three is such a small number it feels practically impossible doing this, but. i'll try.

this last one is especially precious to me because apparently liam and zayn were sharing the mic because liam had lost his own mic under the stage (???) or something. bitch how tf do you even do that accidentally? (unless it was on purpose. gee, i wonder why he'd do that...)
my annoying ass will never (NEVER) shut up about this.
you'll find me in the apocalypse years from now incoherently babbling about this moment to anyone who's willing to listen.
this moment is basically a ten second long microcosm of the ziam story: them being in their little bubble of quiet understanding and a shared language only they're privy to.
the fact that zayn turned to him as soon as they won. the fact that the rest of the boys had already stood up for the handshakes and hugs, but the two of them were so engrossed in each other they didn't notice (or didn't care). just them two. the fact that zayn felt the need to shove his entire BEING into liam's. if the resolution had been better these stills could have passed as renaissance paintings. seeing this moment feels wrong because it just feels so PRIVATE and i feel like a VOYEUR.
there aren't a lot of songs in the 1d discography that had only zayn and liam (out of the boys) as co-writers. on top of that, there's the fact that soul provider was one of the first songs they had written together when they were starting off.
liam said working on stuff like that helped them realize that their musical tastes were quite similar. he said that writing together sort of set the early groundwork for what they wanted to do later on down the line. SOUL. SOUL PROVIDER. SOULMATES MORE LIKE.
HE REMEMBERED HOW IT WENT. AFTER A WHOLE ASS DECADE. that's probably one of my favourite things about it.
soul provider, for me, is like a centuries old manuscript lost to time. this integral piece of their musical journey, from their earlier years. we'll never get to hear it; and as much as i hate that (ziam rnb duo crumbs we'll never get), it makes this even more special to me.
all of these moments, in one way or another, are representations of their connection (the SERENADES), their quiet intimacy (the VMAS), and just. how crucial they are to each other (SOUL GODDAMN PROVIDER). if real life was a novel, i would analyze the shit out of these two.
