Maeve is a mother bot, she was specifically built to take care of children. This is something she didn’t grow out of once she went rogue, infact she started being kind and motherly to anyone she was close to. She’s currently taking care of 9 children, all besides Athena and Ash being wisps. She also has Jack living with her.

Her specific model has retractable arms that come out of her back, this allows her to multitask

She doesn't have legs, she gets around using wheels where her feet would be

Real name Victor Nikolai, smilers parents were barricaders meaning he grew up with terrorists influencing him and treating him terribly, this led to him gaining a mute and violent personality. He was also exposed to a shit ton of toxic fumes causing him to have lung problems, his parents telling him to “man up and live with it” if he ever complained.

When he was 15 he decided he had enough and tried to escape the bunker they kept him imprisoned in, however he was caught almost immediately and was physically punished in the process.

3 years pass by and Victor turns 18 and is immediately moved into the surgical room, turns out he was going to be turned into an enhanced soldier for the barricaders against his will.

Victor retaliated as much as he could but it was no hope, he had his lungs, heart, arms, legs, eyes and lower jaw replaced with cybernetics and a brain chip making him follow any order a barricader gave him, he was essentially a sleeper agent.

Wearing a mask with a massive smile to scare his opponents and wielding 2 revolvers, The Smiler was born and was sent out as the barricaders super soldier, or so they thought. Turns out the chip had a sentient virus installed without any of the barricaders knowing, immediately overriding the order function and instead had the virus control him at any point, this led to Victor gaining a case of D.I.D, the virus taking the smiler title. Despite this, Victor was free of that hell hole and began his journey across the baron wasteland known as District17.

He’s really fond of small birds [robins, swallows, ETC] any time he sees one he immediately just watches it until it leaves his sight

Due to his enhancements, he’s completely unable to sleep at all, can’t even feel tired in the slightest

Being one of the only humans left, Athena is put under the protection of Maeve, a rogue mother bot.

It’s completely unknown where Athena is from, her earliest memory being her waking up in the middle of the woods so not even she knows where she came from.

She’s seemingly the only human left without any cybernetic or magical enhancements

She lost her arm after getting it stuck in a bear trap while running away from Maeve [she thought Meave was attacking her when she wasn’t]

Issac, code name I554C is an AI who woke up in the middle of nowhere, seeing nothing but fog, concrete ground, some old walls and a service bot right next to him named Bolt. After the two made acquaintance, they both tried their best to figure out what had happened to the world and why it turned to ruins.

Ottomo, real name Micheal Otto was a former cadet for the vanguard of Shatter18, however due to mental problems he was unable to get approved into the vanguard. A few years later, a man named Dreykov saw his talents and took him in as a member of his crew [The Karaks], however a few more years pass by and Ottomo is used as a punching bag for the crew, being treated terribly by each member, this led to him getting an obsession with technologically enhancing himself.

The team would later betray him and leave him to die in a ditch, this only made things worse for him as the obsession led to him becoming more machine than man. He’s since spent 7 years trying to find each member of The Karaks and giving them justice, taking it to drastic measures.
