the iconic summer fight was unknown for so long, who would’ve thought ardy knew why
omg i’ve had this written for so long, i was waiting for the right time to drop the lore that this is the reason behind the fight in universe LOL it kinda contradicts what ive written before what whatever it’s clearing draft season and this writing was the start of ardy’s canonical anxiety that’s how old this is 💀
it was a warm day, summer was just around the corner as was NCT Dream’s next comeback and after their first win—they were stressed.
Ardy relaxed into the bed, reading her book peacefully. Haechan rested in her stomach, simply hugging her waist. He just laid down and listened to her calm breath—she was reading a romance novel, from what she told him, it was about some rebellious teenagers falling in love.
“Ardy-ah,” he whined into her stomach.
“Yes?” She asked lowering her book to peak at him.
He said some words that she couldn’t make out because they were muffled against her. She brush his hair with her hand and pulled him up slightly. “What’d you say?”
“I’ve never kissed anybody before,” he said.
Ardy blinked back at him in surprised, “I don’t think any of us have.”
He pouted and hugged her closer, “But I’m a teenager and I want to experience teenager things—I don’t want to do that when I’m old and wrinkly.”
“You know we gave that up the moment we became idols.”
“I know but...” he trailed off his sentence and stopped looking at her.
“But...?” She copies his tone and went back to her book when he still didn’t say anything.
Ardy didn’t glance up from her book. “Sure, you can find someone who can keep their mouth shut about it and then tell me how it went,” she teased.
Hyuck’s fingers tilted her book down and looked Ardy in the eyes. “Found someone.”
Ardy marked her page and set it down.
“No, no, no, you know we can’t,” Ardy protested, “We’ll get in so much trouble if anyone finds out.”
Hyuck wiggled his eyebrows, “Who says they have to find out.”
“Hyuck,” she said seriously.
They both sat up to continue their conversation. He reached over and grasped her hand, “Come on, we’ve talked about wishing we could experience normal life—there’s no harm in it and we trust each other.”
“It can be quick and innocent, I just want the experience but if you really don’t want to you don’t have to Ardy-ah, but I know—“
Ardy grabbed his hand to stop him. “I’ll do it, it’s stupid and dangerous but we’re teenagers—it’s what they do.”
They were suddenly nervous.
He reach other to cup around his neck gently, “Okay.”
They leaned forward and pecked. Exactly, what he said—quick and innocent. Ardy moved her hands to his face and brought him into another peck. And then they went for a little longer and then harder and then more heated.
Hyuck pushed foward more and Ardy fell back into the bed, she wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him closer while he moved his hands to her waist. He teased with his tongue but she gladly teased back.
They got lost in the moment as it became more intense than they intended—they let themself get lost in the feeling, it felt nice because it was different from their constant state of stress.
Hyuck and Ardy jumped around quick and looked at the door in shock.
Red rose on Mark’s face quickly—he pointed at Ardy harsh, “Out.”
Her heart dropped to hell.
“Mark oppa, we can explain—“ Ardy tried to reason as Hyuck was still frozen in shock.
“You both will explain separately, I need to talk with Donghyuck about something first so get out,” Mark said his tone harsher than they’ve ever heard it.
The tension of the situation was making Ardy nervous, her heart was beating faster than humanly possible and her hands were beginning to shake.
She wobbled her way to the door, she glanced at Hyuck who’s head was held down in shame under Mark’s scrutinizing glare. When she was out enough the door slammed right behind her—loudly.
Her chest began to squeeze and tighten, her hands made there way to hover over her heart. She tried to walked farther but her body was going into fight or flight mode. She crouched down in hopes to calm her nerves but she couldn’t—behind the door was muffled yells of Mark and Hyuck. Her body inclined on itself and she curled into a ball next to the wall. She felt like she could barely breath while her thoughts ran wild.
The rest of the boys came running to the halls to find Ardy locked outside of a room where Mark and Hyuck were having the biggest argument they’ve had yet.
Rejun was first to notice sometime wasn’t right with Ardy. He crouched down to look at her and he noticed her whole body was shaking.
“Jeno, can you move her?” He asked quickly.
Jeno nodded and tried to help her up but incoherent whines just leave her.
Remain motioned to Jisung and Chenle, “Clear the couch and get her some water.” They boys automatically left, trying to be as helpful as possible.
“Ardy-ah, lets go to the couch,” Jeno said quietly to her.
She nodded and stood up but hunched over and breathed deeply and quickly. Her walk was slow and shaky but Jeno supported her to the couch, feeling her completely trembling.
They settled her in the corner and she curled into herself and covered her ears and breathed. She could still hear Mark and Hyuck’s arguing from a different room and sent her into more panic.
Renjun held the water Jisung retrieved him and handed it to her to drink, the water almost split out from her shaking. “Ardy-ah,” Renjun started quietly, he could see her eyes clench, “what happened?”
she shoved the water back to him and covered her ears and roughly shook her head. He placed his hands on her to pull her hands away slowly but she jumped to push on her ears harshly when Hyuck’s yelled loudly at Mark.
Renjun shot up and stomped into the hallway. Chenle took Renjun’s spot next to Ardy—he took a blanket from the couch and wrapped it around to to burrito her, he remembered her mentioned it helped with her anxiety.
Renjun knocked on the door and a disheveled angry looking Hyuck slammed the door open to an equally angry Renjun. “Come back later.”
Before Hyuck could slam the door on his face, he stopped it and pointed and both boys.
“You two are taking this outside, take it to the 127 dorm for all I care—but you are getting out of this dorm for this argument,” Renjun said.
Renjun cut Mark off, “You arguing is spiking Ardy’s anxiety, so take it else where, I don’t even care what it’s about just go until you’re both cooled down.
The two boys begrudgingly listened to Renjun and went to leave the door, both taking a sad glance at Ardy. All the other boys tried best to get the girl to calm down.
The 2017 Markhyuck fight remains unknown to everybody, all expect Ardy.
