They're wearing the same sweater
I love these two sfm. Caps from 2x16.
And his face when he sees her.
Loss of Color
Brilliant Minds 2x16 made me think about the other times the show has talked about loss of color--or the opposite: the importance of color. Spoilers for 2x16, obvi.
In 1x09, Oliver's and Ericka's worlds are infused with color because they've just begun new relationships. Gabriel's color is gone because he's lost the person he loves. And teenaged Oliver's color is gone without his dad.
In 2x16, Johnny loses color after the death of his mom. And Oliver to some degree loses it as he completely breaks down leading up to and in Hudson Oaks (I've included one still from the end of 2x15). And the language he uses to describe how he feels when Josh comes to see him is a lot like the language he uses at the beginning of 1x09.
Another Periodic Table
Yay, another episode tonight! I'm so excited!
I don't know if anyone noticed, but in 2x13, Nora has a periodic table in the closet where her alternate timeline machine is located.
Cassette Tapes
My beloved. All the cassette tapes and players I could find on Brilliant Minds.

Musical Instruments
The musical instruments that appear on Brilliant Minds. I've included voices because I think that counts. It's notable that the cello appears in both the very first ep and the most recent ep (2x15). (We also hear Bach's cello suite No. 1. in 1x02 and again in 2x15.)
Edited to add ones I missed from a flashback in 1x10, Casablanca in 2x07, and the rec room in 2x08! Man, you think you're attentive, and then. If someone wants to help with ID in the 2x08 image, please. Help this ignoramus.
Pyrite
Pyrite (fool's gold) appears several times on Brilliant Minds. Spoiler for 2x15 in third image.
Three Periodic Table T-Shirts
Spoilers for 2x15 below!
Three periodic table T-shirts at different times of Oliver's life. I know we can't actually see the design on the childhood shirt clearly, but I would bet it's the periodic table. If you zoom in, it does look a little like that, but in brighter colors. The adulthood shirt in the pilot is softer colors. And then we get the one in 2x15.
Oliver and Dana moments
I wish Oliver and Dana had more scenes together because ZQ and Aury Krebs are both such great comedic actors. I compiled some of my favorite moments between them. Spoilers for s2. Info in alt text.
The Way Home
This is the last post for @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest because tomorrow we get the show! I've really enjoyed doing these, thinking about the themes that run through the episodes. This one has a lot in common with found family, but I also see the thread of finding "home" through your illness or neurological condition. I also love how Dana and Ericka find a way home in one another. Info in alt text.

Facing a Fear
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest! Info in alt text. Sometimes the show explicitly states characters' fears. Other times, we have to infer them. I know this post isn't about aesthetics, but these shots are really fantastic. Everything about this show. I'll really effing miss it. I feel personally wronged by its cancellation.
I've Been Remembering My Dreams
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest! For this one, I used actual sleep dreams the characters have, but also larger life dreams. Info in alt text.
Trapped
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest! I like this prompt because there are so many ways to be trapped. Physically, in an elevator or in your body. Mentally. Trapped in a relationship. So many ways this show explores it! I love how the show visually represents mental states. Info in alt text.
New Beginnings
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest! New beginnings are important on this show where so many patients must begin new lives with their altered states due to neurological or other conditions. Info in alt text.
The Architecture of Brilliant Minds, Part 3
(AKA Brilliant Minds 15 Until 2x15 Day 8 | Black Tie)
A day later than intended, but today's Brilliant Minds architecture topic (see here for part 1 and here for part 2) is Black Tie. In both S1 Ep 1 and S2 Ep 14 we see Dr. Wolf dressed to the nines at black tie events. But where do these events take place? Read on to find out!
S1 Ep 1 | Sophie Chase's NYC Wedding
In the pilot of Brilliant Minds, Wolf takes his Alzheimer's patient, Harold. to his granddaughter's wedding on his motorcycle. As the pair are pulling up to the curb, you can see that they are entering the Warwick New York Hotel, a real building in Midtown Manhattan.
The Warwick Hotel at 65 West 54th Street in Manhattan
Designed by Hungarian-Jewish architect Emery Roth, the Warwick New York was completed in 1927. This Renaissance Revival/Beaux-Arts structure rises 36 stories into the air as it gradually steps back from the street level. The bottom three stories are clad in ornamented white limestone, while the upper levels are made out of brick. The intricate ornamentation and classical proportions are indicative of the opulence of the Beaux-Arts style.
The exterior of the Warwick New York Hotel
It might be a challenge to find a name that has influenced the New York skyline more than Emery Roth. Emery Roth was one of the most prolific luxury apartment and hotel architects of NYC in the pre-WWII era. He primarily worked in the Renaissance Revival and Beaux-Arts styles. After many years of working as a solo practitioner, Emery Roth opened an architecture firm with his sons Julian and Richard, called Emery Roth and Sons. The firm became wildly successful throughout the rest of the 20th century, and designed such notable contributions to the NYC skyline as the PanAm Building, Citicorp Center, and the original World Trade Center.
S2 Ep 14 | The Bronx General Winter Gala
The Wolf Pack entering the Bronx General Winter Gala
The main event of Brilliant Minds 2x11 The Resident is Bronx General's annual holiday gala. This called for all of the Wolf Pack to, as Wolf put it, get "gussied up" for the evening. The gala venue was certainly an appropriately luxurious backdrop for the black tie event--the gala scenes were filmed at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex in Toronto.
The Renaissance Room at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex
This structure, formerly known as the Ontario Government Building was completed in 1926 by architecture firm Chapman and Oxley. Built in the Beaux-Arts style, the triangular building was originally constructed to house the Ontario exhibits for the 1926 Canadian National Exhibition. The building would continue to be used exclusively to house such exhibitions until it was replaced by the Ontario Place complex in 1971. In 2001 the building was purchased by the Liberty Group, carefully restored, and reopened as a private event and filming venue.
Floor plan of the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex
Courtyard at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex
So, to summarize: we're now two for two in terms of black tie events hosted in Beaux Arts buildings built in the mid-1920's. It turns out there's nothing quite like 1920s Beaux-Arts architecture to offset elegant fashion.
Questions, thoughts? Any other Brilliant Minds buildings you want me to feature? Shoot me an ask, or comment below!

I Tried to Forget About You
ONLY A WEEK UNTIL THE SHOW RETURNS!!!!!
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 until 2x15 prompt fest! There is so much forgetting on this show! So many kinds! For this type, I tried to consider lots of different ways this could manifest. Info in ALT TEXT.
Black Tie
For @dancelikeanarchitect's 15 to 2x15 prompt fest! There's a surprising amount of black tie in this show. Uh, due to my bias, there's perhaps more Oliver than is strictly necessary, but...why not get joy where you can. He looks so effing good in his formalwear. I saw your tag @brightbrutality and I'm glad I won't have to fight you for Oliver. I mean, I love Josh, but... My alt text might be a little biased.
