Finished volume 4 of dmbj and omg so many near-death experiences! We had many in the other books as well but this time it's actually more extreme (which I didn't think was possible but San Shu proved me wrong). I knew A Ning will die since I watched "Reunion: The Sound of Providence", but I didn't knew when she died. So I was actually shocked when that happened in this book. I've never really liked her character (both in the novel and the show) due to her selfishness and shady behaviour but I didn't want to see her die either. The mood went gloomy instantly.
First introduction to He Yanjing as well. Not sure if he has any connection to any of the mystic nine families though. We didn't get to know his real name, but he knows Xiaoge hmmmmm.
I really liked the few conversations that Wu Xie had with Xiaoge and I have already posted them in separate posts. 真的很心疼小哥 TT.TT I also need to mention that Pangzi is such a ride or die friend (?) and always being there for Wu Xie is just so precious. From Wu Xie's pov, he himself has not admitted that they are good friends yet but I don't care xD
The 蛇沼鬼城 arc is not done yet and it continues in volume 5 since we have only just arrived to the entrance. I'm curious, what does Queen of the West have anything to do with King Wannu? Every tomb that Wang Zanghai has been to have had things related to each other. Can't help but think that this still has something to do with seeking immortality. Does Wang Zanghai want that as well?
I'm also confused about that tape where we saw Wu Xie (not actually him, but someone that looks like him?) crawling around. What's that about? Does any of this have anything to do with the side effects that Lao Yang said Wu Xie will have after that trip to Qinling sacred tree? He does have those weird dreams that are like a premonition of some sorts.
And did Huo Ling become a forbidden woman (禁婆)? How did that happen? Something must have taken place after the expedition team escaped the sea tomb. By the way, I also think San Shu is so sus and I'm not sure who the guy in the hospital actually was. Him or Xie Lianhuan.
