Here sesame street is trying to fill a gap where supportive adults should be. Where there should be a teacher or a family member or a counselor to help, for whatever reason, there isn’t, so Sesame Street is stepping in.

This breed of person has always hated Sesame Street. They hated it for showing black and white children playing together. They hated it for giving children of color the head start that rich white families were paying for. They hated it for Bert and Ernie for showing two MEN who LIVED TOGETHER, for the married black nurse who lived on sesame street when it was first released, and for them explaining death. I feel like there was a pregnancy at some point in its early days and they would have REALLY hated that.

These days they don’t (usually) say “I’m not letting my kid watch anything with black kids in it” but they sure throw a tantrum in the youtube comments when Sesame Street DARES to show an autistic girl playing with non-autistic children and being treated like shes anyone else. They lose their shit when Sesame Street has to explain incarceration to 5 year olds. And the muppet in south africa with HIV? Hoo boy.

Virginia is an open-carry state

It was stupid cold out; some folks wore balaclavas.  “Officers arrested 21-year-old Mikaela E. Beschler for allegedly violating the state’s anti-mask law after she continued wearing a bandanna despite a warning to uncover her face.”  

Prior to this event, my governor not only banned firearms on Capitol grounds (something he is not allowed to do), but declared a state of emergency while hyping up a full-scale stiff right arm salute filled riot/mass shooting

This event was not exclusive to “intimidating white men,” and I really wish this stereotype would die.  I’m 5′5″ and hardly intimidating at all.  Women were there and carrying, also.

Virginians attended.  ‘Mericans from other states attended.  Those who chose to carry remained outside of the Capitol grounds. 

 I understand your point is a lot more broad, and I am not arguing that that doesn’t happen.  But this event specifically had a lot more to with our governor thinking he can do whatever he wants because Michael Bloomberg bought our state legislature than race.  Ergo, in this particular instance, that argument is null.

He’s probably just pissed off in general, tbh.  I mean, this was a very sudden “Oh hey by the way, we’re gonna do x now” over, of all things, fuckin’ Instagram, in which the Queen wasn’t even consulted until after the fact.  So his wife’s embarrassed in front of literally the whole world, nobody really knows how this is going to work and is on a “well shit let’s just wing it” philosophy, and also it possible Sir may see this as the ultimate duty shirking, something he is ADAMANTLY against.
