WE STAYED THERE, THE four of us, through the rest of that day, the night beyond, and most of the next day. When I finally resumed contact with the world, I was curled beside Jamie, a sheet of canvas flapping in a gentle wind above us.
âHere, Auntie.â Young Ianâs hands slid under my arms, and he lifted me gently into a sitting position.
âWhat âŠ?â I croaked, and he put a canteen to my mouth. I drank. It was cider and I had never tasted anything better. Then I remembered.
âJamie?â I looked blearily round for him, but couldnât make my eyes focus.
âHeâs alive, Claire.â It was Roger, squatting next to me, smiling. Bloodshot and black-stubbled, but smiling. âI donât know how you did it, but he is alive. We were afraid to move youâthe two of you, I mean, because you wouldnât let go of him.
â I looked around. We were still behind the rocky outcrop, shielded from the battlefield, but I could hearâand smellâthe cleaning-up. Grunts and talk and the shoof of shovels and soft thud of dirt cast aside. Burying the dead.
But not us.
I put a hand on Jamie. He looked dead. I certainly felt dead. But apparently we werenât. âŠ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
⊠I wetted my cracked lips and leaned over Jamie.
âCan you hear me?â I said.
His face twitched briefly, fell into stillness, and thenâafter an agonizingly long momentâhis eyes opened.
Only a dark-blue, red-rimmed slit, but open.
âAye,â he whispered.
âThe battleâs over. Youâre not dead.â He regarded me for a long moment, his mouth slightly open.
âNot ⊠yet,â he said, in what I thought was a rather grudging tone.
âWeâre going home,â I said.
He breathed for a minute, then said, âGood,â and closed his eyes again.
Give me the full conversation. How much of what they said ended up on the cutting room floor?
That was magic, Cait. You know it, I know it, everyone who saw that audition knows it. Thank you, always the most perfect couple on television.
The most beautiful moment.
Jamie Fraser | The 18th Century Highlander (Outlander)
Shared by Diana herself, and rightly so. It's beautiful. If you have 14 minutes to spare, treat yourself to reminiscing about Jamie Fraser throughout the series.
Good morning Sassenachs!
HAPPY WORLD OUTLANDER DAY
Every year on June 1st we celebrate WORLD OUTLANDER DAY, the day the first Outlander novel was published in 1991!đ Today we celebrate together a passionate community, a wonderful universe, and so many bonds that were formed and transcend space and time!âš
Outlander, un viaje sin retorno.
Outlander is a one-way trip
If we're going to analyze, let's analyze everything! Not just the part that leverages our bias.
In these circles, people love to analyze behavior, but obviously, their biases prevent them from seeing the obvious. The young woman in the photos is a fanatic who had a genuine emotional overflow in front of a crowd, telling Caitriona personal things at an inopportune moment. The next thing we know, she moved to Scotland, studied a degree that would lend credibility to the profession she wanted to pursue, got engaged to a Scotsman in one of the iconic locations in OL, waited who knows how long for the chapel where Jamie and Claire got married to become available, and captured people's attention on social media. From there stems everything we see today: she does OL tours because, in theory, she's an expert in Scottish history and also a fanatic; she partnered with a relevant photographer to create content; we don't even know if SS ever hired her, since the business relationship was with the photographer; the point is that she ended up appearing in the brand's images (perhaps because the photographer used her as a model, since this girl has made everything too performative, and social media photographers love that), and now, with her tours, she takes people to Galloway and tags the brands, so Sam reposts her, as she does with a housewife who uploads a video receiving the Special Edition of her Sassenach whisky, or the people who take pictures in front of the rock. Obviously, none of the analysts realized that the event organizers (the media network that owns the rights to the series) took certain influencers from OL (because yes, mediocrity has led event organizers around the world to believe that being an influencer qualifies a person to be "press"), and placed them at those doors to fulfill some role.
In her case, she was recruited by none other than Parade magazine as a correspondent, and obviously invited by the company; guess who her plus one was? Yes, exactly, the photographer. An obvious connection. But lately, too many obvious things are being overlooked, such as the body language of the two subjects in the photograph that's meant to be presented as proof of "closeness," and I won't even mention the perspective and angle from which the photo was taken.
You don't have to believe me, you can see in the photos I've attached that both the young lady and the well-known Andy share the same ribbon holding a "press" ID, and in the caption of the image he shared, he clearly thanks the company for inviting him. On her profile you can read that she thanks Parade for the opportunity. What's more, there are even collages of her with other influencers.
