My Hugo is a 24yr old transmasculine (she/him) Dené woman! She’s work-oriented, friendly, level-headed, and intelligent.. ….Unapologetic, overly logical, and oftentimes infuriatingly charismatic. Type you’d love to hate but can’t, really!

From the Iron kingdom, Ingvar, she works for an organization called “Apparatus”, a group dedicated to the study and innovation of alchemical engineering. It is owned and operated by an alchemist named Donella.

When Hugo was a teenager, she found herself at the mercy of Apparatus as they were developing prototypes of functional prostheses for amputees. She had lost her arm in a factory accident years prior, and built a metal prosthetic herself combining her skills in engineering and in alchemy. She invented a sensor device that could read electromagnetic signals from the internal friction of contracting muscles, and mimic them mechanically.. Behold, a prosthetic that can move with the “power of thoughts”!(Myoelectric prostheses!)

The overseer of her warehouse, Cyrus, was impressed by her work and introduced her to Donella. Originally, Donnie only wanted Hugh to rebuild this sensor from scratch so she could simply have the blueprint, unenthusiastic to hire an inexperienced and disabled teen. Cyrus convinced her that Hugo was worth the risk. Bright young mind, clearly dedicated and headstrong. Don obliged.

For her first few years at Apparatus, Hugo was simply an engineer. She worked primarily with Cyrus to refine her tech to be more efficient.(+Cyrus also taught Hugh ways to accommodate her new disability, being an amputee himself. ^_^) After that, she studied under Donella, being professionally trained in alchemy to progress the development of her prosthetics. During these years, Ingvar’s economy grew steadily more stable from the business of Apparatus, and Hugo became a traveling liaison for the company- making business across kingdoms.

Things only got interesting when Hugo returned home unsuccessful from a trip out to Corona, and Donella finds her working tirelessly overnight with only samples of a chemically altered amber , and frustration over an incident with unbreakable rock that blocked her from entering the kingdom.
