Speaking as someone who has only really seen the videos and so is very much not up to date on any lore implications, but given that the themes and relationships of Zombie Stage seem to still be very close to Alien Stage, where the aliens made mixed DNA kids of all the competitors at the end, while Zombie Stage has literally shown us that the price of competitors losing is losing body parts...
(I know they were selling off the parts, but also I mean... the average person does not have the same money an entertainment company who literally have the chance to PRODUCE an idol from literal parts of popular stars..)
(The show never ends after all so... how exactly does it continue when the last scrap of competitors are gone?)
It would fit the critiques the show is making of the idol/kpop industries to a T as well I will stake my fortune on this theory.

iโve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. itโs just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. weโre small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, โiโm not here to hurt you. hereโs something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know weโre on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. iโm being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.โ
small talk isnโt to get to know a person. itโs just a greeting to affirm youโre buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
10 years late to the party after reading the book and seeing the musical version of The Black Lizard and realising that the name "Ren Amamiya" is maybe a reference to Jun Amamiya, given he's from a Detective Ko"goro Akechi" novel... and Yuuki Mishima would fit in since Jun Amamiya is made a hell of a lot more sympathetic in Yukio Mishima's adaption compared to the novel.
(Does that mean police drag Joker would have a fake name related to Midorikawa...? Poor woman, she's the main antagonist yet this would mean her subordinate got referenced not her lol)

Pangur looks so young in these photos, and the art style was still in its infancy. I could never have guessed that in 2024 I'd still be making these, and for a tiny bald prince.
