The Last Of Us 2 DID have a happy ending.

I feel as though we have already hashed out how Ellie broke the cycle of revenge, forgave Joel, and so on. But some people are unhappy, as it seems she lost so much, Dina, her ability to play guitar, possibly her home.

But I don't think she did.

Dina left Ellie's things to give Ellie a choice. You can stay here, with these old memories, full of pain and most of all, isolation. Or, you can come find me in Jackson. You can leave the pain behind, be with the people in Jackson you have cared for during these last four years.

As Ellie trys to play guitar, she realizes she can't do it the old way, with her fingers she lost due to revenge. But...do y'all remember the guitar on Joel's workbench?

You can make left handed guitars. Ellie headed to Jackson, and the very first thing she did was grab that guitar. Maybe she fixed it, found some that could, IDK.

But she made a a guitar that she could play. Sure, she had to relearn it, but this is the apocalypse, and adapting is key. She will miss Joel's guitar terribly, I'm sure.

But if is to let Joel rest in peace she has to let go. She can carry the memories, keep playing guitar; but she can do it on her own terms.

She makes that guitar, yes. But first, she walks in the door, and finds Dina. Dina KNEW that if/when Ellie got back, this is where she would go first. It's a home, in the center of Jackson, with good memories. A perfect place to raise a family. Their family.

Ellie, with her new guitar and family, is able to settle down. She learns how to play, how to cope, and how to be a good wife and mother.

Because if any of you think for one second that Dina would give up on Ellie after EVERYTHING they went through, y'all ignored her whole characterization. She needed to leave that farmhouse, because she couldn't raise JJ on her own. That farmhouse STILL houses bad memories for Ellie.

But Joel's place... It was his last offering to Ellie. A home. Their home.

Since they got to Jackson, Ellie had her own place. Her own life, really.

Now that Joel's is gone, and she has forgiven him AND his killer, she can be in peace. She can start anew, but live her OWN life, instead of avenging Joel's. A new guitar and home, yes, but the age old feeling of peace.

Ellie can and is happy. And that guitar on the sill reminds us we can let go and move forward. And we can always learn how to love again.

But after he dies, the only way she can remember him is when he's bleeding on the ground, face deformed and eyes barely able to open. And during the game, every time she tries to draw him, she can't get them right and end up putting angry black lines instead.

20+ hours of torture porn for Ellie to end up broken. I want my money back for both the console and game.

I am so sad. This is awful, waited 7 years to play a game where she goes on a revenge plot, kills everyone in sight and then sees the error of her ways and tries to turn it around, only to almost get beaten to death and nearly watch the love of her life be murdered in front of her. And we have to play as the character that inflicts this on her?? You really think I want to be the person trying to murder Ellie?????? I just turned the game off. Then she finally has happiness, they get the farm they always wanted, they have a kid and they're happy.

You're telling me Ellie would give all that up, her literal greatest dreams, to cross the country AGAIN to go kill another person? I call bullshit.

She also 100% goes back to Jackson and figures it out, either consciously or subconsciously. I need a DLC where they make up
