alright now that I'm finally home and settled I've made a list of stuff from the TGWDLM reprise that I liked. I have endless love in my heart for this show so it is very long <3 so without further ado I give you;

you've activated a sleeper agent in me anon
always, always together and constantly touching. the ONLY times they're separated are when Pokey has them putting on a show in roles that require them to be apart for a bit. the only times they're not touching are if they're attacking/assimilating someone, or if they're in a musical number and choreography requires they break contact. those are the only exceptions. otherwise, always touching. holding hands, little touches on the shoulders or back, arms around each other, holding each other, kissing.
their kisses are nasty and slimy and sticky. when they kiss its like they're trying to infect each other MORE. Paul especially likes to kiss Emma's neck and arms and hands, leaving slimy blue stains.
Pokey always intended for Paul to be the Leading Man, and Emma was only meant to be the Love Interest long enough to appease Paul and re-tell his story. then she would've been pulled back into the ensemble to just fill in whatever role she was needed for. just another hive drone. Paul's affection for her was just too strong though, he wanted Emma to be with him. it kind of infected Pokey and made him want Emma in a bigger role. and Emma died wanting Paul back so her want was incredibly infectious too. Emma got bumped up to Permanent Leading Lady kind of by accident. I really enjoy the infection amplifying their mutual crush/infatuation SO intensely - in a way that was intended to mock them and the life they didn't get - that their obsession with each other bleeds into Pokey himself. they're his dolls either way but it was meant to be hollow, he wasn't meant to actually be FOND of them together. I think it's fun if he kinda can't help it.
dancing in pairs isn't really something the other infected do, they tend to just do group numbers. Paul and Emma are the only ones who dance just the two of them. it's a form of communication for them and the rest of the hive sees it as, like, unusually intimate.
they sing the SAPPIEST love duets and call each other the most sickeningly sweet pet names, stuff that would make human!paulkins gag. I've always been partial to infected!Emma calling Paul "Stardust", and infected!Paul calling Emma "Dove" or "Songbird".
when they go after humans to assimilate them Emma is the violent one and Paul is the happy smiley one. Paul does the luring and Emma does the killing.
Emma experiences apotheosis like constant calm contentment and satisfaction. she's always happy, but it's slightly muted, like a really nice high. Paul experiences it like mania, more intense.
their voices form a natural harmony, it sounds slightly incomplete when either of them sing alone.

I knew Nolan's film would be a steaming pile of trash ever since it got announced, but that he would disrespect not only Greek culture, but also the long line of translators delivering that culture to modern audience in his own native tongue so that even he can understand - how ignorant can one person be.

ohhh my god I just fact-checked, Nolan actually DID cut the "Nobody" scene from his Odyssey movie. Mfer that is like cutting the Father reveal from Star Wars. Let me speak in a language you understand this is like not dressing Batman up in his suit. "It was not possible to work it in" the TikTok musical with a budget of $4 and a scratched Hamilton CD managed to work it in in SONG form, step up your FUCKING GAME

The “nobody” scene in the odyssey is absolutely not just a clever pun—it’s a character defining moment for Odysseus because he refuses to be nobody. He devised an incredible plan that worked and he could have saved his men and returned home much sooner but he just had to yell to the cyclops that he isn’t nobody—he’s Odysseus, king of Ithaca so now Poseidon knows who to curse which severely fucks up the rest of the journey.
The “nobody” scene highlights both Odysseus’s cleverness but also his arrogance and those two traits define Odysseus throughout the entire story. It’s a foundational aspect of Odysseus’s character and cutting the scene displays a shocking level of ignorance and disregard for the themes in the source material.
In light of the Odyssey movie coming out this is my formal PSA that Helen of Troy is actually Helen of Sparta, Troy is the city she was stolen and brought to. The entire Trojan war is the Greeks trying to get her back from Troy, because she is from Sparta. I feel like we all collectively forget this.

and I made this within 5 minutes of returning. so I think that sums up my thoughts on it. (though im willing to rant more if ppl want it. cause I have COMPLAINTS)

I think people forget that Stratt amnesticized Grace with the goal that Ilyukina and Yao would be there to help him, y’know NOT DIE, and then THEY DIED before he woke up.
So like she gets the recordings and realizes Yao and Ilyukina are dead before he wakes up so he’s got no pilot, no engineer, and no memories.
And then you also have to remember that the EXISTENCE of these recordings and the fact they were accompanied by the Taumoeba means that an amnesticized Grace somehow managed to save earth without a pilot or engineer and shoddy memory that only vaguely gives him enough to work with as he works.
Like what the fuck man.
