp, uncompromising threat. You yank his collar just a fraction tighter. "If you ever leave me alone for that long again, you are done, Price. Do you hear me? I will lock the doors and you are never leaving the house again."
John blinks, his sharp blue eyes widening slightly as he stares down at his gorgeous, fierce wife in her flowy white dress. For a fraction of a second, the legendary, fear-inducing commander of Task Force 141 looks genuinely intimidated. A slow, bemused smirk tugs at the corner of his mustache beneath his stunned expression.
"Yes, love," John rumbles quickly, raising his hands in a mock gesture of total surrender. "Understood. Message received loud and clear."
He leans down to press a firm, fervent kiss to your forehead, his low chuckle vibrating through his chest as he wraps his arm securely back around your waist. "Now come on... get me home before you decide to start my house arrest early."
John tossed his heavy duffel bag into the back seat before rounding the front of the sleek white SUV to take the keys from your hand. He slid into the driver's seat, adjusting the mirrors to fit his broad frame, the familiar scent of leather, dirt, and fresh air filling the cabin. The engine hummed to life under his touch, but before shifting into drive, he turned his head to look at you, his thumb gently stroking the back of your hand where it rested on the center console.
"So," John began, his low, gravelly voice filling the space between you, "anything happen while I was off grid? Everything quiet around the flat?"
You swallowed hard, your fingers tightening around his big, warm hand. "We have a new neighbor," you said softly, your eyes fixing on the dashboard.
John raised an eyebrow, his sharp gaze immediately honing in on the sudden change in your demeanor. "Yeah? Across the hall?" He paused, his tone casual, though his military instincts were already quietly sharpening. "Are they nice?"
"A little too nice," you murmured, your grip on his fingers turning almost desperate, knuckles going white as a sudden wave of tension locked up your shoulders.
The moment the words left your mouth, John felt the sudden, rigid stiffness in your body. The warmth in his eyes instantly evaporated, replaced by a cold, deadly focus. He didn't pull his hand away; instead, his broad fingers squeezed yours back in a firm, grounding hold, his knuckles turning white as he processed the fear radiating off you.
"Look at me, sweetheart," John commanded softly, his voice dropping into that dangerously low, calm register he used right before a breach. His blue eyes locked onto yours, sharp as flint. "What does 'too nice' mean? What did he do?"
You opened your mouth to answer, the uncomfortable words forming on your tongue, when the harsh, jarring buzz of Johnâs encrypted satellite phone cut through the quiet cabin.
John didn't take his eyes off you for a full three seconds, his jaw clenched tight as the device vibrated furiously against the center console. Finally, with a sharp exhale, he reached down and tapped the speaker button without breaking his gaze on your face.
"Price," he grunted, his voice laced with pure, dangerous gravel.
"Boss, sorry to bother you so soon," Gazâs clear, accent-heavy voice echoed through the car's speakers, crisp despite the encrypted line. "Just wrapping up the debrief with Shepherdâs team. Intelligence flagged a potential leak tied to the safehouses near the district. Weâre doing a sweeping sweep of the surrounding grid. You clear of the tarmac?"
"I'm in the vehicle with my wife," John replied, his tone clipped, authoritative, and completely icy. "I'm heading home. Keep the line clear unless it's a direct threat to my coordinates, Garrick."
"Understood, Captain. Just wanted to make sure you were off the X. Weâll handle the paperwork from here. Get some rest."
"Right. Out."
John ended the call with a single tap of his thumb, tossing the phone onto the dashboard. The silence that settled back over the SUV was suffocating. He turned his torso fully toward you, leaning in closer, his big, calloused hand reaching out to gently cup the side of your neck, his thumb soothingly tracing your jawline.
"Gaz is handling the base," John said softly, his blue eyes searching yours with an intense, unwavering focus. "Now... tell me everything about this neighbor."
"I'll show you when we get inside," you murmured, keeping your eyes on his. "He's been leaving things. Gifts. I threw them out, took photos of everything just in case."
Johnâs grip on the steering wheel tightened until his knuckles turned pale, a dark muscle ticking in his jaw. He didn't say another word on the drive back, his silent, suffocating aura radiating through the vehicle like a storm brewing just off the coast.
When you pulled into the underground garage of your building, John was out of the driver's side before the engine even cut completely. He grabbed his heavy duffel, his hand immediately finding the small of your back to usher you toward the elevator. The ride up to the third floor was thick with a heavy, dangerous quiet.
The elevator doors slid open with a soft ding.
John stepped out first, instinctively placing his broad frame between you and the corridor as he scanned the hallway with practiced, lethal precision. You followed closely behind him, the heels of your wedges clicking softly against the floorboards. But as you approached your front door, you froze.
Resting right in the middle of your welcome mat was a fresh, lavish bouquet of long-stemmed red roses, wrapped in clear cellophane with a small white card tucked inside.
You stopped dead in your tracks, stomach churning with pure revulsion. You pointed down at the flowers, turning your face toward your husband with absolute disgust written across your features. "See?" you whispered, your voice laced with irritation and discomfort. "He left another one."
John slowly lowered his gaze to the roses sitting on his threshold.
For three terrifying seconds, the corridor went dead silent. The Task Force 141 commander didn't move a muscle. His sharp blue eyes locked onto the bouquet, his chest rising and falling in a slow, calculated breath as the air around him turned icy cold. The sheer, possessive rage radiating off him was palpable.
---
Before the door across the hall could swing fully open, John grabbed the bouquet off the mat by its stems, unlocked your apartment, and ushered you inside, slamming the heavy front door behind you. The deadbolt engaged with a sharp, authoritative click. He tossed the roses straight into the entryway trash bin like a piece of hazardous waste.
You led him into the bright kitchen, pulling out your phone to swipe through the photo gallery. You handed the screen over to him, showing him clear, dated pictures of the various boxes of chocolates, handwritten notes, and potted plants Marcus had been leaving on your doorstep over the past month, along with the note explaining you had tossed every single one.
John stared down at the screen, his face an unreadable, stone-cold mask. But as he looked up from the phone, his sharp blue eyes caught the way you were standing. Even at your tall stature, your shoulders were pulled in tight, your arms crossed tightly over the chest of your white dress, a subtle tremor running through your frame as the built-up anxiety of the last month finally caught up to you.
The hardened, dangerous soldier instantly shifted.
John stepped across the kitchen tile, his massive, broad frame easily towering over you as he closed the distance. He didn't just step close; he completely enveloped you, stepping directly into your personal space. His heavy, calloused hands came up to frame the sides of your face, his thumbs gently sweeping across your cheekbones before sliding down to rest securely against your neck. He pulled you flush against his chest, shielding you entirely from the rest of the world.
