Okay! Only a third of what I've written this year ended up posted out there to be read. There's a lot of stuff in that gap. Many ideas just don't pan out in a way that I like, or I often lose interest after I'm a few thousand words into something. Some of the written+unposted stuff is my portion of writing I've done between myself and a partner, or something I wrote that ended up feeling very personalized to/for someone and ultimately shared only with that person (occasionally as anonymous inbox asks, who can say).

Still, I've written nearly 100k words so far this year. Neat!

Mostly for my own edification:

At the end of 2025, I cut off the long tail of "in-progress" drafts that I was hanging on to and started tracking things a little to see when I was truly getting stuck vs. writing a decent amount. The original eagerness that comes with a new idea can be fleeting and it's equally difficult to scrap an idea that I'm not progressing on. If I don't actually add to a draft for two months, I now shift any progress into a continuously-appended yearly ideas/brainstorming doc to free up the list of what I'm actively drafting. I think that helped me a lot, but that's a vibes-based assessment until I've got more data to decide what's working for me.

It's hard to write longer stuff! Writing for kink in a way that feels authentic to what I'm excited to write and maybe feels like something anyone else would like to read takes a lot of confidence for me and it really means the world when someone tells me they enjoyed (themselves) reading something I wrote. (I do tell myself that) I'm not posting for the external validation, but I think readers may not know how nice of a surprise it is to have someone go out of their way and say "I read this and really liked it!" If you enjoy reading something someone wrote, you'll make their day by telling them :)

Posting the shorts/POV-type snippets on tumblr has helped me reframe some of those cases where my "idea" is really just one hot scene or line or detail and I can flesh that out into something that still feels like my style (and slightly boost my confidence because those get waves of reblogs lol).

Putting out a multi-part story in June was a real highlight, it's been a while since I was so captivated by the premise that I mostly pushed everything aside to see it through and put it out to be read quickly.

I currently have six things I'm "actively" writing: one with a few thousand words written (probably multi-part); two with a few hundred words that I'm in the early stages with (one fandom wg story which is new for me; one dipping into a dynamic/kink within feedism that's new to me); and three that are in the brainstorm/outlining stage.

Why am I going on about all of this? Sometimes I need to validate for myself that I'm pretty decent at writing like this and it's okay for me to nerd out. I've been doing this for a bit, I'm trying to put myself out there in the community a bit more, and if you're someone who is/is thinking about writing for your kink, give it a shot!

I really love writing feedism. I like sharing my writing because there are very kind people out there into the same things I am, and I want them to have (good? hopefully?) things to read that validates what excites them.
