you deserve the same happiness that you wish for others
“Tonight go to sleep as though your whole past has been dropped. Die to the past. And in the morning wake up as a new person in a new morning.”

As I get older I’m starting to let go of the guilty urge to build permanent habits. Like, a while ago I decided I would start jumping rope every day. I did it for like three weeks and felt good about it. Then I got bored, because of course I did, because I’m a human person. So now I do a bit of kickboxing because that’s what I like now. The other week I cut all sugar from my diet, just for a week, to challenge myself. Now I’m back to eating sweets but I don’t crave them as much.
Growth is about stretching, trying new things, and setting small, realistic goals for yourself, not picking a “good habit” you’ve decided you will be doing always and forever from now on. That’s not discipline. That’s pointless self-torture and unhealthy resistance to change.
What’s good for you today will not necessarily be what’s good for you tomorrow.

things will change when you start to consider yourself as a person— a friend, a child, a stranger— and realize that you deserve comfort, care and love, too. you’re not the exception. practice talking to yourself, practice looking at yourself, practice thinking of yourself out of the frame you’ve been confining yourself to.

Anis Mojgani, from “Here I Am”, Songs from Under the River: A Collection of Poetry
— Sunrise, by Louise Glück
feels like every few weeks I have to relearn how to exist, that I do need to sit in the sun and move my body and not drink too much coffee and dress in clothes that make me feel good and talk to my friends and journal and get off my phone sometimes and eat vegetables and drink more tea and generally reclaim the space in my life for myself ya know
“You must be the person you have never had the courage to be. Gradually, you will discover that you are that person, but until you can see this clearly, you must pretend and invent.”

for wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning — Vincent van Gogh
