Semi-Permanent Hiatus
The last drawing I uploaded, Iāve been struggling with it for months. I had the idea for it when I was taking my break off Tumblr, and have constantly struggled to work on it, finding motivation and energy. Tonight I finished itā¦ because I thought it would be somewhat appropriate last drawing, and because many of you have cheered me on as I struggled with it, so I wanted to show you guys the finished drawing.
As some of you might know, Iāve been struggling with anxiety, specifically towards the Dragon Age fandom on Tumblr. Iāve tried to power through it all for the sake of the people that have sent me support and love, but I realized that Iām not going to get better if I keep engaging with people here.
Iāve given it a lot of thought in the last few daysā¦ and I tried to find reasons to keep going, and they were plenty. Iāve met really lovely people here, made some great friends and relationships that I hope will last. But as it happens sometimes in life, negativity, no matter how small it might be, rings louder for me above everything else right now.Ā
Iām really sorry to those of you that might be discouraged to see me leave Tumblr. Iāve always tried my best to make my interaction with people here a happy, positive one and I loved making content that made people happy. But I hadnāt felt that in a while now, and I think itās best for me and best for everyone else that I stop being here. At least with this, I hope, that none of my friends will be getting backlash.
I do plan on returning, but I donāt know when it will be, or if I will return at all. I might be back in months, or I wonāt ever come back. Regardless of that, I wanted to tell you all that Iāve had such a blast in this fandom and to thank you for supporting me and my art until now.
Iāll still be around on the Discord servers Iām in now, and Iāll still be on Twitter (@drawsshits) though Twitter will mostly be Korean. I wonāt be deactivating this blog in case I do come back, but Iāll be switching urls to drawsshits-inactive.
I forgot to add, Iāll be taking down the Date a Day download link. But if you have the file, youāre free to share with whoever.

honestly the Chantry recruiting templars from their orphanages, WHERE THEY PUT THE CHILDREN THEY TAKE FROM MAGES, is so fucked up

I mean, thereās really only two options here: either they tell them āyour parents are monsters and we took you away from them because youāre a monster too and monsters donāt deserve parents,ā or they lie through their teeth and tell them āyour parents didnāt want youā or, perhaps more kindly, āyour parents are deadā
Of the these options Iām inclined to believe āyour parents didnāt want youā is the most oft-repeated, since of the two cases weāve seen of women giving birth in the Circle and being forced to give up the child (Wynne and Fiona,) both came with a hefty dose of victim-blaming towards the mother. In both cases the mother is made to feel guilty for āchoosingā to give up the child even though there was no choice whatsoever.
Would the kids of mages ever find out?
The Templars could eventually see babies being taken from mages. And they have to ask permission to get married. Mages blooded ones could get told no.
Would mage born templars be warned they stand a greater risk for having mage kids?
If the chantry wants to cut down on the number of mages then they want to stop mage blooded people from ābreedingā like they do for mages right??
That is the beauty of taking mage orphans as Templar recruits: it keeps them under the Chantryās eye. They stay in the same prison, albeit on the other side of the bars. The Chantry will be able to keep close track of them and if they or any of their family ever shows signs of mage talent, they can be put right back in the Circle immediately.
Also, itās possible that mage-blooded Templars are actually more effective at Templar skills. Alistair doesnāt even need lyrium to use them. Meredith (whose sister was a mage) gets final boss powers simply from proximity exposure to red lyrium. So thatās likely another reason why the Chantry would recruit Templars that way. Lyrium is expensive, and you donāt need as much for the not-quite-a-mage recruits and theyāre easier to train.
now, thatās an interesting theory
I wish there was a side quest or war table mission or even a full plot twist where the inquisitor would find the records of all these families who were essentially bred out of existence (because the key to this level of surveillance would be impeccable records) and have the choice to publish these records for the rebel mages to find their parents, their children, their siblings either within their own sides or out in the world or even on the other side. Templars would know why they were denied permission to marry. Both sides would have to reconcile this new layer to their identity: āMy son is a templar in Kirkwall.ā āI have siblings in the Montsimmard Circle.ā
And when both sides have grieved and raged and reconnected they would look at the Chantry who did this to themāwho pitted them against each other for no easily defensible reasonāand burn it down.
I had a theory that Leliana as Divine does this.