So, this isn't a girl fight, nor is it about access to a man. This is simply a fan who meticulously planned every step to get close to the object of her obsession (which is not the man), even if it took her a very long time. A fan who suddenly stops overacting in public, and in a radical change of behavior, "built" a "business" that now allows her to be invited by a magazine and a well-known media company? Well, that's where the real analysis needs to be done, and Tumblr is obviously not the right place for it, because we're talking about things that are more complex and profound than just "patterns". Spoiler alert: the analysis isn't about clever moves to achieve your goals either.
However, images still tell stories; even an influencer's feed tells stories, and these are accessible to everyone. And what does the story that many choose to ignore tell us?:
- Does she have a business? Yes, her profile suggests so.
- Has she practiced her profession? Yes, I've seen her lead a group tour at least once.
- Is she truly focused on the described business? It doesn't seem so, because her profile appears more like a personal branding project than a tour guide profile. In fact, I've counted at least four alternative professions related to the same topic, all heavily focused on building prestige on social media.
- Is she a distinctive figure in the niche? Not really; she's simply leveraged her visibility to create a business around whatever it was that initially brought her into the spotlight. For example, she offered trips to last night's concert with the photographer, and well, on the surface that seems distinctive, but when you find out they were both going to be there anyway, it's easy to see that the planning of the experience was reduced to coordinating transportation, refreshments, and eventually, accommodations (tourism professionals, I'm so sorry that intrusion has reached these levels).
- Is it possible to connect with her just by looking at her profile? Well, I think that's a personal thing, but in my case, it's impossible, because everything is excessively performative, and for me, feeling something intensely and, at the same time, being performative in relation to what I'm experiencing are mutually exclusive conditions. I can't deal with things perfectly planned and curated for an image or video, and much less can I deal with preparing a camera before confronting an experience that I know will emotionally overwhelm me, to record and photograph myself, and for others to see what I live or what I feel about that experience.
And I'm going to stop here, because any analysis from now on would have to touch on topics that shouldn't be analyzed on social media, and also because while I was writing, another case resonated with me too much, which will not be given visibility in this blog.
Si vamos a analizar, ÂĄanalicemos todo!, no sĂłlo la parte que apalanca nuestro sesgo.
En estos espacios aman analizar conductas, pero obviamente, los sesgos que tienen, no les permiten ver lo obvio. La señorita de las fotos, es una fanĂĄtica que tuvo un autĂ©ntico desbordamiento emocional, frente a una multitud, diciĂ©ndole cosas a Caitriona de su vida personal, en un momento inoportuno. Lo siguiente que observamos es que se mudĂł a Escocia, estudiĂł una carrera que le diera credibilidad al oficio que querĂa desempeñar, se comprometiĂł con un escocĂ©s en una de las locaciones icĂłnicas en OL, esperĂł no sĂ© cuĂĄnto tiempo para que se liberara la capilla en la que se casaron Jamie y Claire, y captĂł la atenciĂłn de la gente en RRSS. De allĂ se desprende todo lo que vemos hoy: hace tours de OL porque en teorĂa, es experta en historia escocesa y ademĂĄs fanĂĄtica, se asociĂł a una fotĂłgrafa con relevancia para crear contenido, no sabemos siquiera si SS la contratĂł a ella alguna vez, pues la relaciĂłn comercial era con la fotĂłgrafa, la cosa es que pasĂł a estar en imĂĄgenes de la marca (quizĂĄ porque la fotĂłgrafa la utilizĂł de modelo, ya que esta chica se ha encargado de hacer todo demasiado performativo, y a los fotĂłgrafos de RRSS, les encanta eso), y ahora, con sus tours, lleva a gente a Galloway y etiqueta a las marcas, por lo que Sam la repostea, como lo hace con una ama de casa que sube un video recibiendo la EdiciĂłn Especial de su whisky Sassenach, o las personas que se fotografĂan frente a la roca. Obviamente, ninguno de los analizadores, se dio cuenta que los organizadores del evento (la cadena mediĂĄtica dueña de los derechos de la serie) tomaron a ciertos influencers de OL (porque sĂ, la mediocridad ha hecho creer a los organizadores de eventos en todo el mundo que ser influencer habilita a la persona para ser "prensa"), y los pusieron en esas puertas para que cumplieran algĂșn rol.
