         —  𝐀  𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍  .  𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃  𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐄𝐃  .  Light  !  a  bloody  dragon  !  L  I  G  H  T  !  wide  -  eyed  ,  rand  stared  at  the  creature  —  THE  BEAST  ,  really  —  feeling  as  though  his  own  eyes  might  pop  out  of  his  head  .  blood  and  bloody  ashes  .  his  lips  curled  into  something  halfway  crossed  between  a  SNEER  and  a  GRIN  .  beneath  his  breath  ,  rand  laughed  .  bloody  ashes  !  ah  ,  you  nevermind  it  at  all  ,  it's  only  a  dragon  .  burn  me  ,  but  surely  he  must  be  joking  .  sparing  a  glance  at  hiccup  ,  rand  knew  it  was  not  so  .  another  ragged  laugh  escaped  his  lips  then  ,  shaking  rand's  shoulders  .  burn  me  !  rand  scrubbed  his  hand  through  his  hair  and  sat  up  straighter  .

        ❝  Light  ,  no  .  not  even  the  seanchan  would  name  their  beasts  after  the  Dragon  .  ❞  rand  winced  as  the  words  left  him  and  clamped  his  mouth  FIRMLY  SHUT  .  there  had  only  ever  been  one  Dragon  in  the  world  .  ONE  ,  and  he  had  been  a  man  .  that  was  ,  save  for  the  the  symbol  of  his  banner  .  a  long  ,  serpentine  figure  ,  scaled  in  scarlet  and  gold  .  nothing  like  this  .  .  .  light  -  fury  dragon  .           lips  pressed  into  a  thin  line  ,  rand's  brow  furrowed  .  he  had  often  wondered  where  the  name  Dragon  had  come  from  ,  and  no  texts  survived  the  Breaking  ever  explained  its  origin  .  even  if  something  had  ,  it  would  not  have  been  saved  ,  of  that  he  was  certain  .  beyond  that  :  everyone  knew  the  Dragon  was  a  man  ,  and  he  would  be  born  a  man  again  .  The  Dragon  Reborn  .  cleaving  his  gaze  from  the  backs  of  his  hands  ,  where  the  heron  brands  seared  into  his  palms  suddenly  seemed  to  burn  ,  rand  studied  the  creature  -  toothless  -  warily  .

             a  man  who  can  Channel  is  no  better  than  a  beast  .  rand's  lips  quirked  into  a  wry  smile  again  .  this  time  ,  rand  managed  to  stifle  the  laugh  that  bubbled  in  his  throat  .  a  fitting  name  for  the  worst  of  all  beasts  .             hiccup  didn't  treat  toothless  as  a  beast  ,  though  .  he  called  him  friend  .  that  was  surely  mystery  and  wonder  enough  to  give  pause  .  ❝  i've  no  intention  to  hurt   .  .  .  him  .  .  .  if  that  at  all  eases  his  — both  of  your  minds  ,  ❞  rand  spoke  quietly  ,  raising  his  hands  in  gesture  ,  book  left  balanced  on  his  knee  .  squashing  down  the  uneasy  lurching  of  his  stomach  ,  rand  cast  a  fixed  gaze  towards  toothless  .  he  would  not  be  cowed  by  him  either  .  ❝  but  i  understand  if  it  doesn't  .  we  each  of  us  got  caught  by  surprise  .  ❞  wetting  his  lips  ,  he  tried  to  redirect  the  subject  .  ❝   were  the  pair  of  you  surveying  the  mountains  ,  too  ?  ❞

"Yes, we are. I'm trying to understand this part of the island." Hiccup politely responds to his question, to understand the premise of the island he feels like he should just check whatever is going on.

The dragon continued to stare warily at him. Now that he lowered his weapons, Toothless can finally relax and a bright smile has settled on his face.

"See, that wasn't so hard isn't it?" Hiccup says, he wasn't sure why the other seems to be wary of his companion where he was minding his own business.

Kairi's been sitting at the same spot for what feels like hours with her small collection of shells, trying to string them together. She's almost got the needle through one of them when a voice startles her.

