Immediately after the words left her mouth Olivia was filled with remorse and dread. They were already late for evening church, but her mother wasn’t about to let her back talk slide. She had been patient all day. This was the last straw.

“Sometimes church can wait” her mother said. “Bend over the couch now young lady.”

Her mother went to the kitchen and pulled the paddle off the wall. It had been a long time since she paddled her daughter’s bottom, and this was her last resort.

“Im sorry mom”

“It’s too late for that” her mother calmly said.

Cassandra waited nervously for her Mom. When Mom came into the room she couldn't look up at her as what she feared the "talk" was going to be about came true. She had left the cheat sheet at the desk where she took the test! Cassandra squirmed and looked down as Mom scolded her. The shame she had felt while cheating was just amplified a thousand times and her autistic nervous system started to make her toes and fingers tingle.

Cassandra had agreed to accept her Mom's discipline as long as she lived at home, and despite being perfectly aware of her daughter's Neurodivergence, Mom kept a paddle on Cassandra's nightstand and gave her disciplinary spankings. So already feeling guilty and being used to spankings, Cassandra wasn't surprised and didn't resist when after scolding her Mom picked up the paddle

Cassandra's Mom paddled her butt cheeks as she made a failing effort to stay still. Her Mom flipped up her nightgown and spanked her bare bottom, something she instinctively pulled away from at first. She did not stay still for the bare bottom part of her paddling. The spanking stung her butt, but the shame from what she had done melted away from the intensity of the discipline.

After the spanking, Cassandra collapsed and gripped her Mom's hands as she knelt on the floor. She was still unable to look at her Mom but she was able to release her feelings. Through tears, Cassandra explained in detail what she had done and why she had cheated. She told her Mom how overwhelmed and scared she had felt and how she had known she was doing something wrong the whole time.

Mom's tone was completely different now. She rubbed Cassandra's anxious hands and spoke in a soothing, gentle voice that contrasted with the earlier sharp scolding. She told Cassandra she understood how difficult things were for her and that she was forgiven and loved. But also that what she did was unacceptable and she would have to deal with consequences at school tomorrow. Mom lifted her up and embraced her, saying, "Now get some rest."
