My hot take about the ableist, transmysognyistic puppygirl essay is that there is no actual reason the author had to compare the rhetorical puppygirl to men who use weaponized incompetence. Like, even putting aside the blatent ableist nature of the whole thing, it is still deeply transphobic the way the author goes out of her way to make sure that the reader knows that puppygirl is the transfem equivalent of every boyfriend who has ever used weaponized incompetence to refuse to engage in feminized labor. And its frustrating because that comparison does not have to be made, the author delibertely made the choice to compare rhetorical puppygirl to cis men when there are plenty of other examples of weaponized incompotencr to draw from. It is a known, documented phenomenon that cis white women weaponize their tears to gain resources over people of color. It is also known that plenty of cis women in domestic partnerships will engage in self infantilization as a way of exiting out of labor that would otherwise be their responsibility (ex: every 20 something yr old woman making posts saying that they are just too babygirl to have to order for themselves at resturaunrs or make their own appointments). And Tara had every opportunity to acknowledge how these patterns can appear in trans communities as well, but she just had to make the argument that puppygirl is akin to men in her role. But Tara does not have some kind of nuance about the nature of gendered labor, and she cant make her clean cut supposedly feminist arguments if she didn't directly compare any instance of weaponized incompetence to male violence.
