As If

Hear me out:

Donna and Eric could’ve went off to college, and do different cameos every 5 or so episodes. (b/c I know Topher had previous commitments but honestly the Africa plot line was stupid and I still don’t get why Donna stayed in point place when she was so desperate to get out)

Kelso could’ve got the closure he deserved and instead of moving to Chicago for a job he would’ve left so he could have a more active role in his daughters life.

That whole love triangle between Jackie/Kelso/Hyde would’ve been nonexistent because guess what? That’s already been solved in Season 5/6 so we would’ve had an engaged Jackie and Hyde in Point Place.

If we needed drama between the two, we could’ve saw them struggle with HEALTHY problems that comes with an engagement. (Wedding planning, them moving in together, etc etc)

If we needed even MORE drama between the two, we could’ve had Jackie get into a scholarship program for college and her struggle with what she thought was her biggest dream (getting married) and an opportunity she never thought she could have.

We could’ve saw Fez move up in the ranks at the hair salon before becoming the first chair. Before deciding that he wanted to open up his own salon. (Also I kinda wanted to see a ladies man Fez soo maybe that’s where he met his future string of girlfriends?)

Red and Kitty could’ve been the safety net, and their shenanigans could’ve centered around Kitty learning how to cope with an empty nest and rediscovering herself while Red supported her. (Leo and Bob ofc would help with these shenanigans)

We could’ve saw more parrells between Red and Kitty/Jackie and Hyde. Plus have them help the two with their early engagement problems

THE FINALE could’ve been the same new year premise but Donna/Eric would’ve both been home from college, Kelso would’ve brought Brooke and Betsy to the NYE party announcing that him and Brooke were giving the relationship thing another go. Jackie/Hyde would’ve been at the point where it was understood that they would be getting married just after she completed college, and Hyde could’ve stepped up announced that W.B. and him was opening up another store location in her college town. Fez would announce the opening of his salon and Red/Kitty would look at their basement kids proudly bc they have MATURED AND GOT OUT OF THE DAMN BASEMENT. BOOM HAPPY ENDING DONE. WELCOME TO THE 80s

Enchantress:

I want to write about Blaine and Rachel going back to college and second chances and redemption and hard work and humility.  (And songs, lots of songs, and I made myself laugh today thinking about them singing Chumbawumba’s “Tubthumping.”)  I want to write about Kurt and Elliott and identity and standing out and finding a place and being different and special.  (And songs, lots of songs.)  I want to write about Kurt and Rachel at NYADA, rising through the ranks together as BFFs, supporting each other, Rachel listening to Kurt’s experience (sometimes) and Kurt being her biggest fan.  I want to write about Blaine and Elliott and NYU and their growing friendship (tentative at first, perhaps, what with Elliott remembering the drama and also being Kurt’s friend first and Blaine maybe being ashamed of the conclusions he jumped to in the past), the way Elliott’s mellowness can put Blaine at ease and their shared love of the spotlight can end up with them singing a duet together in the middle of the cafeteria.

I want to write about Kurt and Blaine living together again, now married, and how things are different and how things are the same.  I want to write about echoes of old fights, of spots that are still tender, of learning new ways to figure things out, of being scared to fail, of loving each other so deeply, of negotiation and compromise and dancing in the living room and duets in the shower and quiet nights of homework and stress and cups of tea and being in the front row of student performances.

I want to write about Kitty visiting New York and a new tradition of potlucks at Kurt and Blaine’s apartment with the growing group of friends of Brittany and Santana and Rachel and Artie and Jesse and Elliott.  I want dancing on the sidewalk and Santana wearing ever-shorter dresses and Blaine missing Sam but finding new friends and Rachel finding that she doesn’t have to push to be respected and songs around the piano and Kurt nailing his solo performance in front of the school and Blaine having another crisis about what he should do with his life and Nightbird in New York and silly shenanigans and…

Basically, I realized today, I want to write a season seven of Glee.

I want to see all of the hard work and all of the steps to get them to their happy endings.

I still want to see all of these things.  I still miss my show.

1) the audience singing Darren’s part during “Not Alone” like it’s some kind of hive-mind moment where everyone just knows everyone else is going to do it

2) the audience yelling their respective houses at the appropriate times in Back to Hogwarts

3) Joey, without fail, kicking the air when he gets to the “kick some ass” line in Back to Hogwarts

4) the audience collectively losing their shit when Joey and Lauren end up onstage alone together because they know what’s coming next

7) different choreography for songs every new performance they do

A musical about Harry Potter??? This is reason enough
