Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Fill your bowl to the brim - and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.

Most people will choose unhappiness over uncertainty.

Compassion isn’t some kind of self-improvement project or ideal that we’re trying to live up to. Having compassion starts and ends with having compassion for all those unwanted parts of ourselves, all those imperfections that we don’t even want to look at.

What you actually love is most truly reflected in your actions, not in what you feel, think, or say.

Millions of people never analyse themselves. Mentally they are mechanical products of the factory of their environment; preoccupied with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, working and sleeping, and going here and there to be entertained. They don’t know what or why they are seeking, nor why they never realise complete happiness and lasting satisfaction. By evading self-analysis, people go on being robots; conditioned by their environment. True self-analysis is the greatest art of progress.

See what you are. Don’t ask others, don’t let others tell you about yourself. Look within and see.

On a deeper level you are already complete. When you realize that, there is a joyous energy behind what you do.
