gay ??

im so late sorry i never check tumblr lol 😭 but im happy to talk about it!

since they’re not from the same universe i have a few ways i like to go about it. there’s the three years hope’s peak au where they would be second and first years… in that case it’s kind of a typical high school meetcute. makoto is really earnest and fun to get a reaction out of so i think kokichi would really enjoy teasing him at first! over time he’d start finding him actually cute and he’d kinda try to softlaunch having feelings for him by just saying romantic things then saying he’s lying. it would take him a WHILE to actually admit it even in non-despair! honestly, i think makoto would confess first and kokichi would be like a deer in headlights hahaha.

another version i quite like is v3 based where makoto isn’t real so kokichi is just like, a bit of a fanboy. i like bonkichi :) i feel like he wasn’t too much of a new seasons danganronpa fan but he got hooked on it when he saw makoto LOL. i think he’d do some selfshipping and really enjoy makoto existing as a recurrent character in the early games… it’s unclear how the v3 danganronpa canon would deviate but i think there would at least still be the makoto narrative. he’d be like one of those purists who just go “the first seasons were better” to everything new /lh. i think liking makoto would only make him more apprehensive about joining the game but in the end i think his self loathing would get to him. maybe even feeling too boring and unaccomplished compared to all that makoto ends up doing.

in terms of general dynamic i really like the contrast of their general demeanours for one! kokichi is bold and larger than life all the time but he also keeps his true feelings close to his chest. whereas makoto is quieter but very friendly and more of an open book. i think kokichi would admire but also be confused by how he feels able to just be honest all the time. makoto also feels really open to me as a character, he takes all the bizarre personalities of his class in stride compared to someone like hajime, so i think he’d take kokichi’s teasing fine. actually i think he’d like it lol i wont be elaborating

as a sidenote, their mbtis and enneagram are really compatible too! i don’t put too much stock in that stuff lol but i feel they’d be really harmonious. makoto is a really modest guy so i think kokichi would really like bigging him up and boosting his confidence. just… like this more than in a normal way LOL
