Npss is actually out here writing about every phobia in existence with his dmbj series xD I just finished volume 6 and that whole sequence where Wu Xie swam down to that deep lake with an almost non-existent diving equipment was an experience. Right up until he "drowned", me as a reader actually felt suffocating along with Wu Xie. Then we got that enclosed jade cave under water were some horrible thing, that looked like humans, called "密洛陀" were discovered. I wonder what that is? It obviously have something to do with Xiaoge and the Zhang clan, but why did those things exist at all? They also smell like Xiaoge, so is it his ancestors perhaps?? The whole village have something to do with the Zhangs so I don't think this is the last we see of it.
Then throwing in the mix we have Wenjin that was part of the "archaeological team" that was here in the Guangxi village, Hendry Cox that showed up with his team out of nowhere, A Gui's mystery son that we have never seen and Er Shu that knows about his brother's identity switch plan and having his own agenda. The mystery is mysterying alright!
I'm also stuck on why those corpses and the 铁俑 (don't know how I translate this) are all missing a right hand. Is it because of a ritual? That's still a question mark for me.
Another question mark is that handwriting Wu Xie found in that archive room. Wu Xie's says it is his writing but it's from 1990, so that doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure is has to do with that guy that looks like him on that creepy tape. What's this person's role in all of this? Is he the "it" or working with the "it"?
Last thing, I also felt some changes in Wu Xie as well. Him being more attentive and thinking more meticulously (like when he tricked Panma). He is definitely becoming the brain in iron triangle. I feel like when you have people that you want to protect, it will gradually make you grow more strong-minded.
Onto volume 7~~ I'm actually breezing through these books and I love that feeling when a story is so engaging that I just want to keep reading to find out more 😄
The East Palace (2026)
“Those who sin are punished eventually, you need not take a life.”
"Watching his dawdling movements made me incredibly itchy. I really wanted to kick him over and get close enough to see it clearly. But after he took off his clothes, I remembered that his tattoo were normally invisible. I asked 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) how this happened, and he told me that the tattoo were created using the sap of a thorny plant. It's normally transparent, only turning black when body temperature exceeded a certain level. In ancient times, many Miao people suffered from damp-heat diseases, and this tattoo were used to detect children's body temperature. Of course, exceeding a certain temperature could also be due to strenuous exercise. Therefore, 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge)'s tattoo would become visible during intense fighting or when he was excited. Also, due to different concentrations and varying sensitivities to temperature, only extremely intense fighting would cause all the tattoo designs to appear."
I'm just so interested in Xiaoge's qilin tattoo so whenever there is a mention of it, I just get excited LOL If for some reason Xiaoge is not from the Miao ethnic group, then what's the reason for the Zhang family to have this kind of tattoo? There are even two different ones; qilin that we see on Xiaoge and Qionqi that we see on Zhang Qishan.

William Chan as Zhang Qishan Mystic Nine 九门 (2026) | EP 13
Ying Haoming as Qi Tiezui Mystic Nine 九门 (2026) Episode 13
我佛……慈悲。 Wǒ fó... cí bēi.
“Rest for a bit. I will check your wounds. If everything's alright, we'll leave right away. Damn it, I thought we were doomed this time. I'm truly impressed; I never imagined you to be this powerful.” He leaned against the stone wall behind him and said calmly, “He and I… we can't leave.” “What nonsense are you talking about?” I yelled. He suddenly smiled at me and said, “Luckily, I didn't kill you…” I froze. He paused, then coughed up a mouthful of blood. “You—” My mind went blank. He was still smiling at me, his head slowly lowering as he sat there, as if he were just resting. But, all around was completely silent.
This scared me for real. So many adventures we've been through and not for once did I ever think that Xiaoge will die or even get injured. In book 5, it was proven that he is still human despite having a long life and in this one he was so vulnurable here. He still remember what Panma said to Wu Xie and that's why he said this: “Luckily, I didn't kill you…” 😭
jinyoung is wearing a black sweater with massive holes in it, including his entire shoulder. jaebeom is in the middle of saying something to the fans in a microphone when jinyoung comes up to him and very clearly brings attention to his bare shoulder. and jaebeom just kinda reboots? stops in the middle of whatever he's saying and jinyoung looks so pleased with himself. i remember it being during If You Do promotions, but it didn't pop up in the 2015 search. i know it was before he started showing skin so it was a rare occurrence.
Oh I have a very vague memory of it. Jinyoung had a big hole around his shoulder, right? Have to be during a fansign. I checked out my own jjp tag too see if I've ever reblogged it and to see if I can find an old jjp blog that was very active during that time. I think I found it! 😄

