“He first weakened himself to the point of falling into deep coma. His heartbeat was weak, resulting in very low blood pressure. He wrapped himself tightly in clothes to minimize skin contact with air, hoping to reduce the severity of the poisoning. Out of everyone, he had the lowest level of poisoning, which must be why.” “How did he weaken himself like that?” I asked. “By telling yourself, ‘I’m so weak, so weak’? Don't you feel like slapping yourself after hearing that? Could you really make yourself become like that?” “You wouldn't understand,” Pangzi pointed to Xiaoge’s hand, turning his hand over for me to see. I saw wounds on both of Xiaoge’s wrists. “To weaken someone, just bleed them. Xiaoge is definitely much more knowledgeable about bloodletting than we are.”
Oh yeah Xiaoge is a professional when it comes to survival. He knows how to take care of himself and definitely very knowledgeabable when it comes to his own blood.
"What do you think it looks like?" I asked him after looking at it for a while. He seemed to have a clue, but couldn't quite grasp the details, just mumbling "uh-huh…" for a long time. Suddenly, he snapped his fingers. I looked up. He gestured and said, "A sword, a sword, the Black Gold Ancient Sword!" I also gestured, constantly imagining the image of that unfortunate weapon. Slowly, I started sweating profusely. "It is indeed the Black Gold Ancient Sword, the length and width are quite similar," I said. "Holy crap! Could this thing be mass-produced? Does every member of the Zhang family have one?" I pictured a long line of Zhang Qilings carrying Black Gold Ancient Swords, marching in formation—it was terrifying, but also quite imposing. "There can't possibly be that many Black Gold Ancient Swords. If China had such forging technology in ancient times, it would have conquered the world long ago," Pangzi said. "Xiaoge's Black Gold Ancient Sword is an extremely finely crafted and perfectly forged sword. As I mentioned, it's difficult to lift with both hands. This kind of sword must have been forged by the most skilled swordsmiths of ancient times. Not to mention the difficulty in obtaining the materials, forging the blade to be perfect and making it so heavy, it's definitely not a traditional technique; it might take hundreds of attempts to succeed once. Therefore, there are probably no more than three of these Black Gold Ancient Swords on the market."
After reading volume 8 of dmbj I finally understand why Cheng Xiang said this during the newest "Timer Raiders/Wu Xie's Private Note" behind the scenes video:
The sword was indeed taken from the Zhang Family Ancient Building, where Fo ye's grandfather's coffin is (he was the previous Zhang Qiling). +1 knowledge point gained about Xiaoge 📝
Xiaoyu: *not my fault that I have my mask on* 😆

Translation: "Tigers Sniff the Rose" recently passed censorship and received its broadcast license; it has a total of 40 episodes!
Saw this as well:
How long does it take from approval to broadcast? Second review (dubbing, special effects, etc.): 15 days - 1 month. Third review (platform recommendation, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television signature). After the third review, it usually takes about a month to broadcast, but platform scheduling also needs to be considered.
YAY! Looks like they are aiming for October-November broadcast~ I heard there are lots of sponsors for the show as well! Cool! Everyone is excited!
I cursed inwardly, "Could you be any more heartless? Xiaoge's dead, and you're complaining about the smell?" Thinking it over, I walked over and pulled aside the clothes. I immediately saw the Xiaoge's face huddled in the pile of clothes. I froze, instantly stiffening. For a moment, my mind went completely blank. I can't describe the blankness in my heart. Suddenly, I didn't know what to do. Dead? Are you kidding me? Really dead? Hey, what kind of international joke is this? "Wake up, let's go home." I patted his face. Suddenly, I found it hilarious. I turned to Pangzi and smiled, "Look at Xiaoge." "I know," Pangzi said from the side, his voice low. Then, my hands began to tremble uncontrollably. I looked at my hands and found no sadness in my heart. My mind hadn't processed it, but my body had instinctively felt despair. Thinking to myself, "Damn it, it's confirmed. He's really dead, 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) is really dead!" "How could such a thing exist in this world? Even 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) could die." 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) was a miracle; his death suddenly made the world feel incredibly real and cruel. Can't all miracles in this world be eternal? Or is it that miracles never existed, and everything was just a coincidence, which has now finally ceased to exist? A long time passed before I began to feel a faint sadness. I could feel my instincts suppressing a collapsing emotion, but various uncomfortable sensations still leaked out from the "pressure cooker" of my emotions. I felt I couldn't let my emotions run wild; if I became sad, I might die here too. The feeling in my heart was particularly strange, not just sadness. I wondered if others could understand this complex emotion. First, there was despair, followed by a deep distrust of what I saw before me. My mind went blank for a long time before all the emotions within me surfaced. I had always wondered what I would feel if 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) died. I thought perhaps I would be incredibly sad, or perhaps I would become numb from thinking about it so much and preparing myself mentally, thinking I could completely bear it. Now that it had actually happened, it had become a strange feeling that I myself couldn't handle. After that, I was torn, unsure whether to be sad or pretend to be calm and suppress my pain. In the end, the former slowly won out. I did nothing beside his body, just stared blankly.
