aedes / abilities & job
while he seems like normal deity , aedes is anything but in the others’ eyes. they see him as damaged and broken ; something created WRONG. he has most of the abilities that other gods naturally possess , but also something that sets him completly apart. aedes needs to consume to survive. while other gods create sustenance within themselves , he needs to ingest it.
though he attempted to hold off for the first few decades of his life , eventually he was too starved to think straight and so killed a younger deity and drank their ichor. he’d find that a single sibling can tide him over for a number of years and he’d have his fill during that era. with the war waging around them , another sibling seemed to drop when he needed it most.
he would move to consume human souls once he was given lordship over hell ( as thinly veiled attempt to get rid of him by the other gods ). they were but crumbs compared to his former meals , but they kept him alive all the same. and with thousands entering his realm every day , he could consume as much as he needed as a human soul will be used up within a day.
the energy gained by his meals will go faster as he uses his abiliites , but he can also SIPHON bits of energy off of anyone close to him ( but can limit this to physical contant only ). he does not gain the individual abilities of the other gods when he consumes them , however , just their remaining lifes’ energy.
aedes’ next abilities were developed over his years in hell. he has the ability of necromancy , but primarily uses it to manipulate souls into seeing what punnishment they desrve , turning them into demons , or communicating with them , ect. rarely is it used to actually raise the dead. life vision enables him to get a sense for when another will die , though this ability doesn’t work on other deities or such beings. as the king of hell he would also develop a relationship with the realm in which he can sense what was going on and control it at any given point. this has since been muted , however , and can currently only sense major changes.
while in the human realm , the question of where his next meal is coming from is most prominent on his mind. while just eating who he needs to when he needs to is the simplest option , dozens of humans going missing would lead to more questions and hiderances than he wants to deal with. rather , he found a job gravedigging at hawthorne cemetery. it’s filty and demeaning , but it allows for easy access to meals. the grounds house hundreds of bodies through which he can pluck their souls from if they ended up in hell. it’s only the bare minimum that will keep him going , however , and he needs to find something more sustainable.
he could easily starve. luckily , just two months ago , a god died and he was able to consume them , bolsering his abilities. it’s the first deity he’s had since being gifted hell and it’s reivigorated him greatly and will keep him full for the foreseeable future. he still keeps his job at hawthorne , however , since he does like the occasional snack and eventually the hunger will return.
