Homeless People Read Mean Tweets About Themselves To End Stereotypes
When celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, it’s funny. When homeless people do it, it’s heartbreaking.
In a powerful PSA by Canadian advocacy group Raising the Roof, people who are dealing with homelessness read actual tweets written about those living without stable shelter. See all of the emotional reactions here.

this is important.
Poverty is not a product of laziness (as some foolishly argue) because we live in a system designed to exploit some for the benefit of others. Your privilege is the product of oppression. Never forget that.
No but why would someone do that to them? Some of them might be extremely self conscious now or would get depressed. You don’t know how it will affect a person come on this is cruel :/
This is horrifying to me. I first became homeless as a child in my early teens, and spent the better part of a decade homeless. pretty sure it had nothing to do with laziness. Pretty sure when i was working for bank of america at 18, wearing a threadbare shirt and slacks over my tshirt and jeans, and holey converse to work, knowing my coworkers could see me jeans past the too short hems of my pants, knowing they could see the tshirt through the threadbare shirt, knowing they were judging me, even as I racked up commissions and worked long hours to have someplace to be, im fairly certain i wasnt living in the parking garage of my fucking office because I was lazy. Fuck i hate people.