En el caso de ella, fue convocada nada mĂĄs y nada menos que por Parade, como corresponsal, y obviamente, invitada por la compañĂa; adivinen ÂżquiĂ©n fue su +1?, sĂ, exactamente, la fotĂłgrafa. Una relaciĂłn obvia. Pero Ășltimamente, hay demasiadas obviedades que se estĂĄn saltando, como por ejemplo, todo el lenguaje corporal de los dos sujetos en la fotografĂa que pretende ser presentada como prueba de "cercanĂa", y ya ni les cuento lo concerniente a la perspectiva y el ĂĄngulo con el que se tomĂł la foto.
No es necesario que me crean, pueden ver en las fotos que anexo, que tanto la señorita, como el conocido Andy, comparten la misma cinta que sostiene una identificaciĂłn de "prensa", y en el caption de la imagen compartida por Ă©l, claramente agradece a la compañĂa, por haberlo invitado. En el perfil de ella pueden leer que agradece a Parade por la oportunidad. Es mĂĄs, hay hasta collages de ella con otros influencers.
Entonces, aquĂ no hay una pelea de chicas, ni tampoco se trata de acceso al hombre, Ă©sto simplemente es una fanĂĄtica que planificĂł muy bien cada paso a dar para estar cerca del objeto de su fanatismo (que no es el hombre), asĂ Ă©sto le tomara muchĂsimo tiempo. ÂżUna fanĂĄtica que de pronto ya no se desborda en pĂșblico, y en un vuelco radical de conducta, "construyĂł" un "negocio" que hoy le permite ser convocada por un magazine y una empresa de medios, reconocidĂsima?; bueno, allĂ es donde estĂĄn los verdaderos anĂĄlisis a realizar, y que obviamente, no son Tumblr el lugar adecuado para hacerlo, porque estamos hablando de cosas mĂĄs complejas y profundas, que "patrones". Alerta de spoiler: tampoco el anĂĄlisis va de jugadas inteligentes para lograr sus objetivos.
Sin embargo, las imågenes siguen contando historias, inclusive, el feed de un influencer, cuenta historias, y esas si son accesibles a todos. Y ¿qué nos dice la historia ante la que muchos se hacen los desentendidos?:
- ÂżTiene ella un negocio?, sĂ, su perfil asĂ lo plantea.
- ÂżElla ha ejercido su oficio?, sĂ, por lo menos he visto una visita de ella con un grupo de personas.
- ÂżEstĂĄ ella realmente enfocada en el objeto descrito del negocio?, no lo parece tanto, porque su perfil parece mĂĄs la construcciĂłn de una marca personal, que un perfil de guĂa turistica. De hecho, he contado por lo menos cuatro oficios alternativos, asociados al mismo tema, y muy enfocados en la creaciĂłn de prestigio en RRSS.
- ÂżEs ella alguien distintivo en el nicho?, no realmente, sĂłlo ha aprovechado la visibilidad, para crear negocio en torno a cualquiera sea el motivo que le dio visibilidad en un momento. Por ejemplo, ofreciĂł, junto a la fotĂłgrafa, viajes al Concierto de anoche, y bueno, eso en la superficie parece ser distintivo, pero cuando te enteras que ambas iban a estar allĂ de todos modos, no cuesta pensar en que la planificaciĂłn de la experiencia se reducĂa a coordinar traslados, refrigerios, y eventualmente, hospedajes (amigos profesionales del turismo, lamento muchĂsimo que el intrusismo haya llegado a estos niveles).
- ÂżEs posible conectar con ella sĂłlo viendo su perfil?, bueno, creo que eso serĂĄ algo de cada quien, pero en mi caso, es imposible, porque todo es exageradamente performativo, y para mĂ, sĂ son condiciones excluyentes el sentir algo intensamente, y a la vez, ser performativa respecto a eso que estoy experimentando. No puedo lidiar con las cosas perfectamente planificadas y curadas para una imagen, video o perfil, y muchĂsimo menos, puedo lidiar con preparar una cĂĄmara antes de confrontar una experiencia que sĂ© que me va a trastocar emocionalmente, para grabarme y fotografiarme, y que otros vean lo que vivo o lo que siento en torno a esa experiencia.
Y me voy a detener aquĂ, porque cualquier anĂĄlisis a partir de ahora, tendrĂa que tocar temas que no deberĂan pretender analizarse en RRSS, y tambiĂ©n, porque mientras iba escribiendo, me resonĂł demasiado otro caso al que no se le darĂĄ visibilidad en este blog.
I'll stick with the details
A week after the Outlander finale, I must say that two things remain: (1) my absolute satisfaction with the resolution they gave it, and (2) a numbness from the sheer volume of material created around it. Press, influencers, social media usersâsimply a bunch of people wanting to seize the moment to talk. It doesn't matter what they talk about; they just want to talk about something related to the series. In the age of misinformation, clickbait, underutilized AI, virality and hashtags, the meaningless conversations and content are the order of the day, and I'm truly overwhelmed by the uncontrolled spread of information that adds nothing new, or worse, distorts the facts.
