it encapsulate that small town where we feel in love. 

it means freedom it means sun kissed skin it means star gazing and moon watching it means wind in my hair  it means choices it means burden free it means joyful car rides it means dream sharing it means adventures it means questionable Chinese food off the highway it means making out outside the local Mexican restaurant it means slipping on a sun dress and sandals and being ready it means camping in the wilderness and feeling the nip of the night but feeling safe it means holding his hand when the road gets bumpy it means taking orders from no man it means eating home made meals it means taking my truck to the nearest reservoir and sitting on the side of the road watching the wind hit the water it means wilderness it means the desert it means a running creek

it means summer 2014  it means cortez

she woke up. dazed. what time was it? she doesn’t know. all she knows is the feeling of a restless night lingered like a hammer ticking at her head. 

She turned over and looked at the clock. 2:43 p.m.

she slept through the morning. another day of her “to do list” not accomplished. days seem backwards lately. a feeling of discontent and disconnection is heavy in her heart. she knows something is missing. she tries to be grateful she tries to think about the future instead of her “existence”.

work nights. sleep days. lazy evenings. then back again. 

she hasn’t found why “lazy evenings” feel like they are endless. like she has all the time in the world but doesn’t accomplish anything in the time. she feels like she’s slipping. 

she craves a taste of the future. she craves a dance in the wild. she craves the wind in her hair. the peace in her soul. the certainty of sunlight in the morning and the moon at night. she craves the attention the sun gives her body and craves the longing of hope that the moon stirs in the depths of her belly. she craves Cortez. 

she misses resting next to her person. yeah she catches a couple hours of sleep in the morning. but its like a drop of water in a desert of un-affection. he tries. he really does but her thirst is unquenchable. sleeping next to him doesn’t feel like rest anymore.at least not lately

her soul longs for rest.
