I had to rely on the kindness of complete strangers last night and they were SO friendly and helpful. I went to see my friend at her apartment for the first time and when I was leaving, she accidentally put me on the wrong bus. I didn't know the area at all so I did not realize I was on the wrong bus until the last customers got off and the bus went out of service. The driver was kind enough to drive me to another bus stop to see if I could catch another one. Unfortunately there weren't anymore buses passing through that area so I went to a nearby cafe to ask the bartender if he could call me a cab. He was very kind and asked a couple of the customers- who he seemed to know- if they could help me out. One guy was checking Uber and another called a taxi company to see if a cab could come out. I told him I appreciated the help and he simply replied "What else are people for, if not to help each other?" When he heard that the fare would be ridiculously high, he asked a couple other patrons if they could maybe drive me to the nearest train station. Luckily, they said yes. The woman drove and her friend came with so he could give her directions. They were both so kind and did this without any hesitation. I thanked them profusely when they dropped me off at the station and the lady told me to get home safe. I was able to catch a train to the right station and then get the right train home. I'm not mad that my friend put me on the wrong bus but I did feel a very specific fear that I don't often experience.