I won't dwell on the opinions regarding the ending, as everyone will have their own, tailored to their personal tastes. Instead, I'll briefly address the fact that I've often wondered, "What series did these people watch?" or "What book did they read?" It's not so much the opinion itself, but rather their lack of understanding of what they saw or read. Their analyses are so outlandish that, well, there's no point even mentioning them. It's also amused me that many people claim that many storylines weren't given proper closure, and when asked which ones, they end up talking about the secondary characters, about whom another group of people complained endlessly that they were given too much screen time. Nobody understands what they expected, but what is clear to me is that what the main actors and producers always warned us about was true: it was going to be impossible to please every audience.
The people around me, with whom I discuss Outlander, were very pleased; to this day, we're still grieving the end of the series, and at the same time, eagerly awaiting book 10. I love acknowledging that it's not because we feel any void regarding the answers the series provided, but because we're now also interested in the answers the book offers. It's like a double joy, because the plot threads multiplied, they didn't overlap, and that keeps the Outlander flame very much alive. Of course, I know this might be more common among book readers, and not so much among series viewers, who certainly wonder, "What happened after Jamie and Claire opened their eyes?" Because yes, they both opened their eyes and breathed again; they're alive on the very ground where they had previously closed their eyes. I appreciate that the producers and actors, in their subsequent interviews (the unedited video ones, since all the written interviewsâeven those from reputable media outletsâmanaged to distort some aspect of the story), didn't try to impose their own viewpoints. Instead, they simply stated what they would have preferred, and that was it! They left it to the viewer to form their own interpretation of the ending. Furthermore, they all agreed that no matter how or where, Jamie and Claire would be eternal, their love story was infinite, and what a beautiful message, because yes, that's precisely what they convey. And it's not a forced interpretation of the relationship, one of those you adopt as an alternative to poorly executed or empty things, where your mind tries to make sense of what you witnessed; the eternity of that love feels solid because that interpretation is a product of its very construction. It's having witnessed the entire lives of two people who chose each other time and time again.
Accustomed as I am to Outlander being underestimated, I stopped focusing on the big details and concentrated on the finer points. And this is where I'm grateful I read the books, because I'm fascinated by discovering all those little things and confirming the care they've (almost always) taken with what they present, and the magnificent work Sam and Caitriona do portraying Jamie and Claire, something I've mentioned countless times here. But since what I'm focusing on right now is the ending, I'm going to share something that amazed me, with an excerpt from the book and its corresponding image from the series.
âThe blood trickled slowly, dark and veiny. I was on my knees in the bloody mud, and there were large reddish-black stains on my dress. It felt warm against my skin, though that was probably just the heat of the day. âYou canât,â I said desperately. âJamie⊠you canât.â He opened his eyes, and I noticed he was looking beyond and through me, as if he were fixing them on something very, very far away. âForgive meâŠâ he said, his voice barely a whisper, and I couldnât tell if he was speaking to me or to God. âOh, Jesus!â I replied, feeling a cold, metallic taste on my tongue. âJamie⊠please. Please donât go.â His eyelids fluttered. And then they closed".
Oh my God, that look from Jamie! What Sam did was magnificent. In the book, Jamie has a gaze that doesn't just see Claire, but pierces her and goes beyond her, and when he asks for forgiveness, she doesn't know if he's addressing her or God. Since the series established that this was a dialogue between them, his gaze pierces her, but stays with her; in that instant, she is the world, and explicitly, he asks for her forgiveness. What they did with these scenesâkeeping them as they are in the book, but giving them the appropriate meaning for what they wanted to convey in the series, and capturing those small details, like the look, the tone of the conversationâI thought it was spectacular. It was the book coming to life, but in its own way. And Sam's performance, OMG, how beautifully he did it. Cait was also outstanding in her part of this story.
"I refused to let go. I couldn't speak anymore; I didn't have the strength for it. But I didn't want to let go or move from there. Ian spoke to me every now and then. Other voices came and went. Alarm, worry, anger, despair. Ian and Roger. I didn't hear. "Blue." "So beautiful." "It's not empty." âą âą âą My face was pressed against his chest, my mouth over the wound in his sternum, the silvery taste of blood and the salt of sweat on my tongue. I thought I could feel the slowâvery slowâbeats of his heart. Thump-thump, thump-thump... I thought of Brianna's heart, beating rapidly; of the tiny, lively taps of Davy's under my fingers; I tried to feel my own heartbeat in my fingertips, to transfer all that life into his. "Don't let go."