"Look at me, sweetheart," John rumbled, his voice dropping into a low, thick register that vibrated straight against your forehead as he rested his against yours. His large hands moved down to wrap tightly around your waist, holding you with an intense, possessive grip that left zero doubt you were safe.
"Take a breath," he murmured softly, his blue eyes searching yours with a mix of fierce tenderness and lethal resolve. "You're done dealing with this alone. Explain everything to me, love. Every word he said to you, every time he looked at you. Don't leave a single detail out."
Taking a deep breath, you let the weight of the last four weeks spill out. You told him everything: how Marcus had started off seemingly polite, how the unsolicited gifts began to appear, the invasive questions about your schedule, and the lingering stares every time you left the flat. You described how he constantly brought up the fact that you lived alone, insidiously hinting that your husband wasn't coming back.
The tipping point came when you told him about what happened just an hour ago before you left to pick him up.
"I tried to tell him I was going to pick up my husband," you said, your voice tight with lingering anger. "And he just smirked at me, John. He looked right at my hand and said, 'You're not married, sweetheart. You don't have to make up some ghost story just to play hard to get.'"
The moment the words left your mouth, the temperature in the kitchen plummeted.
John didn't roar, and he didn't smash anything. Instead, he went utterly, terrifyingly still. The large hand cupping your neck tightened just enough to ground you, his thumb smoothing over your pulse point while his knuckles turned stark white. A dark, dangerous muscle ticked in his jaw, his blue eyes narrowing into two icy slits that held the promise of unspeakable violence.
"A ghost story, is it?" John rumbled softly. His voice wasn't just lowâit was a sub-zero, lethal murmur that made a shiver run down your spine.
He leaned down, pressing a firm, heavy kiss to the center of your forehead, inhaling deeply as if anchoring his composure before it cracked wide open.
"Stay in the kitchen, love," Price instructed quietly, his tone laced with absolute, uncompromising authority as he gently unclasped your hands from his chest and stepped back. "I'm going to introduce myself to our new neighbor."
Before you could even utter a word of caution, John turned on his heel. He didn't bother changing out of his dust-covered combat trousers or heavy tactical boots. He strode across the living room with the slow, deliberate stride of an apex predator, unlocked the heavy front door, and stepped out into the hallway, leaving the door wide open behind him.
Across the hall, Marcus's apartment door was still ajar.
John didn't knock. He simply used the flat of his hand to shove Marcus's door fully open, the heavy wood slamming against the interior wall with a crack that echoed like a gunshot through the corridor.
"What the hell..." Marcus started, stepping out of his kitchen with a scowl, his broad firefighter frame bracing for a fight.
That scowl instantly vanished the moment he looked up.
Standing in his entryway was Captain John Price. Towering, broad-shouldered, dusted in combat dirt, and radiating a suffocating, lethal aura that filled the entire hallway.
John stepped directly into Marcus's personal space, forcing the larger man to take an involuntary step backward into his own living room. Price didn't draw a weapon; he didn't need to. He placed one heavy, calloused hand against Marcus's sternum, arresting the man's movement with effortless, stone-wall strength, and leaned down so his face was inches from his.
"I hear you've been having trouble with your memory, son," John said, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly register that vibrated with raw malice. "Word on the floor is you think my wife is a liar. You think I'm a ghost."
Marcus went dead pale, his mouth opening and closing as he stared into the unblinking, terrifying blue eyes of a man who had survived a hundred war zones. "Listen, man....I didn't know....she never said.."
"She told you," John interrupted softly, his grip tightening against Marcus's chest just enough to knock the wind out of him. "And then you stepped onto my threshold. You left your trash at my door. You looked at what belongs to me like it was up for grabs."
Price leaned in closer, his mustache almost brushing Marcus's ear, his voice lowering into an absolute, chilling decree.
"So let me make this painfully clear so your firefighter brain comprehends it. You don't look across that hall. You don't leave another flower, another note, or another breath of air near my wife. If I so much as catch your eyes wandering toward my door again, I won't just consider it a nuisance; I will treat it as an active threat to my home. And I eliminate threats permanently. Am I making myself clear?"
Marcus swallowed hard, his throat clicking, his posture entirely broken. "Yeah," he choked out, nodding frantically. "Yeah. Clear. I'm sorry."
"Good lad," John rumbled darkly.
He patted Marcus's cheek twice, a patronizing, humiliating gesture, before turning on his heel and walking back across the corridor. He stepped inside your flat, pulled the heavy door shut, and engaged every single lock with a final, decisive clack.
John stood in the foyer for a moment, letting out a long, slow exhale through his nose. When he turned back toward the kitchen where you were watching, the terrifying, lethal commander instantly vanished. A dark, intensely possessive warmth flooded his expression as he unzipped his heavy jacket, tossed it onto a chair, and crossed the room straight to you.
Without a word, he scooped you into his arms, lifting you right off your feet and settling you onto the kitchen counter. He stepped between your knees, framing your face in his large hands, and brought his lips down onto yours in a deep, fierce, claiming kiss that stole the breath right out of your lungs.
"Nobody touches what's mine," John growled against your lips, his heavy hands gripping your waist through the soft white fabric of your dress, pulling you flush against his chest. "You're safe now, sweetheart. I'm not letting you out of my sight."
A soft, genuine laugh escaped your chest, the suffocating tension that had weighed on your shoulders for the past month finally evaporating completely. You reached up, intertwining your fingers with Johnâs large, calloused hand, and gently pulled him off the kitchen counter to lead him into the living room.
John allowed himself to be dragged along willingly, his sharp blue eyes never leaving your face, a subtle, fond smirk softening the hard lines around his mouth.
Once you reached the edge of the plush sofa, you turned around to face him, keeping your grip tight on his hand. You looked up into the eyes of the man who had just handled a threat with terrifying ease, feeling a deep, unyielding warmth bloom in your chest.
"I love you," you said softly, your voice completely genuine.
Before he could respond, your expression hardened into a playful yet entirely serious glare. You gave his hand a firm, uncompromising tug. "And I meant every single word of what I said at the base. If you ever leave me alone for that long again, Captain, you are done. I will personally padlock the front door, turn off your satellite phone, and keep you chained to this house."
John let out a deep, chest-rumbling chuckle, the sound rich and full of affection. He didn't pull his hand away; instead, he stepped directly into your space, wrapping his other arm securely around your waist to haul you up against him until there wasn't a sliver of air between your bodies.
