i’m fat, intersex, and disabled. so many times if i hung out with someone, their outfit gets complimented but not mine (even if i that person literally picked out my outfit so its not a matter of me just not having a good fashion taste). so many times have people treated other people around me kind but their attitude changes immediately if they have the misfortune to interact with me. i don’t do anything to warant this besides looking different. i get treated like i’m not there or not human. it sucks.

They want buckskin and face paint, drumming, songs in languages they can’t understand recorded for them but with English subtitles, of course. They want educated, well spoken, but not too smart. Christian, well behaved, never question. They want to learn the history of the people, but not the ones that are here now, waving signs in their faces, asking them for clean drinking water, asking them why their women are going missing, asking them why their land is being ruined.

They want fantastical stories of Indians that used to roam this land. They want my culture behind glass in a museum.

When Doji found Ryuga in his sleep in some hidden tomb, he was "burried" with items he was gonna use when he would wake up again and become emperor. If the Dragon Clan hadn't vanished, and Ryuga had awoken on the right time that is (I imagine a dragon or some important Dgc blader was supposed to wake him, but everything got ruined by the Dragon Clan's downfall).

Doji took those belongings and saved them for when Ryuga was older and right before he was supposed to go to Koma village to take L Drago. Doji knew that Ryuga was of royal blood, but he warped the title "The Dragon Emperor" into just a "nickname" sorta thing he gave Ryuga, and pretended that it was a gift from him. That's why Ryuga used that title as just a thing he named himself, not something he was ment to be for others, which further shocks him to his core when he finds out his past and the true meaning of that title. Doji did this intentionally to boost his ego, which is interresting because in Masters and Fury, Ryuga thought he had completely detatched himself from Doji with freeing L Drago from the dark power. However, he was impacted by his upbringing in the Dark Nebula until his "death", because he carried the power-hungry high ego trait with him that Doji fed to him, "become stronger, power is the most important above all else" thing stuff like that y'know.

Also despite Ryuga being an older child when Doji found him, he didn't remember anything from his Dgc past. Defects from sleeping in a crystal for a 100 years I guess. All the memories start to appear as he finds data about himself at the abandoned Dark Nebula facility, and when wandering through the ruins and temples Ryuto shows him ect. (I imagine he visits the Dark Nebula facility multiple times, Kenta also manages to get Madoka to come with them so she can log into the computers there and find more data. It took some convincing to Ryuga but he says yes because he wants to know more. This could be later in the story and a gate opener for how Ryuga gets re-introduced to the others again, but still a massive wip lollll)

it is evident that the general tumblr populous has written off most historically black art forms near entirely. this applies to music, film, art history, etc. rather, the art engaged with and popularized in tumblr spheres is that of "good representation" which usually takes the form of idk, a black side character on your tv show whose personality is a huge nothingburger, but is appealing because they are not "problematic."

i think alot of this comes down to people's inability to make judgement calls for themself about what is ethical and what is right. this can be seen in conversations about kink when people say "anything as long as it's legal," sorry but, that is an incredibly bad faith and spineless read. the law should not decide your morals, you should, because anything can be criminalized, and your distinction of a perverse harmful action versus an acceptable one hinges upon your ability to make a decision about what you think is right.

when white allegedly woke users don't engage with black art, what i see is this: a person who does not know how to engage with art in a critical way that is decided by what they think–because this art causes them to confront what they think. often, when white and engaging with black art, you will be confronted by your own racist presumptions, your own back-of-mind urges, and that is the most important part. everyone is racist, because we undeniably live under white supremacy and are thus subject to racist propaganda near constantly (insert sydney sweeney jeans ad).