Having narrowly avoided pricking herself, her eyes follow the voice to its source. She eyes the stranger up, searching for any familiarity or even a hint of ill will, but comes up short on both fronts.

Kairi offers a sheepish grin as she holds up one of the cracked shells. "I'm trying to make a charm. I made one for myself a long time ago, but a friend has it so I wanted to make a new one, but I think I'm a little out of practice."

Her ears perk up at the boy's words. Eight years old and building armor and weapons? He doesn't seem that much older than her. For a moment Kairi wonders if the boy is a soldier, but before she responds with her own questions, the mention of Toothless and Heartless stop her in her tracks.

"Woah!" How she missed the very big and very much a heartless looking creature, she's not sure. "Toothless, that's his name? I like that. " She giggles at the sound of it.

Hiccup nods, he carefully studies the charm: "Seems to be okay: maybe you can add a personal touch to the charm that reminds you of your home." He admits he's a little homesick , no matter the circumstances are but at least he has his dragon with him.

The boy felt sheepish and while introductions are always necessary, he figured it's normal. "My name is Hiccup, it's a pleasure to meet you. I don't remember Sora telling me about you but I do know he taught me how to use this thing- other people says it's for communicating."

"You know who you should meet if you haven't yet? Thor," he grins conspiringly, chuckling a little as he thinks of this idea-- this is an amazing idea. "You have to meet him, he's gonna love you. He's a Viking too. Dragons....uh, not sure if there are any there. The two of you can learn phones and shit."

"I can imagine," Toothless barks into laughter. Hiccup mentally facepalms at his ability to speak. Not now , Toothless. "He's staring hard into the phone for 10 minutes and types "what is a meme" and he's confused about the modern world ever since."

"I'm still trying to wrap my mind that Toothless can speak because of this totem. Do you know anything about this?" Hiccup says, showing the totem that he was given to. "He has a similar sarcastic humor like yours Badou."

Wait, is he really this famous...? To popular belief, he did want to make a difference in the society by making the world see that not all dragons are bad. He feels they're misunderstood.

Hiccup: "Oh ! We have a training academy for dragons, it used to be a school to originally teach kids how to slay them at one point but dad wants to let the vikings know a thing or two about dragon taming. We sorta have a 'dragon problem' in our village lately. You know how other villages have common pests like rats ? It's something similar to that in Berk right now. You can check in with him later."

And it's good that he could understand him! He had to use charades for the acolytes to know who he was! And he's probably lucky that they even understood what he's saying! That's the acolytes though, very good at observation and problem-solving. Even if he felt like he didn't make sense with the charades.

"Ye- NO! I-I'm Sora! I just got into.. the totems! They turned me into a dragon! I only walked up to those things and then poof, I'm a dragon! It's crazy, but I'm glad you can understand me. It's pretty hard to communicate with people, nobody knows what I'm saying!"

Toothless gave the impersonator a knowing yet suspicious look. "You sure you're going through this plan? He'll find out ya know." He said bluntly. The viking looks at Toothless, what on Berk is he talking about ? Is he missing something here? Hiccup, not minding the chaos that was about to unfold clears his throat.

"Yeah, Sora it's fine. The activities around the event is something. Not quite common back home." He admits, he's enjoying this himself. Hiccup looks at Sora then at Toothless.

"Okay, I'll bite. What are you all planning?" Hiccup asks them, not getting the full idea. Toothless pretends to play innocent.

Sora pulls out his phone and raises it eye level to Toothless. The phone has many dings in its aluminum bezel and the screen and the screen protector covering it are cracked to the point where it was difficult to see what was even on the screen.

"Oh! Come here! Or- wait..." Sora took a quick picture with his phone before shoving going to the home menu. Something he was a bit more familiar with thanks to Cucumber.

"You have your own phone, right? Here..."

Sora scooted next to Hiccup. He showed him his own screen. A little blush of embarrassment formed in his cheeks from his barely hanging on to life device, but it was a teaching moment so why not?

"It's easy! swipe up to open your phone to the home screen... Then click on this!" He pointed to the camera application and nodded.