"Is that a promise, love?" John rumbled into your ear, his heavy mustache brushing against your skin as he leaned down, his voice dropping into that dark, dangerously possessive register. "Because keeping me locked up in this house with you for the rest of my life doesn't sound like much of a punishment."
He pulled back just enough to look down into your eyes, his large hand coming up to cup the back of your head, fingers tangling gently into your curls. The humor in his expression melted into a quiet, fiercely intense devotion.
"I love you too, sweetheart," Price murmured, pressing his forehead against yours, his breath warm against your lips. "And you have my word... next time Command tries to ship me off for three months, they're going to have to fight both of us to get me out that door."

PAIRING: John Price x F!Reader
SUMMARY: You and Price have been keeping your relationship a secret. After a successful mission, the tension between you becomes impossible to ignore.
WORD COUNT: ~1,900
WARNING(S): smut, age gap, swearing, alcohol, smoking, 18+ content
The worst part about working with John Price was that you learned him too well.
You had known John for almost four years. Four years of missions, long flights, sleepless nights, arguments, close calls and far too many moments where one of you had to trust the other with your life.
You knew the slight change in his voice when a mission went wrong. You knew the look he gave you when he wanted you to stay close. You knew when he was angry, when he was tired and, unfortunately, when he wanted you.
It hadn't always been like this.
When you first joined Task Force 141, John was simply your captain. Professional, demanding and annoyingly observant. You respected him, and he respected you. There was nothing more to it.
At least, that's what you both thought.
It started after one particular mission.
The mission had been brutal. You'd spent hours running on adrenaline, barely getting through it without losing someone. When you finally returned to base, neither of you could sleep. You were both exhausted, restless and still carrying the tension of everything that had happened.
One conversation turned into another.
Then one stupid decision became another.
Neither of you planned for it to happen again.
But it did.
And then again.
Eventually, the two of you stopped pretending it was only about needing somewhere to put all that post-mission adrenaline.
Somewhere along the way, John started staying after you'd fallen asleep. You started finding excuses to sit beside him during briefings. His hand would occasionally brush yours when nobody was looking, and sometimes you'd catch him watching you from across the room.
Neither of you ever called it a relationship.
That would've made it real.
And real would've meant that someone could find out.
So you made rules.
No touching at base.
No flirting during missions.
No obvious looks across the briefing room.
And most importantly, nobody in Task Force 141 could know.
Tonight was supposed to be another successful mission followed by a few drinks and sleep.
Instead, Soap had decided everyone needed to celebrate at the nearest bar.
The place was crowded and loud, filled with music, alcohol and people who had no idea that four members of Task Force 141 were sitting in the corner.
You sat between Gaz and Soap, listening to them argue about something that had happened during the mission.
John sat opposite you with Ghost beside him.
You tried not to look at him.
You failed almost immediately.
John was already looking at you.
You raised your glass slightly.
He only lifted an eyebrow.
- What?
You mouthed the words.
He shook his head.
- Nothing.
You narrowed your eyes at him.
- You're staring.
His mouth twitched.
- I'm looking at you.
- That's called staring, Captain.
Soap suddenly looked between you and Price.
- What are you two whispering about?
You turned toward him quickly.
- Nothing.
John took a calm sip of his drink.
- She's accusing me of staring.
Gaz laughed.
- At her?
You kicked Gaz lightly underneath the table.
- Shut up.
Soap grinned.
- Price, mate, you've been staring at her all night.
John looked at him with an unimpressed expression.
- Have I?
Ghost finally looked up from his drink.
- Yes.
You almost choked.
John slowly turned toward Ghost.
- Thanks, Lieutenant.
- You're welcome.
Soap burst out laughing.
You lowered your head, trying to hide your smile behind your glass.
John's eyes found you again.
This time, there was something warmer in them.
Something that belonged only to you.
You took another drink.
The conversation moved on, but John kept finding small reasons to look at you.
When you laughed at something Gaz said, his gaze stayed on you.
When you pushed your hair behind your ear, he noticed.
When you leaned closer to Soap to hear him over the music, John's jaw tightened slightly.
You knew that expression.
Jealous.
You almost smiled.
Almost.
- You okay, Price? Gaz asked.
- Fine.
- You look like you want to kill someone.
John glanced at him.
- I'm enjoying myself.
Soap snorted.
- That's your enjoying-yourself face?
Ghost muttered something beneath his breath.
- Could've fooled me.
You laughed quietly.
John looked directly at you.
- Something funny, sweetheart?
The word hit you harder than it should have.
Your smile disappeared for half a second.
John knew exactly what he'd done.
You looked around quickly.
Nobody seemed to have noticed.
You leaned slightly toward John.
- Careful.
His eyes stayed on yours.
- About what?
- You almost forgot we're supposed to be pretending.
John's expression softened.
- I didn't forget.
- Could've fooled me.
He leaned back in his chair.
- Maybe you're distracting me.
You stared at him.
- You're impossible.
- And yet you're still sitting there.
You wanted to kick him again.
Instead, you smiled into your glass.
An hour passed.
The drinks disappeared slowly, the conversation becoming louder and more relaxed. Soap was telling another ridiculous story, Gaz was laughing at him, and even Ghost seemed less irritated than usual.
You were enjoying yourself.
You really were.
But every time you looked at John, you remembered what happened between you two years ago.
That first night.
The mission.
The adrenaline.
The exhaustion.
The way you'd both convinced yourselves that it was nothing.
It had been easier when it was nothing.
Now you knew how John took his coffee. You knew which side of the bed he preferred. You knew the sound of his laugh when he was genuinely amused, even though he rarely let it out.
You knew him.
Too well.
And he knew you.
Your phone buzzed on the table.
You looked down.
A message from your mother.
You sighed.
- Everything alright? Gaz asked.
- Yeah. I should probably go soon.
Soap immediately looked offended.
- Already?
- I have an early morning.
- It's midnight.
- Exactly.
Gaz laughed.
You stood and grabbed your coat.
- Goodnight, guys.
- Night, Y/N, Gaz said.
Soap lifted his glass.
- Don't do anything stupid.
You paused.
For a second, you looked at John.
His face was completely neutral.
- I'll try, you answered.
You walked toward the exit.
You didn't look back.
Not until you were outside.
The cold air hit your face, and you pulled your coat tighter around yourself.
You checked your phone.
Nothing.
You rolled your eyes.
Of course.
John was probably going to make you wait.
You had barely taken ten steps when the door opened behind you.
