It’s open until 1st March 2018, it’s open to people in any country, and last year we got about 10,000 participants - you can see the results here.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a blog post summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

2018 is upon us! That means it’s time for another annual survey, which I am (as always) pretty excited about!

This year we have some costs to cover again. Not as much as last year, thankfully:

Survey service (SmartSurvey): £100 for two months.

Mailserver: £36 for one year

Domain name: £0.88 for the first year

Crowdfunding fees: £10.95

TOTAL: £147.83

These changes mean I can set up a reliable mailing list system for those who need it - currently I’m looking at a mailing list of over 500 people and worrying about how I’m gonna get those emails through everyone’s spam filters. (TL;DR: I can’t, without a proper domain name and mailserver and Mailchimp.)

And then there’s the usual two months of a survey service that can handle all 10,000 of you plus some pretty complicated question set-up.

So, can you help? Every little bit gives us some really helpful and informative data that can be used in business and in academia to make sure that we are represented in the way that we want, and is free for anyone to use.
