i had so many versions of adulthood in my mind when i was a kid. i saw myself as a mother making gingerbread cookies alongside my little kids. i saw myself as a student at uni drinking coffee at the cafe and walking to class through autumn leaves. i saw myself wearing cat eye sunglasses and clubbing and eating cheesecake at a rooftop restaurant. i saw myself volunteering and donating and earning and buying. i saw myself napping lazily with a cat. i saw myself falling in love. i saw myself catching up with my sister on a balcony someplace where we were both older and wiser and happier