You didn't need to turn around.
- You're late, Captain.
John walked beside you.
- I had to make sure nobody followed me.
- You mean Soap?
- Mostly Soap.
You laughed.
- He was suspicious tonight.
John looked at you.
- He wasn't suspicious.
- He literally said you were staring at me.
- Maybe he was drunk.
- He wasn't that drunk.
John's mouth curved into a small smile.
- You noticed?
You stopped walking and looked at him.
- I notice everything about you.
The smile disappeared.
For a moment, neither of you said anything.
John looked down the street before speaking.
- That's what got us into trouble in the first place.
Your expression softened.
- I know.
You continued walking.
His shoulder brushed yours.
Once.
Then again.
Neither of you moved away.
- You remember that night? you asked quietly.
John looked at you.
- I remember every second.
Your heart jumped.
- We said it was only because of the mission.
- We were exhausted.
- And apparently had terrible judgment.
John laughed under his breath.
- Still do.
You looked at him.
- You don't regret it.
- Do you?
You didn't answer immediately.
Instead, you looked ahead.
- No.
John nodded.
- Neither do I.
His car appeared at the end of the street.
You stopped beside it.
- So what's the plan?
John unlocked the car.
- You tell me.
- I asked you.
- And I'm asking you.
You rolled your eyes.
- You're annoying.
- You've mentioned that.
You opened the passenger door.
- Are you taking me home?
John looked at you for a long moment.
- Do you want me to?
You met his gaze.
- Not really.
That was enough.
He opened the driver's door and got inside.
You climbed into the passenger seat.
The doors closed, cutting off the noise of the street.
For a few seconds, neither of you spoke.
John started the engine.
- Where are we going?
You looked at him.
- You know where.
His eyes moved toward you.
- Your place?
- No.
A small smile appeared on his lips.
- Mine?
You nodded.
- Nobody from 141 goes there.
- That's the point.
John drove away from the bar.
You watched the lights disappear behind you.
After a few minutes, you reached across the center console and placed your hand over his.
His fingers immediately closed around yours.
No words.
You didn't need them.
This was the part nobody knew about.
Not Soap.
Not Gaz.
Not Ghost.
Nobody knew that the captain who looked so controlled in front of his team had a completely different side when he was alone with you.
Nobody knew that the woman who could walk into a briefing room and argue with him about tactics was the same woman who sometimes fell asleep against his chest.
Nobody knew that somewhere between missions, late nights and one terrible decision, you had stopped being just colleagues.
And maybe that was the most dangerous part.
You didn't know what you were anymore either.
By the time John parked outside his place, your hand was still in his.
He turned off the engine.
You looked at him.
- John.
- Hmm?
- Tomorrow we're going to act like nothing happened.
He looked at you for a long moment.
- We always do.
- And if Soap notices?
John smirked.
- Then I'll deal with Soap.
You laughed.
- You're so confident.
- I'm your captain.
- Unfortunately.
He leaned closer.
- Still think I'm annoying?
You smiled.
- Very.
His hand settled gently against your waist.
- Good.
- Why?
His eyes dropped to your lips.
- Because I like you difficult.
You rolled your eyes, but you were already smiling.
- You're impossible.
- And you're still here.
You leaned closer and kissed him.
This time there was no bar full of teammates, no pretending, no careful glances across the table.
Just John.
And you.
The same secret you'd been keeping for months.
Only now, you were starting to wonder how long you could keep pretending it was only lust.

It seems like hours before Soap returns with a bundle of clothes in his arms, every second you had sitting down in that dark hole feeling like an eternity. You manage a small sigh of relief when he finally comes back in sight, passing the clothes to you through the narrow opening.Â
âThanks,â you murmur softly, grabbing the items with eagerness. Itâs difficult to get the outfit on, the space not allowing much movement. You have to lie back on the dirt to shimmy the pants over your hips, hissing through your teeth at a sting in your back when you shift against the rough surface. Soap offers a hand once you are dressed, helping guide you out into the open with one hand while the other lifts some of the paneling upward to allow more space.Â
Your movements are clumsy as you right yourself, limbs stiff and sore now protesting being straightened fully. The sun scorches your eyes, forcing you to squint as you adjust to the change in lighting. Soap is moving to steady you instantly, watching your staggering movements with a pinched expression. His hand lands firmly between your shoulder blades, meant to be a form of support, instead it has you twisting away with a sharp yelp. The stab of discomfort youâd felt moments prior returns, only this time it is hotter, spreading in an intense wave along your spine. Before you can stop him he is hiking the back of your shirt up to look, one hand holding your shoulder firmly to keep you still.Â
âFuck did ya do?â
âI uhhâŚâ you shake your head, trying to remember the full events from the hours earlier, âmust have hit it on the beams of something.â
âHit-â he lets the shirt fall back down, stepping back into your line of sight, âyou âave a cut the length of my forearm yaâ eejit.â
You blink at him, â... I didnât-â
You blink again, shaking your head in confusion until your eyes land on the hole Soap just pulled you through. â... the wood- I remember it dug in a bit when I went down there, I didnât realise-â
âJesus Christ,â Soap moves a hand to the back of your neck, steering you toward the office building, âteamâs waitinâ for us, Iâll let cap know you need the medic.â
You don't have much choice but to fall in step beside him, allowing him to navigate you forward, âhow bad is it?â
âShallow, wonât need stitches at least,â his grip on your neck tightens momentarily in what you think is meant to be reassurance, but all it does is remind you of the feeling of someone's tight grip on your scruff.Â
âSoap could you-â your shoulders tighten in discomfort, âmove your hand please.â
The man's footsteps slow, the hold he has on you loosening. His eyes sweep over the tension in your shoulders, the way your face has stiffened. With a slow nod he shifts to gently holding your bicep, not willing to let go completely with how unsteady you still look. âThaâ alright instead?â
With a soft breath of relief you manage a small nod in return, âthanks.â
Soap hums softly, moving his gaze back to the path ahead as he again increases his speed. The two of you walk in silence for a few minutes, him staring pointedly ahead while you focus on steadying the ever fluctuating pace of your heart.Â
You break the silence with a soft voice, throat feeling tight as you do, âsorry for⌠disappearing.â
He hums, eyes flicking toward you in his peripheries briefly, âwas a pretty stressful night.â
âNight? What do you mean?â you frown.
