You don't need to stand on the sidelines loudly commenting on how yucky you find it, you can go play your own games with your own friends. Assuming you can find anyone to tolerate your insufferable ass.

A bunch of them are tagging with perfectly reasonable relationship tags that reflect the particular part of fandom they're in (/reader, /you, etc.). What they aren't doing is adding some tag that lets me remove all of their work from my sight with a single click. That would have been possible with a dedicated category, but alas.

Or if we'd implemented a proper relationship between character and ship tags that allowed you to search for all Tony Stark / anybody tags at once. All of the /reader type ship tags would have been linked to a Reader character tag.
