Rosebud tea
I saw it for the first time at the market in Istanbul, large stand full of dried rosebuds. I was sceptical, and didn’t want to experiment so i decided to buy something verified, like green tea. (however, I bought it few months later)
Rose teas contain high level of vitamin C which helps the body fight off colds and flu germs and viruses.
It clears toxins and heat from the body. As a result it has a cooling effect on the body.
It can relieve from sore throat, runny nose and blocked bronchial tubes.
It is useful to people those prone to chest problems by fighting against infections.
Rose tea helps to fight the infection in the digestive tract and re-establish the normal bacterial population of the intestines.
It relieves fluid retention and hastens the elimination of wastes through kidneys.
It is a wonderful remedy for dysentery, diarrhea and gastro enteritis.
It is a laxative. It works as a remedy for all liver problems including sluggishness and constipation.
It cleanses the liver and gall bladder and promotes bile flow.
Rose petal tea can be used to relieve uterine congestion causing pain and heavy periods. It is an excellent remedy for irregular periods and infertility.
It has an uplifting effect on the nervous system and can relieve insomnia, depression and fatigue.
Rose Buds are picked when they were young and then dried. The tea has a natural rosy taste and distinct calming aroma, making it a very enjoyable beverage.
Use about 2 teaspoons of rosebuds for every 500ml of water. Steep with hot water at 90°c to 95°c for 2 to 4 minutes for the first and second brewing. Increase temperature and time for further brews. It’s recommended to brew loose rose tea for three times only.
In my opinion, these rosebuds look soooo lovingly but i just don’t like he taste. For me, it is like drinking the perfume. I tried with very small amounts as a bud on a cup of tea but it is still to intense for me. I have to mix it with other teas/herbs. For example, when i make cold hibiscus or hot mint tea i put a few buds in the pot.
Rosebud tea experience
Few days ago i finally tried plain rosebud tea. I must say that its just “not my cup of tea”. Plain rosebud tea is clear infusion with very very VERY strong rose scent and taste. Anyway i don’t like sweet perfumes and rose scent and this is way too much for me. It was like drinking a liquid soap or air freshener. And i am sure i didn’t put much because i also tried it more diluted.
I am aware of all rosebud tea benefits but i am sure that i wont drink plain rosebud tea anymore. I guess i’ll have to mix it with some stronger tea that will be the base of mixture for example black tea or green.
I believe that there are people who like or will like this kind of tea and i encourage you to try (if you haven’t) and make your own impression and decision.
Please share your tea experiences with me :)
Cheers,
K.
