“Nope, nope, I’m done. Leave me here. I’m done with your shenanigans,” they took a seat in the snow, using two hands to shovel it over their legs.

He could weave his feelings into the scarves he knit and the person who wore that piece of clothing would experience them.

“Look, if I say I can’t do it, I want you to understand I don’t mean that I actually can’t. I mean that I’m unable to force myself.”

He watched his knight with fondness. From the gruff attempts at modesty when confronted with praise, to the quiet fondness on his face when he gently brushed his horse. The more he saw, the more he fell.

3) They only dared show their affection through letters. Kept tucked away, pored over and memorized with caught breath and wide-eyes before the fire. It seemed strange that anything so cool as ink and paper could run the blood so hot - and yet there it was. Each word, intimate and scandalous beyond what anyone would ever dare say to her before, felt branded upon her soul. 

She examined the trinket the human brought for her, webbed hands turning the jar in her hands. She pulled at the lid, testing it, and was pleasantly surprised when it popped right off. When the human motioned for her to lift it to her face, she frowned, but did as she was told, getting a whiff of pure lemon. Startled, she flung the ‘candle’ at the human’s feet, backing into the water with a pout when they laughed at her.

Their scales reflected their emotions, the very idea of ‘heart on their sleeve’. They hated it.

“Surely there are better things to do with my skills,” he suggested, typing away at his keyboard, disappointment thick in the air. His companion scoffed, leaning against his chair, slowly inching him away from the desk by accident.

“I wish I could lovingly craft the words together to describe how angry you make me,” they sighed, staring at a single person in a crowd of many others.

“Of course - I see what they do at their darkest and why.”

“Hey, don’t touch anything. I don’t know how stable it all is.”

They pulled at the long strands of their bangs, mouth twisting downwards as they stared at the length. Tempted as they were to simply cut it off and be done with it getting in their eyes, they knew they’d probably mess it up.

“Nothing I love more than a little bit of peace and quiet.”