He fully looks at you then, brows narrowed as though youâve said something in another language. His voice is slow when he speaks as if worried what he is about to say will frighten you, â... youâve been gone since 3pm yesterday.Â
âThree-,â you cough violently, feet catching on the pavement as you stumble. âI thought it had been a few hours notâŚâ
âA whole day,â Soap fills in.Â
You fall back into silence, trying not to spiral over the thought of losing that much time without realising. Soap seems to understand itâs best to stay quiet too, just concentrating on keeping you moving toward Priceâs office. The hallways are relatively empty, which you are grateful for knowing the state you currently look. It doesnât take long to reach the captainâs office, they door cracked slightly open allowing the sound of quiet discussion to float into the corridor. Soap releases his hold on you, pushing the door open and stepping inside. All eyes are on you in an instant, Price, Gaz and Ghost all pausing their conversation as you tentatively step into the room, pulling the door closed behind you. A white bandage is wound around Gazâs palm, the sight making your stomach churn with shame.Â
Soap makes his way to Price, leaning close to murmur something in the man's ear. Soap nods toward you and you can only assume he is filling the captain in on the state he found you in. You shift from foot to foot, hands interlocked behind your back to stop yourself from fidgeting. Soap finally takes a step back, letting Priceâs attention turn fully to you.Â
The captain taps his index finger on his desk twice, tilting his head to the side, âitâs time for a long overdue chat.â
You dig your nails into the palm of your hand, forcing your shifting feet still as you wait for him to continue.Â
With a sigh Price runs a hand through his hair, tilting back in his chair, "withholding your status as a changeling raises some serious concerns surrounding your reliability on this team, coupled with the incident yesterday raises some warning signs. Do you have anything you would like to clarify about your actions?â
You flinch at the term, head shaking as you look toward your shoes, âdonât call me that.â
âExcuse me?â
Your eyes flick to the captains, steely and firm. Your voice comes out sharp and unwavering, âI said donât call me that, sir.â
His jaw ticks once, âwe are discussing your future upon this team and you believe itâs a good time to correct my grammar?â
You take one step forward, nails digging into your palm harder as you stand firm, âI will not stand here and be demoralized. If you expect me to be grateful that you decided to keep me alive, to allow you to treat me as lesser now that you know what I am, then you may as well draft up my discharge papers because I would rather walk away completely than be the team's shit kicker.âÂ
Four sets of eyes all locked on you, none of them saying a word. This would be the time most would back down and apologise, rather than jeopardise their entire career over a single word. But with everything that has happened yours is probably already up in flames, you owe it to at least advocate for yourself.Â
â.... sit down kid,â Price gestures to the empty chair in front of his desk.Â
âIâd rather-â
âSit your arse down sergeant,â he orders, fixing you with a stare that has your heart stuttering. Slowly you slink into the seat, hands clenching together in your lap as the bravado evaporates as quickly as it had appeared.Â
âRest of you, step out,â Price one hand at the other men, pointing them to the exit. That order shocks you. Your eyes widen as you watch the other three file out of the room without so much as a protest, the door clicking shut behind them.Â
âTalk.â
You swallow hard, voice catching roughly in your throat, â... what?â
âIâm not a mind reader kid. You donât trust the team, canât fix that unless you tell me why,â he leans back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other, âso talk, Iâll listen, weâll go from there.â
You shrug, staring at the edge of his desk rather than meet his eyes directly, âI donât know what to say.â
Price hums, tapping his desk lightly again, âstart with why that word bothered you so much.â
With a sigh you sink further into the seat, shifting uncomfortably as the cut on your back protests, â... itâs not a kind term for people like me.â
He tilts his head in consideration, âlike an insult?â
âYeah, something like that,â you pinch and twist at the skin on the back of your hand, the slight discomfort bringing and odd sense of soothing.Â
âRight, Iâll make sure not to use it anymore.â
You freeze, wondering if for a second you misheard the man, â... just like that?â
Price nods, âitâs a simple request sergeant, would make me a right wanker to continue on saying it if the word makes you uncomfortable.â
There arenât any words you can seem to form in response, so you elect to stay quiet. Price waits a few moments before speaking again, âwe should talk about what happened In the humvee-â
âI donât want to talk about that,â you say sharply.Â
If he was bothered by your tone he doesnât show it, instead just narrowing his gaze in assessment, âyou were somewhere else.â
You let out a surprised laugh, â... I donât know what you-â
He holds up a hand to stop you, âIâm not asking for the full story, not right now. But I will need some sort of explanation to fully consider the likelihood of an incident like that occurring again, especially in the field.â
This entire conversation has your head in a spin, feeling like the world has flipped on its axis, âI donât understand.â
âUnderstand what?â Price asks.Â
You shrug as if itâs obvious, âyour angle. What are you hoping to get out of this?â
âSome clarity on our current predicament,â he speaks the words slowly, like talking to a child. That has something in your gut flickering with heat.Â
âBullshit.â
He sighs, âIs it so unbelievable that there is no ulterior motive?â
âYes,â you say bluntly. When he stares at you in a way that can only be described as at a loss, you continue to explain knowing he canât deny it is you bring the situation to light, âyou were all angry and now suddenly you're not⌠the only reason I can think of is youâve got some sort of plan that requires my cooperation.â
â.... Sergeant, why do you think the team was angry with you?â he says quietly, expression softening.Â
âBecause Iâm a shifter. If you all had known you wouldnât have put me on the team in the first place,â you say, chewing the inside of your cheek once you finish.Â
Price stares at you for what feels like a long time, causing you to shrink instinctively under his gaze. Maybe you shouldnât have said anything. Price crosses his arms on the desk, leaning forward, âWe were never angry with you kid, we were hurt that you not only lied to us but also put yourself at risk. Your illness was preventable, and allowing yourself to get to that bad a state affected not only you but the entire taskforce.â
That isâŚ. Not the answer you were expecting. You donât have long to contemplate before he continues, âI understand you didnât have faith we would react to the news kindly, but your decision to withhold that information until you were almost requiring hospitalisation was, in the nicest way possible, idiotic.â
Price shakes his head, one hand lifting up in slight frustration, âwe are all fortunate that this did not occur under worse circumstances. If we had been in an active combat zone, or unable to get medical, or god forbid you did more than just bite Gaz on the hand. It could have been far more detrimental.â
âSo you all think Iâm a liability now,â you murmur quietly.Â
The captain scoffs, âkid, we are worried about you. After everything that happened yesterday, do you want to know the first question Gaz had when I checked in on him at the infirmary?â
You donât respond, instead swallowing down the lump in your throat.
