🔥 Okay, I'm here always at your service with another W.I.T.C.H. literary analysis, the comics is so wild, the parallels, the mirrors, visual symbolisation, mirroring boyfriends, power of friendship, can you see this oh my 🔥
I like how Will and Himerish/Oracle mirror each other in the 4th arc, and really I can't get over all the little instances you can find there.
I feel like it gives better understanding of what Will is actually going through with all the responsibility thrown at her, standing in a position parallel to damn Oracle of Kandrakar, on a smaller scale, sure, but she is still a teenager. On the other hand, it brings attention to Himerish as a feeling person.
I'm thinking now about the scene in issue 46, Power of Courage, where Phobos (in Endarno's appearance) tries to break Will by giving her visions of her terrible future that should happen if Phobos loses and they win.
The Legend of the Shadowed Turtle and the Third Sun - a W.I.T.C.H. fanfiction
Helloooo after a bit of a pause in writing, I finally got to edit this fanfiction that is actually about Luba 😮😮😮
I once wrote a Luba/Endarno story - this is not it, I got stuck with it :(( but it had a premise that Luba is damn ancient and that while she never brags, she actually is the main heroine of like the most famous legend in Basiliade, a story that everyone knows in some way, that has a zillion versions in every land - so have one version here, where Luba is called Laeva :) A version with Shantian influences, you know ;)
Long before times immemorial, when three Suns were still glowing above our heads, there used to dwell the Fiery Turtle at the very core of this world… Then one day the Turtle became shadowed.
A dramatic adventure of two young heroes, who travel the withering world to find help for the Turtle, who once nourished the world with its fire! Heroes, who witness the sacrifice of the Third Sun (Yes, we had two Suns. But what about Third?) and blinded then walk the land - and blinded then enter the very underworld for their quest to truly be fulfilled.
The two young heroes, here as Laeva and Kyrak, are actually also Basiliade's most popular legendary couple. Luba is not so happy about it, I get her in this one.
If you ask - what is and is not truth in this version? I don't know. Nobody knows - only Luba does, but she never tells. Not even to me.
The story is briefly framed as being read by Yarr and Kettuah - for it is a story that still spreads around the world, between those who live, thanks to Laeva and Kyrak :)
P.S. yes i think i thought of turtle of all animals because of yan lin's appearance in the lake
(Standard note: Just like my previous post, this one still features my old signature "meran kyoya" because the original psd files were lost)
Here is a quick Inktober piece I did back in 2021, featuring Hay Lin from W.I.T.C.H.
Looking at it now, I really want to do a full redraw one day! I'd love to recreate it in my current style and give it a proper, beautiful color palette. But for now, here is the original ink version.
Hope you like this little dose of nostalgia!

just a quick idea now... phobos escanor rolling with his new role
(ok just putting the break here, cause tumblr itself breaks it in the middle of the picture) (so description is under)

