How are you really doing?
“i’m fine. why wouldn’t i be?”
doctormchottie:
“London is okay, it’s kinda cold.” Nancy shrugged. “I was there for ten years, I did really like it. It was incredibly different.”
“i like sweater weather. i love the rain --- i get told that most people that live where it rains a lot that they end up hating it, but i’ve always loved it. and the fog. i love it all,” she said. “what made you decide to move? if --- if it’s okay that i ask, i mean.”
‘ are you sure we should be doing this ? it kind of feels like cheating . ’
“um, i’m offended,” trixie said. “i do not cheat. never have, never will, i don’t cheat on anything --- not even at monopoly, okay? it’s not cheating. it’s a loophole. a legal loophole. those are allowed.”
‘ whatever you need , i’ve got you . all hands on deck . ’
trixie smiled, her fingers fiddling with a piece of string. “i appreciate it. you never can have too many people in your corner, yanno? some people need a village,” she said, softly.

was Seattle your first choice?
“yep! it wasn’t the only hospital i applied to, but i was the most excited about it. i grew up here, just about. i’ve been a patient at this hospital quite a few times and they’ve been amazing every single time. i wanted to be part of that.”
what do you want your main practice to be ?
“pediatrics and neonatal, like i’m already doing.”
Sloan was in the ER and was hooking a patient up to check their blood pressure it was high so she made sure to keep that in the charts, twenty minutes had passed and the blonde went back to see if they needed anything when she say the patient was freaking out or couldn’t breath something was wrong, calling out for help when someone who was defiently not quilified came by and wanted to trach the person “ are you sure you should be doing that? shouldn’t you wait for a doctor?” she asked paniced, Sloan didn’t know all the doctors around here yet so maybe they were and she was just freaking out over nothing, but it was none she had ever seen in the ER yet, she was tired of these hotshot interens and residents trying to do stuff they shouldn’t , Looking around she kind of just watched and waited to see if the paient would be ok “ Mr. Carlson you’re going to be ok” ‘I hope “ she whispered the last part under her breath.
this wasn't her department. she was supposed to be on the peds floor, but she was trying to find her patient's mother, who was visiting another family member on this floor. she just needed some consent forms signed. that's it. when she heard a cry for help, she rushed --- that's what she was trained to do. if someone needs help, you help them. one could only imagine the horror on her face when she saw someone that wasn't hospital personnel cutting into a patient's throat. "what in the actual fuck is going on!" she snapped, running over to the patient and pushing away the unauthorized person. "first, get me a damn intubation tray and suture kit, and then call fucking security," she said, looking to sloan as she quickly put gloves on. "we don't let unauthorized personnel perform surgical procedures on patients, do you know how bad this looks on the hospital, on the staff?"