Price nods his head toward the door the others had left through, âHe asked if you were alright, and when I told him you were still missing he tried to head straight out to join the others looking for you. Had to order him to stand down. Hell Ghost and Soap would have been out there all night too unless Iâd forced âem to rest.â
â...oh,â you feel as though your entire body is deflating.Â
He clears his throat, âYou are a valuable asset to this taskforce, I would prefer you stay a part of it. However, if you canât trust your teammates to have your back and disclose relevant information then perhaps itâs not the best spot for you.â
That has your breath catching in your throat, the reality of your situation careening down like a slab of concrete, âso youâre discharging me.â
âNo,â he holds up a hand, âIâm giving you the opportunity to reflect on what you believe is the right step forward for yourself. I canât make the decision of whether you trust us or not, it has to come from you.â
âButâŚâ he sighs again, âif you do choose to stay, understand that will be on the condition that the entire team is brought up to speed on any information I deem necessary, that is non-negotiable. I will not have us blindsided again.â
Price scratches at the back of his neck, âI wish I could offer you as much time as you need, but you understand the nature of this job as well as all of us. The best I can give you is the week, if you havenât made a call by then I will have to.â
âAnd what call will that be?â you ask quietly.Â
âBy not making a decision, you would be making one anyhow. A non-committal is not a dedicated member of this team,â he pushes his chair back from the desk, stepping toward the door and pulling it open for you, âgo get yourself cleaned up kid, and check in with the medic about your back.â
The hallway is empty when you step into it, and you don't know whether to be glad for the lack of stares, or if it is just a reminder of how alone you truly feel.

Part 1 | Previous Part | Next Part
The feeling of the humvee coming to a stop should bring some feeling of relief. You have been curled in the same position for what feels like the better part of a day and your limbs have been cramping for at least half of that time. However when you hear the rear doors swing open and then shut as both Gaz and Soap make a hasty disembark all you feel is the deep brewing a dread begin to coil in your gut. Back on base, at the mercy of your comrades. Exposed.
The door beside you swings open and Gaz is reaching toward you in an instant, but you donât see Gaz, all you see is the hoard. Once again you are twenty two, desperate for your rifle, not a form of protection but instead a security that you can control the outcome before others have the chance. But you donât have your rifle today.Â
In truth itâs not your fault, they all should know better. A cornered dog always bites.Â
This time when you lunge toward the fingers you donât miss, teeth in flesh, blood in mouth and a sharp yell echoing from the startled man. The metallic taste is bitter upon your tongue, acidic, and it should make you draw away but instead you just sink your teeth in harder. Screaming. The sound of tearing flesh. A swarm of people.Â
A hand pulls at your scruff, tugging you backward, lifting your front paws off the floor. Your bite on the palm releases immediately, focus shifting to ridding yourself of the hold on your neck. A high pitched yowl rips from your throat, ricocheting within the vehicle. The grip on you falters, and thatâs all the opportunity you need to wrench free and launch yourself outside, slipping between the two figures by the door. Yelling follows as you sprint across the dirt, pounding footsteps in pursuit that only spur you to run faster. But you know you canât run forever. You need somewhere to hide, someplace they canât get to you, and when your eyes land on the broken paneling spanning the base of a nearby building you decide that is your best option.Â
Itâs a tight squeeze, the splintered wood scratching at your pelt as you force yourself through the small opening, but you do not slow even as it bites into your skin. The space beneath the building is dark, the ground covered with dirt and rock. Pipe work and beams span the area, making for a difficult maze of obstacles for any person to navigate through, but in this form it offers little trouble. The further you scramble, deeper into the abyss, the more the light diminishes until it is almost impossible to see.Â
The sounds that had been following you are long gone now, unable to pursue you any further which allows you enough reassurance to finally still. It is only then that you notice the shakiness to your limbs, the tremble that travels across your body. Your lungs burn, chest heaving with each shallow breath you draw in. As the adrenaline withers and your heart slows all you are left with is exhaustion, unable to go on even if you wanted to. You fall heavily to the rough ground, legs extended as you lay on your side. Just a small rest, enough to recover, then you can think clearly. Sleep comes for you fast and unforgiving.Â
You wake to the cool press of dirt against your cheek, dust filling your nose when you inhale sharply causing you to cough and wretch. Your head collides sharply with the wooden beam above you as you push yourself upright, vision spotting as your hand moves to cradle your now pounding skull. It takes a few moments to realise where you are, for the memories of hours prior to come flooding in all at once. Your throat is dry and scratchy, mouth parched after breathing in the dust for however long you have been down here. Thereâs a sharp pain in your back that flares each time you twist your torso and the taste of old blood in your mouth.Â
Itâs hard to move, limbs knocking with pipes and stones as you try to navigate toward the sliver of light you can see in the distance. The process is slow and tedious, often finding yourself coming to spaces too narrow to squeeze through and having to backtrack to find an alternate route. Getting in seemed like such an easy feat, you donât understand why getting out suddenly poses such a problem.Â
You find yourself breathing a small sigh of relief when the way out finally becomes clear in your line of sight, the same broken paneling you had slipped through earlier. However something seems wrong, the hole looks entirely too small to get through now. Your fingers trace along the gap, pulling at the wood to try and widen the opening, hoping the wood is loose enough to pry off. A sharp his leaves your mouth as a splinter lodges its way into your palm, and as you press the stinging skin against your teeth to try and pull the piece loose you finally realise why getting out is suddenly such a difficulty. Fingers. You have fingers. A quick glance down at your own body affirms the situation, you shifted back in your sleep.Â
Your skin is covered with dirt, small scrapes covering your knees and shins from crawling over the rough ground and worst of all is your distinct lack of clothes. Two weeks ago if you had been told you would wake up cold, dirty and naked in a small dark space you would assume you had been taken captive, instead you just lay in the hole of your own making. With a growl of frustration you punch at the wood, dislodging a few planks. Not that it does you any good, even with space to crawl out you have no intention of stepping out into the open with your current appearance.Â
You sink backward, leaning against one of the upright support beams with a sigh, tucking your knees to your chest. If the team wasnât angry with you before you have no doubt they would be now, how the hell are you supposed to go back to them in this state. The sound of footsteps approaching pulls you from your thoughts, a shadow passing over the hole blocking the light from entering. Instinctively you curl in on yourself, drawing your legs closer in an attempt to stay hidden but the effort proves futile.
âThaâ you sergeant?â Soapâs voice echoes toward you.Â
Thereâs no use denying it, the man only needs to crouch down to be able to confirm his suspicion. You clear your throat lightly, voice coming out in a croak, âIâm here.â
The man is squatting down to get a better look at you in an instant, shifting to the side to allow some light through in order to make out your figure better in the dark. His eyes sweep over what you can only assume is a very rough view, a flutter of discomfort growing in your stomach at his scrutinisation.