The way Caitriona portrayed the grief and pain of that moment was spectacular. It was exactly the kind of unbearable pain depicted in the book, the kind that pierced her, yet she refused to let it consume her, until she understood, just as the series portrayed, that they needed to rest. In the book, with all the mysticism of this moment, the instant when Claire manages to enter Jamie, becoming one with him, to breathe life into him and heal him from within, is when she surrenders to the inexplicable nature of what she was feeling, when she loses all awareness of what was happening around her. I find it beautiful that they were able to maintain the essence of the book without losing sight of the transcendent nature of the moment. I couldn't fault them for omitting that moment of opening his eyes and breathing, because Claire, in the book, awoke disoriented, and Jamie wasn't even awakeâalive, yes, but not conscious. It was a complete respect for what the book wanted to convey, and a respect for its own story, so yes, I'm left with the details, and without any hype, I'm left with the masterful way in which Sam and Cait portrayed that moment. I feel so sorry for the people who couldn't enjoy this series finale, or Season 8, or the characters, or the acting, or anything about Outlander, because it's truly beautiful. The good thing about this is that they won't have to see it anymore, and there are many books and television series left that they can enjoy without feeling frustrated by what they don't like. In this space, Jamie and Claire will be eternal, just as those who brought them to life intended.
Me quedo con los detalles
A una semana del final de Outlander, debo decir que dos cosas persisten: (1) mi satisfacciĂłn absoluta por la resoluciĂłn que le dieron, y (2) un embotamiento por el exceso de material creado en torno a ello. Prensa, influencers, usuarios de redes, simplemente un montĂłn de personas queriendo aprovechar el momento para hablar. No importa de lo que hablen, simplemente quieren hacerlo de algo relacionado a la serie. En la era de la desinformaciĂłn, el clickbait, la IA subutilizada, la viralidad y los hashtags, las conversaciones y contenidos carentes de sentido, estĂĄn a la orden del dĂa, y realmente me abruma la difusiĂłn descontrolada de informaciĂłn, que no aporta nada nuevo, o peor aĂșn, que tergiversa los eventos.
No me detendré a conversar sobre las opiniones respecto al final, pues cada quien tendrå las suyas, ajustadas a sus gustos personales. En su lugar, me detendré brevemente en el hecho de que mås de una vez me he preguntado ¿qué serie vieron estas personas?, ¿o qué libro leyeron?, no tanto por la opinión, sino por la falta de comprensión de lo que vieron o leyeron, porque hacen unos anålisis tan descabellados, que bueno, ni para que hablar de ellos. Me ha causado gracia, a su vez, que un montón de personas alegan que no se le dió cierre adecuado a muchas historias, y cuando les preguntan ¿cuåles?, terminan hablando de los personajes secundarios, de los cuales, otro montón de personas se quejó incansablemente, que se les dio demasiado tiempo en pantalla. Nadie entiende qué esperaban, pero lo que sà me quedó claro es que lo que siempre nos advirtieron los actores principales y los productores, era cierto, iba a ser imposible complacer a todas las audiencias.
Las personas que me rodean, con las que hablo de Outlander, quedamos muy complacidas; al dĂa de hoy, estamos pasando por nuestro duelo de la serie, y a su vez, esperando con muchĂsima ilusiĂłn el libro 10. Me encanta reconocer que no es porque sintamos algĂșn vacĂo respecto a las respuestas que entregĂł la serie, sino porque ahora tambiĂ©n nos interesan las respuestas del libro. Es como una alegrĂa doble, porque los desenlaces se multiplicaron, no se solaparon, y eso mantiene la llama Outlander, muy viva. Claro, sĂ© que esto puede ser mĂĄs comĂșn en los lectores de los libros, y no tanto en los espectador de la serie, quienes ciertamente se preguntan ÂżquĂ© pasĂł luego de que Jamie y Claire abrieron los ojos?, porque sĂ, ambos abrieron los ojos y respiraron a su vez, estĂĄn vivos sobre el terreno en el que previamente habĂan cerrado los ojos. Me gusta que los productores y los actores, en sus entrevistas posteriores (las grabadas en vĂdeos sin ediciones, pues todas las escritas -asĂ fueran de medios reconocidos- se encargaron de tergiversar algĂșn tema), no intentaron imponer sus propios puntos de vista, sino que dijeron lo quĂ© hubiesen preferido, y ÂĄhasta allĂ!, que el espectador se hiciera su propia interpretaciĂłn del final. A su vez, todos estuvieron de acuerdo en que sin importar cĂłmo o dĂłnde, Jamie y Claire serĂan eternos, su historia de amor era infinita, y quĂ© belleza de lectura, porque sĂ, esa es lo que transmiten. Y no es una interpretaciĂłn forzada de la relaciĂłn, de esas que adoptas como alternativa a cosas mal hechas o vacĂas, y en las que tu mente trata de darle cierre a lo que presenciaste; la eternidad de ese amor se siente sĂłlida, porque esa interpretaciĂłn es producto de la construcciĂłn del mismo. Es haber presenciado la vida entera de dos personas que se elegĂan una y otra vez.
