Among the trio of Saiyans that the protectors found themselves opposing, Pholomena seemed like the worst one to have to face, with what Tazz surmised; taking into consideration that their first meeting ended with Hakkona leaving no trace of the Saiyaness where the battle had taken place. Even so, as long as even a bit of DNA was remaining elsewhere, one could guess that Pholomena would regenerate from even that! The Luparian's determination was admirable to Pholomena, even if she was growing more irate with the Wolfish Woman with each second.

Tazz's quick thinking would manage to draw a verbal exclamation of surprise from the Saiyaness, when she prevented herself from getting impaled, and an almost entertained, excited expression would subtly find its way back onto the face of the green-haired woman... At least until the Luparian managed to cause Pholomena to lose her balance when she was yanked, and fall chest-first onto the katana! A brief lack of movement from the seemingly Immortal Fighter would thereafter be interrupted by Pho getting back to her feet with the blade still buried deep within her chest. If Tazz kept her grip on the sword given to her by Blaid, Pholomena would choose to stay where she stood, and glare into Tazz's single eye; that eerily giddy smile starting to creep back onto her features, as if this new predicament amused her!

Perhaps she had gotten it easy with Ghost being her opponent in their previous battle and the start of this one. Her abilities were better suited to match his, whereas with Pholomena.. She was struggling to get any sort of advantage. She feared to think about how she would fare against the trio's driving member, though. His decay would be devastating against her since she didn't have the ability to become intangible that her red-headed companion had.

She hadn't quite expected her reversal of the regenerating Saiyaness' plan to actually work, but she had no time to marvel about it. Sweat carved streaks through the grime and blood that dusted her skin as she panted, shifting to move upward with Pholomena once the other woman started standing. She retained her grip on the blade, not only since she promised to return it but to make sure she wouldn't lose her only weapon that gave her an edge of any sort. That grin would never fail to send a shiver down Tazz's spine.. With a glare, she quickly drew the sword back before stepping forward and swiping it at the other again, not wanting to give her the chance to ready another attack.

Sitting up, the old mech is quickly wiping away at any tears that may dare spill from his optics, squinting them shut before using his calloused palms to deal with any stragglers.

Rodimus' touch was comforting, a gentle gesture he'd proffered to the younger mech on previous occasions. Yet he felt... undeserving. He was angry at himself for being seen in such a state. Battle hardened veterans don't cry. They drink themselves into stupors to mask the pain.

Reaching for the arm of the servo that grazes his plating, he gives it a soft pat before shifting his focus onto the engex.

"Ah 'ppreciate it. But ya came fer a good time, and Ah ain't gonna subject ya to a blubberin' ol' fool. Why dontcha pour us a drink, yeah?"

He pulls back just enough to watch Kup as he continues rubbing his back, his brow ridges pinched upward. His free servo then reaches to swipe away one last tear with his thumb before he brushes his knuckles against the old jalopy's jaw.

He was quiet for a moment even after the older mech requested a drink, watching him a bit longer before he stands. "Y'know, it's okay to need a good cry and lean on someone. You taught me that."

Before he does anything else, Rodimus leans in to give the veteran a small kiss on the forehelm, letting his dermas linger for a second or two longer than necessary before he's shifting to reach for the bottle. His other servo slips into his subspace to dig around before pulling out a couple of rocks glasses.

He sets them down then fills them with the liquid vice before holding one towards Kup with a half-smile.

Servos clutched onto the bot's lance. A last effort to stop it, stop the pain, the piercing feeling of it sinking into his shoulder plate. No, it's too late, too late to stop it. It's inside him, invading him. Too weak, he'd been too weak, he lost. Fleta Z lost. He's going to die-- No, no, he won't die. He refused. No impalement won't stop him, accident or purposeful. He fights, oh, he fights, and he screamed through it all. It burned, it ached, it hurt. Made him want to give up, but no, he had a battle to continue, to settle, to win. He won't let the bigger bird win over a hunter. A hunter's supposed to fell the bird, but oh, this prey's strong, digging in, deeply, but Fleta Z refused to lose, so he took it in, the wild, the power, the pain, until he's reborn as the bird he's meant to be before the Griffon.

Did he mean to actually pierce Fleta Z with his lance? Perhaps. Did he mean to actually infect him? ..... He wasn't sure, much to his shock. Part of him didn't think it truly possible with how the other mech always managed to skirt around being impaled by the sharp weapon, so he had been rather shocked when it happened. Maybe some part of him deep inside had wanted to avoid infecting the other flier out of some urge to keep from losing such a stimulating opponent. He was well aware of what would happen should the virus progress too much in Metal Cardbots, after all.

He stepped back as he watched, his tanks churning in an odd way as he watched the other transform as the virus burned through his systems and changed him. Those screams.. He would hear them echoing in his head for a long time, that he was sure of. But he had a façade to keep. He gave a curious hum as Fleta overcame the initial infection, his free servo reaching to caress along the tip of his lance where it was still glowing purple.

"I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not that you didn't keel over. I suppose I wouldn't expect anything less from my favored opponent."

The image took up the entire screen of the pad. An image of a company - comprised of 3 platoons, 4 squads. All young, vibrant, full of life. Smack in the middle? A younger version of the Gunny.

Over time, each jovial face had a red X scratched across - a grim indication of their demise.

A teal digit made one final scarlet X, leaving only his own face behind unmarred.

He didn't mean to... but he sobbed. It wasn't quiet, it wasn't stifled. It was a sad admission that nothing lasts forever. And it wasn't fair. Why, of all bots, was he left behind??

He'd thought himself alone, folding his arms atop the table to lay his helm down to cry. He wasn't expecting company, least of all the fiery Prime.

"Damn it kid, ya ain't s'ppose ta see me like this."

He had come to share a drink and some laughs with the Gunny, but the sound of a sob had him pausing. It wasn’t often that Kup ever let himself be seen in such a state, but.. Rodimus wanted to comfort him like he had done for the speedster for so long.

Coming closer, he sets the bottle of engex on the desk before placing a servo on the old mech’s back, gently rubbing as he leans against the back of the desk.

“Hey, s’only fair since you’ve seen me feelin’ low who knows how many times.”

Shifting away from the desk, he gets to his knees and loops his arms around Kup, giving a small squeeze before going back to rubbing his back while resting his helm against him.

He could relate all too well about being the last one standing.