âYaâ shifted back,â he says, tone laced with surprise.
âYeah,â you tighten your arms around your legs, trying to shield yourself the best you can. After a few quiet moments you murmur out a soft request, voice cracking as you do, âcould you get me some clothes please.â
Soap stares at you for a tense second, the churning in your gut only increasing until finally he offers a stiff nod. He stands quickly, disappearing from sight. You can hear his brisk footsteps fade away until finally they disappear completely and you are left hoping that he does indeed come back with only the clothes and not the entirety of the 141 on his heels.Â

Part 1 | Previous Part | Next Part
Itâs been six hours, and you still havenât moved from your place beneath the sofa. Ghost has been back for a few hours, bringing food and hot drinks for the team. It seems he had been slightly optimistic about your predicament as he had even brought a drink back for you, it now sits undrunk and cold on one of the bedside tables. Gaz and Price have yet to make another appearance, though you know they havenât gone far as their scents still waft through the door every so often and you catch the faint sounds of conversation. You have overheard enough to know that Price has been in touch with the base, apparently the team is expected to return within 24 hours now that the storm has broken.Â
The thought of them leaving you here has a deep ache settling into your chest. Even though it was you who made the offer for them to leave you behind, note you down as MIA, it doesnât make the reality of it any easier. You just hope they might leave you the motel room for a few days longer, even if they donât owe it to you. Despite the storm having passed, the temperature outside is still far from forgiving. If you were forced to brave the wild still stuck in this form, the likelihood of survival dwindles exponentially, a fact you know they would be aware of.Â
Soap has tried a couple times to coax you out into the open, mainly with the offer of food. It was getting harder to deny that you are hungry, the scent of the sandwiches Ghost brought back leeching into your nostrils no matter how hard you try to ignore it. With how ill you were in the previous days, and now being stuck shifted, your body has been without a meal for quite some time and your stomach has become quite persistent with its protests.Â
You arenât sure if itâs intentional, the way Soap almost taunts you with the food, holding it just far enough from the couch that you would have to step into the open in order to snatch it from his hand. And you know better than to do that, thereâs no saying what they plan to do once you are exposed, if Ghost is just waiting for the right moment to grab you while Soap has you distracted. So you stay put, pressing your flank against the peeling paint of the back wall, watching each movement they make from your hideaway.Â
The slam of a car door draws both of their attention, the noise causing one of your ears to flick toward it. Thereâs heavy footsteps trenching through the snow toward the door, based on the smell you know itâs Price and Gaz. When the door to the room opens both Ghost and Soap are on their feet, casting one last glance toward you before stepping out into the living room and pulling the door shut behind them with a soft click. Their voices are quiet, as though they donât want you to hear, but with your sensitive hearing you hardly need to try and decipher the words as the conversation remains clear despite their attempts.
âAny change?â Priceâs voice is rough from the cold, throat slightly hoarse.
âStill dinnae wanna come out, canât get âem to communicate either,â Soap says with a deep sigh.Â
The captain huffs through his nose, âcommand wants us back asap, so weâve run out of time to wait this out.â
âWhatâs the plan?â Ghost grunts.Â
âAs soon as we are back on base the sergeants will get them back to the barracks as quickly and discreetly as possible. Iâll stop the humvee by the back entrance to avoid too much attention and then Ghost and I will go return the humvee as normal. If any of the higher ups are waiting on our arrival theyâll be in the vehicle bays, if they question any of your whereabouts, Iâll tell them you have all come down with a mild illness and have been dismissed to the barracks in order to recover. That should buy us at least the rest of the day before being expected for the debrief,â Price explains, voice methodical and assured.Â
Soap clears his throat, voice lowering further âand what if they are still stuck by the time we are expected to debrief?â
You can hear Price shuffle his feet slightly, âthen we cross that bridge when we get there.â
âNot like you to be without contingency plans,â Ghost says in return.
âCanât say this is a scenario I have ever prepared for, if you have suggestions I am more than open to hearing them.â
It falls silent, clearly none of the other men having a better idea as to the best steps forward. After a few moments, the door to your room pushes open, the captain entering quietly and pulling the door shut behind him.Â
âDid you hear all that?â His tone is surprisingly soft, like heâs talking to a frightened animal and you suppose in some way he is.Â
You offer a soft rumble in affirmation, not quite a growl but with enough deepness to make your displeasure toward the plan clear.Â
Price takes a few careful steps toward you, still far enough that you donât feel boxed in, but close enough that he can find your eyeline when he crouches down to glance at you, âyou know youâll need to come out from down there, Iâd rather you do it on your own volition.â
The thought of exposing yourself draws a whine from your throat, high pitched and almost pitiful. The captain's voice drops softer in response, holding his hands up in placation, âno oneâs gonna hurt you kid, wonât even touch ya if thatâs what you want. But you canât stay under there forever, we have to head back.â
Itâs not as though you have any other option. You can choose to stay hidden, but itâs likely that Price will just move the sofa eventually to get you out. No matter your choice the outcome will be the same, only one will result in an angry captain which is something you would rather avoid.Â
Slowly, you inch out into the open, tail low in wariness. You donât move your gaze from him, ready bolt at the sign of sudden movement. Price takes in a sharp breath, sweeping his gaze over your appearance for the first proper view of your shifted shape. You pause a few feet from him, waiting out his reaction with bated breath. His hands are empty along with his holsters, which at least reassures you that thereâs low intention to cause you harm, but the sight of disgust from him would still be a damaging experience.
â.... least no one will pay too much attention to yaâ, donât know what I wouldâve done if you were something exotic or god forbid humongous,â a small attempt at humour, one you are grateful for. The hackles that had been brimming along your spine lower, ears no longer stiff and alert but instead moving toward relaxed. Price smells⌠calm, which surprises you. Over the smell of guns, cigars and sweat, thereâs something distinctly him and though the comfort it brings you is small, it is still a comfort none the less.Â
âThe others are packing the gear, can take you to the humvee while they're distracted if you want.â
Itâs an offer you werenât expecting, one that has you perking up in interest. Youâd been preparing yourself for the presentation, for Price to force you in front of the group like a show pony on display. Itâs⌠thoughtful, which is not a trait you would have ever thought would be displayed in this scenario.Â
âWant me to carry you out so your paws donât get damaged on the snow?â
The idea of being carried has your heart beginning to race. Itâs a risky position to be in, unable to get away if you were in danger, at the mercy of the captain completely. Do you trust him enough? Thatâs the question you have to ask yourself. If he wanted you dead you already would be by now, but that still doesnât offer full clarity to his motivation keeping you around. You believe he does want to take you back to the base, which means he will indeed take you to the humvee as offered. You can let your guard down for now, at least for this, then once you're on base you can figure out what exactly he wants from you. As Price said before, you'll cross that bridge when you get there.