Wu Xie processing Xiaoge's death broke my heart! It's one thing where you are prepared to find him dead, but when you actually see him dead it's a whole different experience. I knew Xiaoge can't be dying here but I couldn't help but feel sad while reading this.
What do you guys think? We only have a few episodes left, and he is supposed to be showing up in two different eras, correct?
I think it's just a coincidence that this 401 soldier (?) is named Zhang Kun, but who knows.
Someone asked npss what Xiaoge was doing during this mystic nine period and he replied: Can't give any spoiler today.
But based on this quote though, it looks like Xiaoge will show up when Si ye found him (just like in the dmbj book):
At that time he has lost his memories again and was used as a bait and was put into an ancient tomb to fish for dead bodies. Not sure if we will get to see a glimpse of him before this.
"By the way, Old Man Panma, how did you get that tattoo?" Panma looked at me, somewhat surprised by my sudden question. His son explained, "This is a tattoo to ward off Gu poison. A Miao shaman, who passed by when I was a child, tattood it on him. My grandfather saved his life back then, and he gave my dad this tattoo as a token of gratitude. It's said that with this tattoo, you can travel freely in the Miao village, and no one will cause you any trouble."
So Panma had a Qiling tattoo that looks like Xiaoge's, but he is not from the Zhang family. That's the reason why Wu Xie asked him that question. Since it was just a show of gratitude, it's probably not heat activated. What I snapped up though is that a Miao shaman knows how to ink this style of tattoo. Is Xiaoge originally from the Miao ethnic group?
Answer to my own question is Xiaoge should be Han Chinese. Panma probably lied about his tattoo, or this is the "truth" that he was told by his family. Since this is the reason why they have this tattoo:
"During our initial investigation, we discovered that some of the most skilled hunters in the area, upon reaching adulthood, wore strange tattoos—the designs of a creature resembling a qilin (a mythical Chinese creature). We conducted extensive research into this practice, exploring the evolution of these tattoos and related legends. We identified two key points regarding their origin: "The first point comes from Han Chinese tattoo masters. According to local elders, their initial tattoos were quite different, both in technique and shape—very simple and primitive. Later, a Han Chinese tattoo master arrived and gradually taught them, eventually leading to the current style." "When did this Han Chinese tattoo artist arrive in Banna? According to their speculation, it should have been during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Information about him is very scarce; only one legend mentions that he came to avoid punishment, but this cannot be verified, though it's not important. We first learn that this tattoo was improved by a Han Chinese within the last thousand years." "Legend has it that the tattooing of this character by hunters in Banna was restricted to a specific area. It's said that only hunters hunting deep in the Yangjiao Mountains needed this tattoo." "The second point is, what was the significance of this tattoo? That tattoo was a very precise map of the terrain, not in the modern sense, but rather the safest hunting route in that area, discovered by the ancient Yao people after countless trials. This route was extremely complex, and in an era without maps and writing, the ancient Yao people tattooed it onto their bodies." "At that time, the tattoo was simply a way to record routes. Later, due to wars and various historical reasons, the original purpose of the tattoo was forgotten, becoming a custom without a clear reason. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, a Han Chinese who fled to a Yao village possessed the skill of tattooing and improved these crude patterns, eventually creating the tattoos we see today." "It's so complex that it's impossible for a person to remember it by mind or instinct. If it weren't for the tattooed map on his body, the hunter would have to give up before he even got a third of the way through; the path was just too difficult."
