How is it possible to get out of this injury cycle? They all trigger each other like dominoes.Have there been any injury prone player in the past years who managed to get out of this situation?I need a hope to hold on to cause looks like it’s always going to be on and off for him
There’s been a lot of players who have come back from a major injury and ranking drop, famously Agassi.
But those who seem injury prone often seem to stay that way, but have good spells.
Pegula, Nishikori, Boulter to be fair you can chuck Murray in that list because even before the hip was a thing with him he’d struggled with his back.
Right now the main thing in Jack’s favour is that nothing has required surgery because as soon as that happens things change massively.
Bonus thought on Jack.
If he’s allowed a certain number of direct entries into atp 500s based on his end of year ranking, and if it’s borderline on the comeback and 1 week won’t make much difference, it could be that he’s saving a use of his 500 direct entry for later on in the year when he’s stronger, rather than using it up on a tournament where he doesn’t feel he’ll be 100%.
I don't even know what to think about all of this I feel like my brain is becoming numb to the news of him withdrawing from something it's like a never ending cycle of wow he's back next month (or week)?? and no he's not back
Don't even want to imagine how he feels mentally during all this time off if we as fans are this distraught about it
You’re right, it’s got to be tough for him to be preparing for a return and then not get the go ahead or have someone’s opinion lean you back to realistic caution.
Even worse when all your friends are off around the UK playing tournaments and you’re then left at an empty NTC doing training and rehab.
Will never forget Evo sacrificing his ranking to send off a legend in style. That Olympic run was so so epic!!
From Queens in the blazing sun to Nottingham when you laughed at me for taking a full set to eat a packet of mini cheddars just so I didn’t have to wear my mask in Covid times, despite having no one else sat near me and being outside, you were always entertaining and brought something different to the tennis court.
Happy retirement Evo!

Honestly, I'd just like some clarity and better communication from him. I know it's probably asking too much, and ultimately, he's not obligated to give or tell us anything, but we're dealing with yet another injury whose extent and actual recovery time are unknown. When I saw he was still training, I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking we were close to having him back on the court, but in the end, even when he was returning from his arm injury, videos and photos of him training were released, but we had to wait a bit longer for his actual return. Could it be that his arm is bothering him again? I really don't know what to think. Sometimes I think we won't see him on the court at all this year, but then, I don't understand the point of hiring Andy as a coach for the grass season, especially if they knew it would be difficult to return for that period. Ultimately, he can take all the time he wants, as long as he gets healthy and can then stay on the tour, I don't want anything else for him, but groping in the dark and always having to make assumptions is a bit frustrating.
I miss him so much 💔🥲
Totally agree!
It’s frustrating and disappointing but he always has a right to privacy and as rubbish as it is for us we have to respect it and do the best with what little info we have.
I have a feeling there's something going on that we have no idea about.Delgado's sudden leave, Andy thing, then withdrawing from the tournament, I don't understand any of it, maybe I'm just getting paranoid
I think the Delgy decision makes more sense when you put it in the injury context. He would have been paying an expensive coach for doing very little because there’s nothing he could do. It was probably a 6 month period with a review and when he’s had no chance to make any real progress in the coaching side of things because of the injuries it’s probably just as financial as anything else. Why pay out lots for very little when you can get the same support from the cheaper LTA staff?
If he can get back to being fully fit, I think plenty of coaches would want to work with Jack so I don’t worry about him having future offers.
It does feel like the Andy partnership is potentially being cut short. But if he did play Queens he wouldn’t have played Eastbourne so it’s a bit of a wait and see situation still.
Withdrawing and still not being ready is the most concerning part. We’ve never had any details on how bad the knee injury was! Maybe if we had from the start we’d be more understanding. We knew the arm was bad and we were in for a long time out and a slow return to play. The knee? Fuck knows!!
I’m confused by the location of this photo. Edited in the grass court or taken on a random grass court earlier in the year? It’s IW kit…
Draper Nation this is your 1 week warning for Draperball returning.
We are almost through another trench. Hang in there!!
I fucking jinxed him again.
I try to be positive in my replies to everyone who is rightfully worried about him, but I promise you I’m just as sad about each withdrawal. It’s really not fair. He doesn’t deserve this.
The goat Serena is back playing on grass at my fav venue and they keep playing Bastille at the sit downs. This is drastically making up for Jack’s latest withdrawal.

Someone on X assumed that this injury might be horrendous too, but I don’t know if that’s the case. We saw him training on grass (even if just once, which makes me think he won’t be ready at all, and when he was practicing Andy wasn’t with him), but he was training a lot more indoor (maybe due to the weather), so that made me think that we will see him back on hard court. However, I’m very confused and worried…
Well we know he’s played with it since DC so it’s clearly something minor which turned into something major. We also know it’s a tendon issue and they can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 12+ to fully heal. We’re at 8 from Barcelona and if you’re putting it to the latter end of the scale then he is within range of returning, it being healed and in theory it should be feeling about there.
So 1 extra week really could be ok!
I think the lack of training photos will be a combo of weather and the LTA giving privacy. It seems like all the photos we have of all the Brits were taken on the same day so it was clearly booked in as a media day. With the weather we’ve had he will have been training inside, and perhaps they want to be able to work on and test out his movement on grass before going into full match play. They can do more of that this week and definitely next week as the weather is set to improve a lot.
I would hold fire on presuming him to skip Wimbledon for now.
As much as I want to see Jack back on court, I do wonder if it would be a good idea for him to wait until he has a PR. He was still in the top 30 last time he played so depending on where he plays he could avoid qualifying or needing a WC for his first few tournaments plus the extra time off could be beneficial for him, either by resting his injuries or giving him more time to get ready for a comeback. Though tbh I'm not too well versed on the PR rules so maybe none of that would work.
I'm not fully clued up on the PR system either, but I thought it was 6 months from the last time he played which was Barcelona so it would take him to like mid Oct...
I'd honestly rather have him work up from the challengers because if he can get fully fit he'd be back in no time at all, and ngl it would be kinda fun to watch.
JUST GET HIM HEALTHY, SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE!
If he is fit for Eastbourne will he have to play the qualies?
No chance, they'd wildcard him in an instant.
If he was going through all of this anywhere else but the UK it would possibly be a different story - sponsors depending.
I mean maybe and I hope so but not sure how one week extra training supposed to help with that sadly sounds more like a injury related decision to me and makes me worried about future events
It sounds like his body is just really fucking slow to heal.
But hopefully it is a borderline decision and Eastbourne will be a more gentle reintroduction in terms of opponents and therefore give him more match confidence.
Give him back to me

Jack has withdrawn from Queens, aiming to return in Eastbourne, but at this point I think he will skip the grass completely, I don’t know how he can find some confidence for Wimbledon in just a week’s time…I’m so sad for him, I was sensing something was off due to his radio silence…When will this end for him and for us, I’m feeling like a broken record😭
He’s said he wants an extra week. We can give him an extra week. If in a weeks time there’s still been no progress then we panic, ok? 😂😅😩🙃
He withdraw from Queens
Damn I’d missed that - too busy watching the women!
That’s a real shame. I wonder if it’s the weather that’s held him back as he’s not been able to practice outside much?
