Day 6: The Hungry One

Hate how I did with the lights here, but I LOVED drawing Gunmar!!!!!!! Since I was supposed to show this work to the people at my art school, I had to refrain from the gross details of that scene, of the designs. So he looks like a red baby haha

This also might be the final drawing for now. I’m thinking of pulling up another 5, since I already got them planned. Like a part 2 u know? We’ll see bout that

After banishing Gunmar rather than killing him, Jackie finds herself wracked with guilt over the (in her eyes) failure. While everyone celebrates what they see as the end of the war, she drowns her regret in booze.

Day 4: The Man Of Metal

I really like imagining Jack with overgrown greasy hair, so weird of a texture they still got volume. Not soft nor mobile enough to disturb him in battle. Not that this was intentional , just kind of appeared in my head automatically while reading.

I know the book already has an illustration of the trollmarket but I reallly wanted to picture my own understatement of what they describe. Missed some of the details, yeah, nevertheless this was very fun to draw !

I know the ties to Arthurian legend were an addition for the TV show specifically, but after seeing your adaptation of Dictatious -- if I may -- I'm really curious... How would you handle a version of Merlin for the book? I feel there's a ton of potential there -- oh-ho, believe me, he's not just any old wizard. If you dig into his deeper lore and mythology, in my humble opinion at least, it'd fit in perfectly with the book-Trollhunters mythos.

What do you think? :>

Hmmmmm I’m not sure! I am really unfamiliar with arthurian legend so I wouldn’t even know where to start… I know at the very least that king arthur was portrayed as a warrior who fought off various monsters for medieval britain, so that could definitely fit alongside the lore of trollhunting.

This would be a job for someone who’s a bigger fan of 13th century welsh poetry than I… or someone who’s a bigger fan of the arthurian references in the show. Maybe I would read Annales Cambriae if merlin was teal and had eight red eyes and an uncountable number of tentacles

Day 2: In the parking lot

Absolutely love how intimidating Steve is in the book!!!!!! I was SWEATING reading this scene fr they got me worried .

#trollhunters book #the way you drew the background in this one reminds me of the background concept art for the show... something about the texture and colors #VERY GOOD composition #also the vast emptiness of the parking lot is a nice touch. really portrays the fact that they're limited in spots to hide #there's a sense of hopeless isolation to it... GOOD WORK!#I also notice all the big medium small in the background there 🤣 both with the way the clusters of trees are laid out as well as the #trees themselves... we ALL love big medium small forever!