Acostumbrada, como estoy, de que se subestime Outlander, dejĂ© de fijarme en cosas rimbombantes, y me quedĂ© en los detalles. Y es aquĂ cuando agradezco haber leĂdo los libros, porque me fascina encontrarme con todas esas pequeñas cosas, y corroborar el cuidado que le han tenido (casi siempre) con lo que presentan, y el magnĂfico trabajo que hacen Sam y Caitriona, interpretando a Jamie y a Claire, y que lo he repetido muchĂsimas veces en este espacio. Pero como lo que me ocupa justo ahora, es el final, voy a traer algo que me maravillĂł, con el extracto del libro y su respectiva imagen en la serie.
"La sangre manaba despacio, oscura y venosa. Yo estaba de rodillas sobre el barro sangriento y habĂa grandes manchas en mi vestido, de un tono negro rojizo. Se sentĂa caliente contra mi piel, aunque eso tal vez se debiera al calor del dĂa. âNo puedes âdije desesperadaâ. Jamie..., no puedes. AbriĂł los ojos y notĂ© que miraba mĂĄs allĂĄ y a travĂ©s de mĂ, como si los estuviera posando en algo muy pero que muy lejano. âPer... dĂłname... âafirmĂł con apenas un hilo de voz, y no supe si me hablaba a mĂ o a Dios. âÂĄOh, JesĂșs! ârespondĂ, sintiendo un sabor metĂĄlico y frĂo en la lenguaâ. Jamie..., por favor. Por favor, no te vayas. Sus pĂĄrpados se agitaron. Y se cerraron".
Por Dios Santo, ÂĄesa mirada de Jamie!. Lo que hizo Sam fue magnĂfico. En el libro, Jamie tiene una mirada que no sĂłlo ve a Claire, sino que la atraviesa y va mĂĄs allĂĄ de ella, y cuando Ă©l pide perdĂłn, ella no sabe si se dirige a ella o a Dios. Como en la serie establecieron que ese era un diĂĄlogo entre ellos, su mirada la atraviesa, pero se queda con ella, en ese instante, ella es el mundo, y explĂcitamente, le pide perdĂłn. Lo que hicieron con estas escenas, de mantenerlas como en el libro, pero darle el sentido apropiado para lo que querĂan contar en la serie, y captar esos pequeños detalles, como la mirada, el tono de la conversaciĂłn, me pareciĂł espectacular. Era el libro cobrando vida, pero a su manera. Y lo de Sam, OMG, quĂ© hermoso que lo hizo. Cait no se queda atrĂĄs con su parte de esta historia.
"Me negaba a soltarlo. Ya no podĂa hablar; no me quedaban fuerzas para ello. Pero no querĂa soltarlo ni moverme de allĂ. Ian me hablaba cada cierto tiempo. Otras voces iban y venĂan. Alarma, preocupaciĂłn, ira, desesperaciĂłn. Ian y Roger. Yo no escuchaba. «Azul. »Tan hermoso. »No estĂĄ vacĂo.» âą âą âą TenĂa la cara apretada contra su pecho, la boca sobre la herida del esternĂłn, el sabor plateado de la sangre y la sal del sudor en la lengua. Me pareciĂł percibir los lentos âmuy lentosâ latidos de su corazĂłn. Bum-bum, bum-bum... PensĂ© en el corazĂłn de Brianna, que latĂa a gran velocidad; en los diminutos y animados golpecitos del de Davy bajo mis dedos; intentĂ© sentir los latidos de mi propio corazĂłn en las yemas de los dedos, traspasar toda esa vida al suyo. «No me sueltes.»"
