Even if the bone bruising heals (and I think that process will take quite some time), what really worries me is : even before this injury, he was constantly dealing with various other injuries—in fact, he even pulls out from the 2025 Australian Open knows as his best season. He never really established himself as a player who performs consistently week in and week out—except little period between 4 months around February and May 2025 and then the biggest injury comes, he even got extra knee injury this year after like 6 match play?
I’m not one of those people who takes an overly dramatic view and thinks his career is over, but a player of this profile doesn't suddenly do a complete 180-degree turnaround after 25 is he?
I have absolute faith that he will return, but I don't think he'll be one of the player who play a full season.
I think a lot of that stems from his very late growth spurt and his body having to adapt to that along with his career at the same time. There was always going to be an adjustment period needed.
The problem is it can leave weaknesses in some areas. When he’s had injuries across ankles, knees, hips, abs, shoulders and arms it’s pretty much guaranteed to leave something flaring up at some point.
But in the same breath give me a list of players who are currently completely healthy and have no niggles at all? I’m not sure there are any!!
I do believe he can have a full year on tour though. He deserves it!
