Barely an adult Derek, who after Kate, he wanted to reclaim his relationship with sex, cause he won't let her have this too, and ends up with a pregnant one night stand who doesn't want anything to do with the baby. And Derek doesn't even know about the baby until it gets LEFT ON THEIR APARTMENT'S FRONT DOOR.

There's a letter and a name for the kid. He, obliviously, freaks out. He literally turned eighteen a few months before. How the fuck Is he supposed to take care of a baby!! Laura helps. Of course she helps. So they raise him together. And for a year and half, it's as good as it can be.

Until Laura goes back to Beacon Hills.

Until Derek feels the bond snap, Eli feels it snap. So, holding his crying son in his arms, he decided it's time to go back. Find his sister. He might be wrong, right? His sister might still be alive.

And then he finds her dead on the ground, his son asleep in the car. He weeps. Takes her half body she's been mutilated, she got cut in half, she's gone gone gone, and fixes her hair like their mom always did, like Laura started doing after for him, for Eli, like she'll never do again.

He buries her next to their home, wrapped in wolfsbane. A spiral on it. Revenge.

It's a miracle Eli never woke up. By the time he goes back to their motel room, he doesn't remember falling asleep, Eli in his arms.

Things go as they go.

Until he smells wolf. New wolf.

Until the new wolf and his stupid friend get him arrested. Fuck, eli. It was already difficult to find a babysitter in this town. He was lucky they accepted to babysit. A nice old lady who's used to it and somehow remembers his family and how sorry she is for their family, they were good people.

At the station, he asks if he can have a call before starting. It's urgent. He just needs to call, to check Eli is ok and see if she can keep him for the night. Of course, as always, because of his luck, she can't. "I'm sorry honey, but I just got a family emergency. I can keep him for another thirty minutes, but I really have to go. I'll wait for you to pick him up."

He swears so loudly the whole station looks at him.

What is he supposed to do now? Fuck, he's so fucked-

"Everything ok son?"

He startled. Fuck, he was panicking so bad he didn't notice the sheriff coming closer to him.

The Sheriff looks... Well, kinda worried? Weird, since the guy arrested him for murder.

"Sheriff. I'm fine. It's just. I called my babysitter. Apparently, I have thirty minutes to pick up my son. And..."

"And since you're here, for questioning, you can't."

"yes"

"do you have anyone you can call for this? Anyone who can take of him until tomorrow?"

"no. It's just me. It was always just me... And Laura." Ain't that something. Now it's just him. Him and his son.

The sheriff sighs. "Look, how about this. I'll get one of my deputies to pick him up and take him here. They'll watch over him until I'm finished with you, and then after we'll let you go, under the premise that you won't leave town, you'll be free to go"

Wait what? "What? You'll let me go?"

"look, kid, when now you didn't kill your sister. Yes, it's suspicious, and although I have questions, as to why you're back and why you buried her, it's clear she was attacked by an animal. You're just here to answer a few questions. By the time we're over, we'll have confirmation that it was an animal. So, what about we get started with that?"

"do you and your son have a place to stay tonight?"

They just finished, and, like the Sheriff said, Eli is safe waiting for him with one of his deputies, and they got confirmation for the animal attack. So he didn't expect the question.

"uhm, what?"

"I said, do you have a place for you and your son to stay"

"uhm, we have a room at a motel in town"

"the motel owned by old Al'? ok, that's not really a place for a kid. That place is a dump. Would you be ok with staying with me for the next few days?"

"Sir, it's fine, I wouldn't want to impose"

"you wouldn't. And to be honest, it would ease my job in keeping a few eyes on you"

Well. The idea of a place that doesn't stink sounds nice, especially for Eli. But it would make sneaking around to investigate so much harder. It already is, with having Eli with him.

But. It would look suspicious if he refuses, right? And Eli deserves a nice place. Fuck, ok. "If I'm not imposing then. Thanks sheriff, for the offer."

"no problem son. Why don't you give me thirty minutes, and I'll get your things from the motel. And then I'll take you home."

"I do have to admit tho, you're quite young to be a father. Eli is what, a year old?"

They were at the Sheriff's house. The man was showing him around and the room they'll be staying in.

They're on the couch now, watching as Eli played with his blocks.

"A year and a half. It was a nightstand. She didn't want him"

"uhm, I'm sorry about that. He's adorable tho. You must care a lot for him"

"I do. Him and Laura...they were my everything."

"I'm sorry, for Laura, and for your family. I remember when it happened. You were too young."

After that, they didn't talk more, since, a moment later, they heard the jeep stopping, and Stiles opening the front door.

"dad, why are you already home? And... Why is Derek in our HOME!? WHAT IS HE DOING HERE. IS THAT A KID!?"

"stiles. Sit down. Yes, Derek is here. He'll be staying here for a few days with his son. You'll behave. He's our guest."

"but-"

"and you better apologize for accusing him of murder"

Oh, this will be fun.

And god, what chaos it would be. Stiles would be his annoying self. Derek would be, you know, Derek. Expect in front of the sheriff. And stiles would be so confused. Cause the guy was an asshole to Stiles, but then would be so kind and gentle with his kid, damn, Derek hale has a kid, what the hell. The guy is just a few years older and already has a kid. And the kid.

Also. Imagine, Stiles getting weirder and weirder, watching Derek like a hawk. Especially around Eli.

AND MY GOD. I don't believe for a second the sheriff would stay in the dark about anything anymore. Cause Eli is a kid, and sure, still didn't shift as a werewolf. Too young. Expect that he does, in front of the sheriff, and stiles, while they're having dinner.

Derek is horrifying. And panicking, stepping between his son and the stilinski. And stiles would be horrifying. And the sheriff would be horrifying. And well, he has to explain now, doesn't it?

So the sheriff gets involved, and stiles gets grounded cause "you should have told me about this kid." And stiles still remains involved, no matter what his dad says. And Scott, well. He's still suspicious of Derek. But Derek has a son, and his son is so cute and adorable and such a good kid, Derek can't be that bad right?

The sheriff would definitely find out about Kate. And the Argent. And what she did. And not only about the fire.

And wow, what a coincidence that every person who gets brutally murder by the wayward psycho alpha is involved with the fire.

And holy shit, when Derek gets shot!?

Fortunately Eli is with his babysitter. But STILL. DEREK. SHOT. they call the sheriff. Who is pissed. Cause Derek wasn't supposed to go anywhere alone. Too dangerous. Stupid idiot.

And also, who the fuck shoots at a kid!? Fucking Psychotic Hunters. That's who.

My god. Derek would be dying from the bullet and the only thing he would be asking about is Eli. Cause he wants his son close.

Just. Imagine. Derek and Eli and the stilinski and even Scott and his mom (who the sheriff involved because, really Scott!? It's your mom, she deserves to know. slowly becoming this weird little family) becoming this weird little family. And Derek just wants to cry at the end of it. Cause he was expecting to be alone in this. To have to face it alone. To have to raise is son alone. And now his son has a family. A family who takes care of each other.

(and stiles might still be a kid, but hey, Derek is not that old either, so really, who cares that he starts falling for a guy with a kid. They're a family, it'll be alright. Even his dad won't be against it. His dad loves Derek, and Eli, and their little family. They'll be alright. Shut up Scott, you're not better than me, with you loving a hunter, and anyway, I saw you sneaking sweets to Eli when Derek isn't in the room)