“if you think you know how to do my job better than me, then why didn’t you just become a neurosurgeon?” elena questioned looking at the person in front of her, getting tired of being question on how to do her job.
trixie bit her lip when she heard the other’s voice and she turned around, only to find her worst nightmare; one of her interns getting chewed out. she liked to think she had a good bunch, but she remembered being an intern --- it wasn’t long ago. it was last year. “hey,” trixie said, walking over to the pair. “do me a favor and get this back up to peds, please?” she asked, handing a clipboard to the intern. “and... please stay on the other doctors’ good sides, cause your behavior is a reflection on me, so --- check on laney white and stop thinking you’ve found something that the professional that’s had more years of training you didn’t think to check --- i promise you she’s checked. laney white. right now, please,” she said, watching the intern walk off and she pushed her hair out of her face, looking at the other doctor. “i take full responsibility for that, i’m so sorry. interns are eager, always think they have everything figured out --- i’ll have a talk with them at the end of their shift,” trixie promised.
“Maya decided to take up her offer for UW so we decided to stay. Guess New York will have to wait another ten years.”
“that’s great! congratulations. you can always visit new york, though. it’s beautiful. i can’t wait to go back and see the city.”
❛❛ you can do this maggie, it’s just first day nerves. ❜❜ maggie stood outside the hospital where she’d taken a job as a cardio fellow, the hospital that she found out her biological mother had worked at. that was just crazy to her and she wasn’t sure if she was regretting it in this moment. she began to walk towards the main doors when she collided with someone. ❛❛ i - i am so so sorry. ❜❜ she fumbled to help the other person pick up the papers that had been dropped as they collided.
she’d been in a hurry because she was due to be clocked in, in just under an hour. she liked to get all of her things settled and make sure she had all of the things she needed throughout the day, and as many times as she double checked to make sure she had those things, she needed that hour ahead of time to make sure she wasn’t missing anything. just as she got to the front of the building, she found herself bumping into someone and dropping her folder --- which were all papers that the hospital already had records of, but she liked to look through them at home to make sure she didn’t miss anything. “oh god!” she said, more startled than anything else. “oh no, you’re fine, i was --- i was rushing. wasn’t paying attention, i’m sorry,” she said, collecting the papers. “are you visiting a patient or are you part of staff?” she asked.
doctormchottie:
“My final three boxes have been shipped from London today.” A sad expression crossed Nancy’s face as she spoke. She was glad to be back in America, but it was so – different. She’d barely spoken to her family for ten years so didn’t know what to expect when she arrived, she hadn’t even warned them she was coming, it somehow made it feel less real if no one else knew.
“ooh, london. i’ve always wanted to visit london. and new zealand. i considered australia, but --- but they have supersized bugs and no thank you,” trixie said, shaking her head. “how long did you live in london? did you like it?” she asked.

Maybe she had been a bit too cheerful. Her friend was still going through a lot, but Lexie knew from the experience of losing her mom that no matter how many times people said they were sorry for the loss, it could never be erased. She slipped her hands into her lab coat as Trixie spoke. “I can understand being thankful for not everyone knowing your business. That happens far too often here.”
When they arrived on the ground floor, Lexie stepped out of the elevator and held the door for her friend. “You could always ask Karev. He’s pretty damn good with babies, but I hate cases like that. They are so incredibly frustrating.”
“it makes it easier, honestly. it’s always going to be something that i think about, but it’s nice for it to not be the only thing on my mind at work. and the kids help with that,” she said. trixie nodded. “that’s not a bad idea. maybe he’ll be able to figure out another way to help them. i just hate to tell them all hope is lost, yanno? how do you tell a family that even after months and months of hard work, there’s nothing else we can do for their child? i mean, she’s --- she’s nine months old, she hasn’t lived yet. she hasn’t even learned how to get messy with mashed potatoes. it’s not fair to her or them.”

greycalexandramd:
“Well, welcome back! I’m sorry I am late to the party, but what’s new?” Lexie asked shaking her head as she linked arms with the other woman. “We can head down to the cafeteria. I’m glad being back has gone well and everyone seems understanding. You need that.”
She steered them towards the elevator and pressed the down button. “Hopefully, some of those patients will at least be discharged soon with positive outcomes?” she offered. She knew her friend needed something positive to look forward to.
“well... i’m not pregnant anymore, so... not great, but... better than when it happened. i’m still in therapy. i’ve been cleared for surgery,” she said before nodding. “yeah. i do. i mean, it helps that a lot of the new people don’t know me or what happened. i’m kind of thankful for that.” trixie walked with her and nodded again with a small hum. “mhm. well... hopefully. one of them, i... i’m not sure. i might ask another doctor with more experience to take the case, i’ve hit a dead end and me not knowing what else to do doesn’t help the family or the baby. but everyone else is doing good.”
drmartiiinez:
“is that why you ended up becoming a doctor?”
trixie nodded with a small hum. “for the most part, yeah. i wanted to be able to help kids and babies the way i was helped. so, i worked my ass off to be able to do that.”
