When I first read Fire & Blood, I assumed that Nettles was probably Daemon’s bastard daughter AND his mistress since he explicitly has a habit of grooming young girls. That isn’t subtext, that’s canon!

I also thought Jaehaerys (the Conciliator) was sexually abusing his daughters given the fact all of them show textbook signs of it. His youngest daughter, who slept in his sister-wife’s bed every night, committed suicide after becoming pregnant by some mysterious singer nobody remembers and having a stillbirth, and I assumed that GRRM was implying that Jaehaerys himself was the father.

It just doesn’t make any logical sense that a family built on incest, the universal taboo, implicitly understands that brother-sister relationship are a-okay but parent-child ones aren’t, and the Aemond-Alicent kiss in season 3 episode 1 of House of the Dragon didn’t come out of thin air!! None of us just fell out of a coconut tree, we exist in the context of all in which we live and what came before us.