Panma is a hunter so his family have probably participated in building the common burial site for the Zhang clan back in the day.
Pangzi kept talking, completely lost in a frenzied state. I had no choice but to lean down and whisper in his ear, “I'm Tianzhen, I heard you.”* “我是天真,我听到了。”
Awwwww I'm so happy that they found Pangzi. That line TT.TT

I have some decent tea cakes at my place. Do you want to try them? Time and temperature are essential for brewing the perfect cup. (Outfit from Duanwu chibi Sy)
You Tiao (Chinese Donuts) 油条 These homemade You Tiao are the Chinese breakfast donuts I ate on the way to school, crispy and golden on the outside and hollow and airy inside. My recipe fries them from a simple dough of flour, baking powder, baking soda, and egg white, no street-vendor chemicals in the bowl. You’ll love the salty, pull-apart donut that you can tear apart with your hands and dunk into warm soy milk or a bowl of hot congee.

Pan Zi shook his head: "Do you know how I recognized you just now?" I shook my head, and he continued, "You hesitated. When you saw me just now, your face was full of hesitation. That's your unique expression; you never see that on San ye's face." He paused. "So, our first step should be to make sure you have no flaws. Otherwise, you're just an empty shell. Those people are all shrewd; you can't fool anyone." I touched my face, thinking, "Was I really hesitant?" Pan Zi immediately pointed at me and said, "It's that expression. You must completely get rid of your hesitation."
Panzi knows Wu Xie so well! Xu Zhenxuan that plays Wu Xie in "Time Raiders/Wu Xie's Private Notes" does this expression so well so the first image that comes to my mind is of him :)
It's such a coincidence that when I read about Wu Xie mistakenly light the sky lantern in the Xinyue restaurant (dmbj vol. 7), I watched Fo ye do the same thing in "Mystic Nine" but with much more aura 😆😂 Poor Wu Xie! I felt his embarassment and despair when he realised what he actually did.
So that jade seal that was on the auction, is the "key" to open the bronze door, right? Since Wu Xie remember seeing Xiaoge holding it when he went into that door. Are there multiple "keys"? Since this one can't be the same one Xiaoge used before...
I loved the introduction to the new characters; Huo Xiuxiu and Xie Yuchen (I will refer to him as Xiaohua). Since their families are part of the mystic nine, so these three have actually met before when they were kids. That's so cute. Xiuxiue wanted to marry Wu Xie, Xiaohua remember Wu Xie being an introvert and quite, while Wu Xie remember the name Xiaohua but has always thought he was a she xD
I don't think we actually got any "good" answers in volume 7 about the secret powers that set in motion to all of this. We actually got more complicated things. Remember Wenjing talking about "it"? Now we have another "it" (that was referred to as "Leader") during the mystic nine time as well. No idea if they are the same or not. Probably not, but those two powers are definitely aware of each other. This was Wu Xie's question to all of this:
"San Shu and Xie Lianhuan respectively represent the forces of Hendry Cox and then we have the unaffiliated faction of the mystic nine. Are the others just Faction B in disguise as Faction A? Then, which faction did 闷油瓶 (Xiaoge) represent at that time?"
*Faction A stands for the "it" that Wenjing referred to. Faction B is the other new clue that we got.
Then we got super little info about the Zhang family. So the Zhangs' origin is from Dongbei and Fo ye left them and branched out from the "main" family. It was mentioned that the Zhang family's background is not that honorable. I can see that, otherwise why did some of them leave? Zhang Xiaoyu from "Mystic Nine" even has a tattoo on his face that says traitor. So there are definitely many secrets awaiting to be unveiled.
There was also a brief mention of an oath between the mystic nine. What kind of oath? And what does it have to do with Xiaoge? Hmmmm... Starting volume 8 today!~ Can't imagine what will happen but I believe Wu Xie will find Xiaoge and Pangzi again no matter the cost.