"I stared at these two pig-headed fools, initially unable to believe it. Pangzi started speaking, and although my brain still couldn't quite grasp what he was saying, I clearly realized this wasn't a hallucination; I really saw them! A flood of emotions overwhelmed me. The intense fear, hope, and worry I'd been holding onto finally dissipated. I didn't know how to express it; tears welled up, but I couldn't help but smile. To have gone through so much by myself — the intense panic amidst utter loneliness, the despair of brushing with death, and then finding myself safe and sound — that kind of ecstasy could drive someone mad. But my overwhelming emotions weren't because of that. What I was thinking was: no matter what the situation was, I was finally with them again, finally not alone! This feeling was amazing!"
Awww, the genuine joy Wu Xie felt when he finally reunited with Xiaoge and Pangzi and finding out that they were not dead dead 😄

"The disbelief in my heart grew stronger, but the thought of 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) suddenly brought a sense of relief. Hadn't I promised to help him? If he became a water ghost, so be it, I'd become one too, and the water ghost trio wouldn't be so lonely. If he hadn't saved me several times, I would have died long ago. What's wrong with taking a risk for him? Is my life that valuable?"
Such growth in their friendship! This time the iron triangle really has forged a tight bond through life and death. Wu Xie was willing to die to help Xiaoge and Pangzi TT.TT I love them!

Place: Chang'an, Yan Shang's residence maybe? Situation: This is probably after Wenji tried to stop Chun Hua's wedding but ended up getting beat up. Yan Shang is probably trying to talk some sense to him.

"By the way, Old Man Panma, how did you get that tattoo?" Panma looked at me, somewhat surprised by my sudden question. His son explained, "This is a tattoo to ward off Gu poison. A Miao shaman, who passed by when I was a child, tattood it on him. My grandfather saved his life back then, and he gave my dad this tattoo as a token of gratitude. It's said that with this tattoo, you can travel freely in the Miao village, and no one will cause you any trouble."
So Panma had a Qiling tattoo that looks like Xiaoge's, but he is not from the Zhang family. That's the reason why Wu Xie asked him that question. Since it was just a show of gratitude, it's probably not heat activated. What I snapped up though is that a Miao shaman knows how to ink this style of tattoo. Is Xiaoge originally from the Miao ethnic group?
I asked him what Old Man Panma had said. A Gui told me, "He said if you want to know, you have to come alone. This person can't go." I frowned, wondering what that meant. I looked at 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge), and A Gui continued, "He also said…" "Said what?" "He said that if the two of you are together, sooner or later one of you will be killed by the other." ---- Ah Gui translated, “Old Man Panma said what he meant was very clear: you don’t know your friend at all, and being with him will definitely not end well for you.” “You know him?” I immediately pressed. “Why do you say that?” Old Man Panma looked at me, paused, and after a long while said, “I don’t recognize his face, but I recognize the smell of death on him.”
So this Panma said Xiaoge has a special smell to him that he associate with death since he saw something strange happen in the woods. And those people that were supposed to be dead (he and three more hunters killed them) are not and they left the mountain with boxes of something that apparently smells like Xiaoge. Hmmmmm...
So, we know that Xiaoge is immortal (well, at least have longevity) and it probably has to do with his lineage (Zhang clan) and it's probably a secret only privy to Zhang family members. He was not brought to the sanatorium so he is not immortal because of a experiment (that I suspect the Wang family is behind of) so he doesn't smell like the forbidden woman (and Chen Wenjin). So do I take those two quotes as some kind of foreshadowing or not? I will probably say no, since I know neither Wu Xie or Xiaoge died in later books. This must have something to do with Zhang clan's secret to immortality. Maybe they want to replicate it with today's technique (that their ancestors could not if it's really the Wang family behind all this(?)). There is some mystery regarding some kind of iron block that must have something to do with it. I don't know what yet.
