A far better version of my thoughts on how GCs recruit young people to their hate cult.
I’m not gonna be nice. It’s basically a cult now.
Young queer/LGBT girls, the leaders are working with the Heritage Foundation. They’re not just gonna turn on you, they want all AFABs to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
You’re dumb as fuck.
Ah yes, radfems, who are against submitting to men, the nuclear family, and having a bunch of children, want women to be “barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.”
Radfems are very different from trads (women who DO support what you said about wanting women to be in the kitchen and stuff). We’re trying to tear down the patriarchy, not enforce it lmao. You people just don’t bother learning the difference between radical feminists and trad women because you’re part of an insane gender cult.
I’m tired of saying this shit all the time, but saying something “transphobic” doesn’t make someone a terf or a GC. Women like Posie Parker aren’t TERFs because they aren’t radical feminists (the “RF”). Conservatives and radfems agree that sex matters, but it honestly ends there. We have pretty much the opposite views.
Wow the point really went over your head, didn't it?
The point isn't that you want women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. The point is that the self-identified "feminists" leading your movement are not only willing but eager to work with people who do.
There's a reason there's so much overlap between the rhetoric pushed by anti-trans "feminists" and conservative Christians, it's because the bioessentialist, anti-bodily autonomy, anti-gender nonconformity (yes I know your movement's thought leaders often say they support gender nonconforming people, but the shit they push about trans people regularly gets used against gender nonconforming cis people, too) worldview you push inherently leads to that. It inherently enables patriarchy. It inherently reinforces rigid gender roles and hierarchies.
You are upset by this post because you are its target audience. You are being used by the religious right, no matter how much it upsets you to see people pointing this out.
Firstly I apologize for coming off harsh at the beginning, because I’m willing to have a civilized conversation here.
Second, I have to ask you (not in a mean way, I want to know): do you guys think radfems are the same as conservatives simply because of the trans thing? Because if you examine both groups’ main views, they have nothing in common:
I do want to ask about the anti-bodily autonomy thing you mentioned. I haven’t seen radfems trying to fight against trans people getting surgery and hormones, we mostly discuss how it shouldn’t be happening under 18 (and yes I’m aware that minors hardly ever get surgery). And I might be different from other radfems here, but I say that once you’re an adult, do whatever you want. It’s your choice. Dysphoria is a real issue and if transitioning is what helps, go ahead. Considering that we’re having to deal with our bodily autonomy getting taken away by the Supreme Court, it seems somewhat hypocritical for a radfem to not allow someone to get surgery (we can disagree with that decision, but that doesn’t mean we’re against bodily autonomy).
As for the gender roles thing, how are we enforcing them? Radfems make posts all the time about going against the traditional gender roles imposed on women (having kids, getting married to a man, shaving, makeup etc) and they’re constantly criticized by libfems. Meanwhile, the “religious right” criticizes radfems for going against these gender roles. After all, gender roles are how they keep women submissive and slaves to men (the best example would be fundamentalist Christians). We believe that gender is a social construct, while conservatives fucking worship gender.
My last question is: which people are we working with from the right? And who do you think is leading our group? I’d argue that JKR is more of a conservative gender critical than a radical feminist, people just think of her as the leader because she’s one of the most famous GCs out there. And I want to point out that being gender critical doesn’t make you a radfem- for example I’ve seen a few GCs who have views that directly go against radfem views (like being pro-birth or pro-nuclear family). I’d like to know which specific radical feminist “leaders” are working with the far right, partly so I can verify what you’re saying and partly so I can block them and stay away from them.
No, I don't think y'all have nothing in common with conservative Christians. I think y'all have a lot of surface level distinctions, but when it comes to advocacy the main focus is always on trans people.
The idea that "radfems" (I make a distinction between radfems and TERFs because they aren't the same thing) aren't anti-adult trans people is absurd on its face. I refuse to humor this notion. Maybe you personally don't have a problem with me, but you are the exception. Every single other TERF I've met has had a huge bug up their ass about people like me existing at all and Janice Raymond, the person behind the Transsexual Empire aka the foundational TERF text that you cannot disavow because it is the literal origin of your movement, explicitly calls in the Transsexual Empire to "morally mandate [trans people] out of existence" by - you guessed it - banning gender-affirming care for all ages.
Also, if you acknowledge that gender dysphoria is real, then why are you opposed to giving medically necessary and provably effective treatments with little if any side effects such as social transition and puberty blockers to children? I can understand the hesitancy around hormones and especially gender-affirming surgeries, but this seems inconsistent.
As for enforcing gender roles, I acknowledged that the TERF movement does give lip service to supporting gender nonconforming people, however attacking transgender people does have the side-effect of harming gender nonconforming people because quite honestly you're using all of the same tropes to attack us that are used to attack them unless you're exclusively focusing on the medical aspects, which most TERFs... really don't.
It's sort of like how the "LGBDropTheT" people don't get why the LGBT/Queer (I know people get upset at me for using that word but it was originally created by us and only appropriated by homophobes, I have a right to take it back) community includes trans people and think we're some sort of new addition even though we were in the acronym since there was an acronym, back when it was "GLBT" instead of "LGBT". Society, especially religious conservative society, views all of us as an diseased blob of sexual degeneracy coming for their children, so it's only natural that we'd form a united front.
As for the last question, I'd reccomend watching "JK Rowling's New Friends" by Shaun. I know you said she was more of a conservative than a radical feminist, but you literally named yourself after a Hogwarts Legacy character so by your logic you yourself are an example of the phenomenon I'm referring to.
I agree that being Gender Critical does not make you a feminist, however the Gender Critical movement is an ideological outgrowth of Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism with exactly the same beliefs and rhetoric on trans people, so I think it's fair to say that y'all have allied with the far right specifically because there are so many anti-abortion, pro-nuclear family, pro-"traditional values" GCs. What did y'all expect to happen?