A sequel to "that lake scene" post: Pemberley and Kandrakar
Never enough of Pride and Prejudice/W.I.T.C.H. crossover, never enough of Yarr/Himerish silly
okay can someone more familiar with the comics tell me why exactly cassidy became a star instead of entering kandrakar+ why she didn't join it after giving will a new heart? Are we meant to assume she officially passed over after that or was a reason ever given or what 😭
We don't have an explanation, and I think that mystery is part of the charm. Not knowing how everything works in the story creates this atmosphere of mystery, and things like the afterlife benefit greatly from that.
Here I can return your question with another, even more complicated one: Does Kandrakar count as an afterlife dimension? Do people who die go there? Is Kandrakar a spiritual world? Is it?Is it a physical world with creatures that are born, live, and die?
Yan Lin died on Earth and his spirit was welcomed into the Fortress, but all beings there are physical beings; they can touch and interact with physical objects from their dimension. Luba also managed to do that. But it gets complicated with most of the characters; we don't know if they died in their original worlds. Himerish was still completely alive and could return to his world and physically interact with them. Luba also physically interacted with our world on Thanos Island. So it's possible to go to Kandrakar without dying.
Luba, whom I quoted, is another case altogether. If those who die go to Kandrakar, why didn't she return to Fortaleza after being destroyed by Nerissa? Her soul turned into a sphere of light and ascended. So this already shows that Kandrakar is not the final destination of a soul and that there is a life beyond it.
So, can we consider Kandrakar a spiritual world or a more mortal one? I think they're exactly the middle ground. The origin story says that the universe was unified and spirits and creatures lived in harmony. Until beings discovered evil, and the world was divided. A typical Genesis story and an Original Sin that separates the worlds. So I like to imagine that there is the spiritual world of souls and spirits, and the physical plane where mortal creatures exist. Kandrakar is the link between these worlds and a final connection between this world and what lies beyond.
So Cassidy is simply that, she's truly dead, forever, the Oracle can't use her power to bring her back. She is where everyone goes to rest, the ultimate afterlife. Only returning to help Will in his most difficult moment when no one else could help, not even Kandrakar. Everything What Will had was his faith and the stars of his destiny, to which Cassidy was bound.
Finally, there is a connection between the starry sky and eternal life. "To say that someone who has died has become a star in the sky." That the stars are connected to our destiny... It's a story that brings a bit of culture and magic to a tale of witches.
This was deeper and more morbid than I would have liked, I hope it doesn't bring your ass down.
@doowlssleep @krchar Those of you who love and talk more about the world of Kandrakar, can you help the guy? I gave my theory and opinion, but I would like to invite more people to discuss the subject.
I think it is somehow like @tiagobarros says, and @veilchejaeger in the comments. Didn't think of the division of the worlds in this way, but such possibility makes sense :) They do say that Kandrakar is in the middle of infinity..
I believe Yan Lin's earthly death was some Kandrakarian magic and it was planned. She only dies right after she gives Hay Lin the map of the portals, Oracle back in Kandrakar says sth like "she's fulfilled her task and can come back here". Then there is the panel where she's last time earthly alive, lying in bed, smiling, falling asleep - an image of a peaceful departure, which here, i think, suggests that she is ready to leave one life and go for the other.
There was no plan like this for Cassidy's death - that is, unless we consider the option that she was deliberately sacrificed - and she was just killed for real. Star of Cassidy wiki explains (i dont remember the details so well) that the star was actually the spark of the Heart of Kandrakar that remains in each keeper, the one that Cassidy gives to Will. I imagine that her soul was somehow connected to the spark/star and so she could communicate with Will for a limited moment.
Ad Hime and Luba - I think they really just moved between worlds. We know that Hime left no remains, only his sword (Jedi style) - maybe Kandrakar has decided since then that they would allow the bereaved to have a closure and a funeral, at least, when they can't have the truth. And maybe Hime could have returned at the start (before Oracleing, if he wasnt Oracleing immediately), but just decided not to (cause he had a lot of problems).
Because - I do believe that Luba returned to Basiliade at times, cause she was constituting the link between the worlds in training "the chosen ones", ie Basiliadean warriors chosen for Kandrakar, like Orube.
So maybe Hime, Luba and Yan Lin were given a different kind of existence, but it's not so clear. Their corporeality may be a hint. Hime perceived almost nothing physically, but he starts to feel, when his role is taken away, then returns to Basiliade fully human. It's specific for Oracle that he feels so little of his body, so that he remains undisturbed i guess.
But I think there might be some milder version of this for others - rather like some eternal stream of living force, health, sth like this, and maybe muted corporeal needs (note: this does not prevent dating within the council of course). Yan Lin is a woman of considerable age, and I do think she looks very fit and healthy in Kandrakar :) And no one complains about backpain or anything... Luba lives for millennia, although we don't know, strictly speaking, if that is uncommon to Basiliadeans, and she's still an active badass warrior teacher. So like, a half-way immortality like Tolkien elves, eternal life, unless killed.
What I wonder is where Orube stands, cause she seemed quite feeling and living and may be not a full Kandrakar member like the older ones :)
It seems that the guards of the Garden didn't recognize her tho. Some time ago I was thinking of what if she actually died or spent some time on edge and Luba insisted on moving her to Kandrakar.
Ok as I told you I dont think Orube was coming from that specific garden, but OOOOOOHHHHH that's a hardcore vision of Orube's history!!! Grim and damn painful, but also giving her a hot deal of new depths, unimaginable for the Guardians, the contexts of Basiliade, Kandrakar, and absolute devotion (you know it's my thing), and also the new meaning it gives to her relationship with Luba???? Like Luba insisting on this in the first place, and then Orube's devotion to her???
That might explain why Orube is never questioning the council, even when her master has been led into sacrificing herself and she keeps blaming the girls for Luba's death although it is well known that Luba mixed the aurameres and caused Nerissa's resurrection. Again, maybe Luba intended to grow Orube as her replacement: we know that Luba has been a guardian of aurameres for a long time and it affected her somehow. Maybe the time was coming to replace her with Orube but with Luba's death someone else has been put in this position.
But yeah, Orube is very loyal to the council, even though it is led by a bunch of old loyalists. Although knowing that she is coming from a rather similar structure may be affecting her behavior as well. Remember: in the beginning she couldn't accept the fact the girls can argue with the Oracle.
Yes all this! She goes to earth on a wild journey of self-discovery and humanity.. interestingly, even Luba sometimes tried to calm her determination for duty above everything else.
I also wonder how exactly the mixture of Basiliade and Kandrakar works in her approach and feelings...

Retro guardians as school girls! 🧚🏻♀️
one of my favourite Endarno hc (not really canon‑compliant — you’ll have to do a bit of mental gymnastics for this one, lol) is that he doesn’t have any magical abilities of his own, whatsoever.
Any magic he uses in Kandrakar is granted by the artifacts he is carrying at that moment, usually his Mist Tower bracelet.
the only thing i could not fit in this scenario was The Memory Erasing Butterfly™
so i decided to make it a gift from an old friend - a bittersweet gift to help him face the ascension he'd been avoiding for too long
a gift Endarno never used and kept for all these years only for it to be wasted by His Highness prince Phobos who just wanted to mess with Cornelia
The Butterfly of Oblivion which reason?
In my mind, that creature is native to that dimension or to some random world that the Council has access to. Which raises questions.
If this is the reason why Endarno/Phobos's memories weren't erased when he touched the creature,I think it's less about power than simply being a "spirit," an ethereal being from Kandrakar. So it can't be deleted...
Or, even more sinister, the butterfly has already been used in it.Himerish still lingered in people's minds, just like Yan Lin, but perhaps that butterfly was there to separate memories that kept them bound to their earthly lives.
oh yes that's interesting
and sinister
also, Kchar! yesss changing your whole nature when ascending is a valid point - to be a permanent resident in the fortress you basically have to die?? in your home world... ofc all of them are not who they were before
