For example this line in chapter 2:

一个人蹲在仙京大街边头痛了半天…

translation (by me): “He squatted by the broad street of the Heavenly Capital alone and stressed over it for a long while…”

I doubt you can find another heavenly official squatting because it’d be considered uncouth and undignified for gods and royalty, yet Xie Lian is apparently used to it because he did it out of habit. The people used to squatting would belong to the working class - you wouldn’t have chairs to sit on when you’re having a break during work, and you don’t want to soil your clothes by sitting on the ground either, so squatting is the next best thing to sitting.

Another example is from chapter 8:

越思量越觉奇怪，谢怜把若邪绫往肩上一甩，心想…

from the official translation: “The more he pondered, the stranger this was. But then Xie Lian tossed Ruoye over his shoulder and thought…”