La forma en la que Caitriona representĂł el duelo y el dolor, de ese momento, fue espectacular, era exactamente el tipo de dolor insoportable que se plasmĂł en el libro, que la atravesaba, pero que se negaba a dejar que la consumiera, hasta que entendiĂł, tal como lo querĂa expresar la serie, que debĂan descansar. En el libro, con todo el misticismo de este momento, el instante en el que Claire logra adentrarse en Jamie, siendo una sola entidad con Ă©l, para insuflarle vida, y sanarlo desde adentro, es cuando se rinde a lo inexplicable de lo que estaba sintiendo, cuando pierde toda conciencia de lo que sucedĂa a su alrededor. Me parece precioso que hayan sido capaces de mantener el sentido del libro, sin dejar de lado lo trascendental del momento. No podrĂa reclamarles que lo hayan dejado en ese momento de abrir ojos y respirar, porque Claire, en el libro, despertĂł desorientada, y Jamie ni siquiera estaba despierto, vivo sĂ, consciente no. Fue un respeto total a lo que el libro querĂa contar, y un respeto a su propia historia, asĂ que sĂ, me quedo con los detalles, y sin ningĂșn hype, me quedo con la forma magistral en la que Sam y Cait, representaron ese momento. Lo siento mucho por las personas que no pudieron disfrutar este final de serie, ni la T8, ni los personajes, ni las actuaciones, ni nada en torno a Outlander, porque es realmente hermosa. Lo bueno de Ă©sto es que ya no la verĂĄn mĂĄs, y que allĂ quedan muchos libros e historias televisadas, a las que pueden asistir sin sentir frustraciĂłn por aquello que no les gusta. En este espacio, Jamie y Claire, serĂĄn eternos, tal como lo entendieron quienes los trajeron a la vida.
Outlander has given us epic phrases and moments; so much so that I can recall them without even looking at the books, because their warmth has touched my heart. I've mentioned this before, but I could read and watch entire episodes of Jamie and Claire talking in bed, because in those moments of profound tenderness, their reflections are often filled with such beauty.
Of all the scripts not directly based on the book, this last episode gave us one of the most beautiful scenes between the two of them, in their bed, with one of the warmest declarations Jamie has ever made to Claire, which I've accompanied with this pair of GIFs made by sdreamersc82
Claire was telling Jamie about a pair of bees she found lying together on a flower. She thought they were dead, but no, they were just asleep, their legs intertwined, and she didn't know if they were resting or waiting for the sun to warm them. Claire thought it was very sweet that the bees were huddled together, and Jamie agreed. From then on, I was completely smitten (I'll say right now that this scene is among my favorites in the entire series) with everything they talked about. They were in that calm state before inevitable, life-changing events, where everything takes on new meaning, and you tell those who share that moment with you things that are deeply hidden in your heart. Claire and Jamie had already been together (and apart) for 37 years by this point, and yet they had things to tell each other and reflect on together. The full beauty of the meaning of that scene transcended when I saw how truly sweet it must have been to see those bees on the flower, as can be seen in the image I share below (credit to its author, I couldn't locate it).
The conversation moves on to other topics, but having watched the episode three times, the way it unfolds still strikes me as the most magical thing, because Claire has the opportunity to express (a) the importance of having built a home, and (b) to tell Jamie that she wasn't sorry for her life, and that she even got what she didn't know she wanted. And there, when she returns his question, telling him that she hoped he also got what he wanted, and he replies that no, he wants to sleep with her on a flower, embracing her with his feet, that's when I truly burst into tears, because it's a metaphor for what's to come. Jamie asks if that's what she wanted, a quiet life living only with the bees, and Claire declares that it wasn't just with them (implying that she wanted him with her, that she wanted her life just as she lived it), and to emphasize her point, she tells him that it seems they weren't meant to live a quiet life. The significance of that statement is immeasurable when I think of all the terrible things they endured. That statement confirms that Outlander is a story of loyalty, resilience, unconditional love, family, home, never giving up, honor, and commitment. I reiterate, it's not a perfect story, but for me, it's the most epic and beautiful love story there is. This doesn't happen in the books, but I acknowledge MBR, who wrote this beautiful script for Jamie and Claire in the series he helped develop.
Jamie and Claire have carried the weight of the world on their shoulders, and the thought of a peaceful life may be their truest longing. Jamie always fought for causes whose ultimate goal was to bring well-being to those around him, and Claire was born to serve. Their personalities alone made them perfect for each other, so life simply brought them together where they were meant to be. That's why I find Bees a beautiful book, because in part, it's about them fulfilling this longing; until a war threatens that possibility, and they must embark on this battle. Season 8 was well-structured in relation to the book because it presented its main events. It introduced the disastrous change we know about and developed the storyline from the cliffhanger. It also developed (with a script by Diana herself) some storylines whose endings we don't know because we don't yet have book 10. I believe they honored the books, and with the ending they chose, they honored the characters. So I'm satisfied. That's why I took all the clickbait headlines with a grain of salt, because I'm sure that the vast majority of the people behind the series are also satisfied.
