When you sleep on their shoulder. 

When you rest your head on their shoulder, when you bump your knees together sitting next to each other, and when they brush hands with you in passing. The little touches, they make up something whole. When you feel such a comforting presence you've subconsciously ignored, and realize one day how nice it would feel to share a bed together. When physical sensations in everyday life make you realize, "I like having you in my hands."

Joshua pauses his sketching, slowly looking up. Where that was a wide grin is now a straight line.

“ Five headstart. Four headstart. Three headstart. Back at it again with two headstart. One– ”

Joshua launches himself, arms outstretched. “ YOU ARE GOING TO DIE BEFORE YOU DIE. ”

“ that’s . . joshua, there’s-- we have months until new years, i don’t . . . “ 

and then it clicks. this wasn’t just a countdown-- it was a warning. his fond smile in response to the little one’s antics quickly grows more sheepish in nature, as he begins to take a few cautionary steps back. 

“ . . uh-- i’m-- i’m really sorry if that upset you! may-- maybe to make up for it, we-- “

“Benrey hasn’t stopped calling me a whore since yesterday. I don’t even know what I did???”