His hands are firm but comfortable when he lifts you from the floor, holding you securely against his chest as he carries you out the bedroom and toward the door outside. The others are indeed packing as he had claimed, too busy in their task to offer more than a quick glance toward the captain who has angled himself in front of your body as much as possible to shield you from view.Â
The air outside is still bitter, your short coat not designed for temperatures this low. Thankfully the humvee is already warming up, the temperature inside much more comfortable. Price places you on the floor of the front passenger seat, the heater blowing directly on you which draws a satisfied huff. The captain offers you a small smile before shutting the door. You are quick to curl up in the footwell, as out of sight as you can be in the limited space.Â
Itâs only a few minutes later that you hear the rear doors open, a cold breeze slipping while the rest of the team load up. You can feel the glances toward you, finally able to make out more of your form. They donât say anything, for that you are grateful. Itâs a long drive back, you just hope that they keep whatever thoughts they have to themselves for the duration.

Price is greeted by the sight of Ghost leaning stiffly against the wall when he enters the bedroom come morning. The lieutenant had pulled the early hour watch duty, originally taking over from Gaz and resigning himself to the couch in the living space, but eventually gravitating into your room to see when you wake up. The captain gives him a small nod as he steps into the bedroom, Gaz and Soap poking their heads in behind him and scanning the space.Â
âWhere have they disappeared to?â Gaz directs his question toward Ghost, noting the untouched bedsheets.Â
Ghost tilts his head toward the couch, drawing the group's eyes to the dark space beneath the sofa, a small shape just able to be detected.Â
âThey awake?â Price takes a step toward their hiding spot, glancing at Ghost as he waits for an answer.Â
The lieutenant grunts, shrugging his shoulders, âhavenât seen âem move yet, only sound Iâve âeard is breathingâ
âTried talking to them?â
Ghost only shakes his head, scratching lightly at his throat, âthatâs a job more in Johnnyâs forte.â
Soap lets out a soft noise of indignation, slapping at the lieutenantâs shoulder as he steps further into the room, âIâd rather be a chatterbox than a brick wall.â
âChaterbox is an understatement mate, you could talk under water with a mouth full of marbles,â Gaz ruffles at Soaps mohawk, drawing a low huff from the man.Â
Price ignores the bickering of the other men, instead creeping closer to where you are. He crouches low, scanning the crevice until his eyes land on the furry figure tucked in the back corner. He can see the light reflecting off the whites of your eyes, tracking each of his movements with undivided attention. You're leant back on your haunches, muscles twitching as they prepare to spring forward at a moment's notice, the hackles on your back raising the closer the captain gets.
Price sits in silence, studying each slight movement you make, shifting from side to side in order to track the way you watch him. The three men behind him allow their conversation to dissipate in favour of watching in silence, ready should Price give an order.Â
âCome out from there sergeant,â Price says, tone direct and demanding.
You donât move.Â
The captain clicks his tongue, leaning closer, âeither you come out on your own, or Iâll have to get you out, the choice is up to you.â
Once again he is met with no response, a twinge of frustration beginning to build in his gut. With an annoyed grunt he shifts onto his hands and knees, fixing you with a firm stare, âdonât make this harder than necessary.â
Your ears pin back against your skull, a rumble building in your throat. With a sigh he reaches one hand beneath the couch, shifting closer to try and reach the far corner you huddle into. You lunge at the hand, teeth snapping sharply against the air mere inches from the outstretched fingers before scrambling backward, only stopping when your back meets the wall. Price pulls his hand out quickly, wiggling his fingers as though checking they are in fact all still attached. With a grunt he pushes himself to stand, crossing his arms over his chest and tapping the toe of his boot against the leg of the couch.Â
âThereâs a conversation needing to be had and that canât happen till you switch back,â Priceâs tone is firm, eyes unblinking as he waits for you to come out into the open. When there are no signs of movements from you his voice sharpens, âsergeant I wonât ask again.â
âReckon they're stuck,â Soap states, stepping past Price to get closer to where you remain.Â
Price blinks once, gaze narrowing toward the man, â...what makes you say that?â
âDoubt theyâd stay like thaâ any longer than they had to, considering they didnae wanna change in the first place. If they could swap back they would haâ by now,â Soap crouches down so he can meet your eyes in the darkness beneath the seat, tilting his head to the side in question, âthaâ right?â
A small whimper is all he gets in response, but thatâs enough for him. He turns his head back to the others, âtold yaâ.
Price scrubs a hand over his face, sighing deeply, âgreat, just what we need.â
Gaz tilts his head to the side, squinting at your hiding spot, âso⌠what now?â
âIâŚâ Price frowns, jaw ticking, âdonât know.â
The teams gazes all snap toward their captain, staring at him like heâs suddenly grown another head. Without another word Price turns and steps out, pulling the door shut firmly as he goes. No one moves, not for a good few moments, until eventually Gaz shifts.Â
â.... Iâll go talk to him,â Gaz speaks quietly, slipping out of the room, leaving Ghost and Soap in an uncomfortable silence.Â
Their eyes meet from across the room, a silent conversation playing out between them. After a few moments Ghost drops the gaze nodding toward the couch Soap is still crouched beside. âKeep âem company, see if you can encourage âem out. Iâll head out for some food, be back in 30.â
âGet me a coffee?â Soap perks up, flashing Ghost a hopeful smile.
Ghost rolls his eyes and grumbles under his breath, tossing Soap a single begrudging nod before departing, the door clicking softly behind him. Soaps smile disappears quickly, face tightening as he turns back to you, your wide eyes catch the glint of the light. Soap holds a hand just in front of the sofa rather than reaching under after your reaction to Price earlier, instead giving you the option to come to him.Â
âCannae be very comfortable down there, you gonna come out?â
You press further into the dark recess, lips peeling bark to reveal your glistening teeth as a soft rumble vibrates out of your chest. Soap gets the message, withdrawing his hand with a quiet huff before pushing himself up. He sits heavily on the bed, springing lightly when he lands.Â
He leans back on his hands, kicking his legs back and forth slowly, âIâll be here if yaâ change your mind.â