It's that easy? But Hiccup saw how old or cracked it is. He couldn't understand how it works but kids seem to get a knack for learning internet trends & memes again, making him regret what he missed in his childhood.

"So-" Hiccup told Toothless to stay still, finding the same settings that Sora instructed him to do, he was amazed at the perfect still image of Toothless too. The poor dragon was confused in all of this but did it for science at least.

"must be hard..." the words came out in a tone much sadder than keigo had intended as he cast his glance on the dragon. then he returned to the viking. "like i said, i don't actually know much about dragons. ban is a witch familiar though. so if there's any dragons like that, then i guess she might be one of those?"

wait. was he being pulled into cleaning duty now? "eeh, i have to help...?" came the lackluster response. they were both guys, a bit of mess wasn't going to hurt anyone was it?

"More like Bam sounds like a domesticated dragon if she is bonded with a human." Hiccup replies thoughtfully. He would love to update his Dragon Manual if he still has it. Such a shame to lose some of your equipment and Toothless's dragon abilities , really.

He nods at his question. "Better late than never, right? When i first checked in the apartment it looks like someone hasn't cleaned it for a while. We can take breaks if it gets tiring."

The room, oh yeah- that's his first task. "Are there any brooms in the cupboard? If we put our head together plus dragon to clean the mess we can finish it early."

This is...nice, as always. The dragon wasn't as much as a surprise as one would think, but you know, they have their own resident dragon here anyway. The guy's chomp-area was a little scary, and he's cautious of where he puts his hands.

But the smug lizard is kind of funny, and Hiccup is his pal, apparently. He seems happier with him here.

Hiccup sees that it's Badou's first time to see a dragon in hindsight which made Hiccup relax slightly since usually other people in the area are excited or get wary of his friend. Toothless seems to be content and happy no matter where he goes from here. The viking shook his head.

"Nope, not from where I'm from no. Phones doesn't exist in my era." Hiccup tossed another marshmallow at Toothless again and the same process repeats. "We eat meat and drink mead. Modern stuff still confuse some things for me but I can manage and learning. When it comes to desserts, berries are considered sweets back in New Berk."

Well, this was something he didn't expect. During his walk up to Padedeu Temple with Cucumber, he saw these weird totems around the Reserve. At first, he thought they were decorations but.. The eyes kept following him. So, he had to investigate! What if someone's spying at the acolytes?? But, that's how this happened. Once he even approached it, the thing started to glow into a dragon, until light circled everywhere.

... And thats how he's now a dragon. A small dragon at that, he's not even bigger than a cat! The fur and feathers were a white with soft gold trailing down his back, accompanied with blue horns and claws. Oh, and a horn on his head. Yeah, he can't headbutt anything with that on him. And he still can't fly without Power of Flight! Speaking of Power of Flight, he can't use it! And his Aquarius Blade is too heavy to drag around!

He ended up still going to the Temple, which the acolytes luckily recognized him and were able to get his blade and tell him about the effects. Well, better get started on his job! He should sweep!

Sweeping apparently is trying to drag the broom around like a rabid dog...

How odd.

"....Meow! ( Translation: Feed me! )" Toothless which appears as a large black panther wasn't so happy but he seems to understand his human's language that freaked him out at first. Hiccup sighs.

"Yes, I know you're excited I can understand you. Funny thing right?" Hiccup told him, Toothless nods in annoyance as if to say: "Excited? I can't talk bad about you behind your back in my own language. This stinks."

"You gotta bear with it bud. Take it or leave it. Now our friends are gonna wonder why you can talk." Hiccup scoffs , understanding his body language. But they stopped their tracks when they hear a familiar voice.

Wait, why is Pit saying that he's Toothless? Oh, Thor.

"Pit is that you in there?" Hiccup asks him. "Yeah, the totems did some kind of a switch-a-roo and now I can understand Toothless but he's a large black panther cat now."

"I am not, ungrateful human." Toothless uttered in annoyance. "I asked him for a basket of fish, and he didn't answer my request!"