And so we arrive at this moment. With Claire exhausted from her long vigil around Jamie's body, and him lying in peace. It wasn't for nothing that she said time and again that he should rest, and then, that this is his home (because she is his home) when Roger told her they should take him home to bury his body. There, in that moment, they were like those two bees lying together, who at first thought were dead, but no, they were only resting đ„čđ„čđ„č. It was a beauty I hadn't imagined. Jamie's ghost came to provide Claire with her stage, because in life she told him no, that she didn't regret going to pick those flowers, nor touching the stones, because after that, there was her story, which they showed us in those flashbacks. There, lying in rest, they lived their lives anew, not to change historyâbecause yes, Jamie Fraser diedâbut to change their own little story, because yes, Claire, with her healing power, with her blue aura (and yes, there was blue light), brought the love of her life back; she snatched him from death so that, now, they could live the peaceful life they longed for. It was pure magic and pure poetry, all of it transformed from an event that was already in the book. They gave a true ending and a true closure to a story that has yet to reach its true conclusion.
And here I am, incredibly excited, because Outlander, which I love with all my heart, will have two endings. The happiness I felt early yesterday morning was indescribable, because all I could think about was how beautifully they concluded the series, a beauty I never thought possible, tying everything up perfectly. But what's more, I'll have the chance to experience another ending, the one in the book. And wonderfully, the two stories won't overlap; the ending we saw already happened in the original story, but we still have a journey to explore in the pages of book 10, full of possibilities and the overwhelming certainty that Outlander isn't over yet. I think they've captured a beautiful concept of eternity, where no matter what fate awaits Jamie and Claire, it will be perfect. Long live Outlander.
ABEJAS đđđž
Outlander nos ha dejado frases y momentos, Ă©picos; tantos, que puedo recordarlos sin ir a revisar los libros, porque su calidez se metiĂł en mi corazĂłn. Ya lo habĂa mencionado, pero yo podrĂa leer y ver, episodios enteros de Jamie y Claire, conversando en su cama, porque en esos momentos de extrema ternura, sus reflexiones suelen estar cargadas de muchĂsima belleza.
De todos los guiones que no estĂĄn basados directamente en el libro, este Ășltimo capĂtulo nos regalĂł una de las escenas mĂĄs hermosas de ambos, en su cama, con una de las declaraciones mĂĄs cĂĄlidas que ha hecho Jamie a Claire, y que acompaño con este par de gif de arriba, hechos por sdreamersc82
Claire le contaba a Jamie, acerca de un par de abejas que encontrĂł yaciendo en una flor, juntas, ella pensĂł que estaban muertas, pero no, sĂłlo estaban dormidas, sosteniĂ©ndose por sus patas, y que no sabe si estaban descansando o esperando que saliera el sol para calentarlas. Le pareciĂł muy dulce que estuvieran acurrucadas, y Jamie se lo avala. De allĂ en mĂĄs, yo sĂłlo podĂa estar derretida de amor absoluto (desde ya voy diciendo que esa escena estĂĄ entre mis favoritas de la serie entera) con todo lo que conversaron, porque estaban en ese estado de calma previo a eventos inevitables que cambian la vida, en los que todo cobra un nuevo sentido, y le dices a quienes comparten contigo ese momento, cosas que estĂĄn muy guardadas en tu corazĂłn. Claire y Jamie ya tenĂan, para este momento, 37 años juntos (y separados), y sin embargo, tenĂan cosas que contarse, y que reflexionar juntos. Toda la belleza del significado de esa escena, trascendiĂł cuando vi, cuan efectivamente dulce, debiĂł de ser ver a esas abejas en la flor, tal como se aprecia en la imagen que compartĂ mĂĄs arriba (crĂ©dito a su autor, no pude ubicarlo)
El hilo de la conversaciĂłn pasa por otros temas, pero habiendo visto el capĂtulo ya 3 veces, la manera en la que se teje la misma, me sigue pareciendo la cosa mĂĄs mĂĄgica, porque Claire tiene la oportunidad de manifestar (a) la importancia de haber constituido su hogar, y (b) de decirle a Jamie que no estaba arrepentida de su vida, y que obtuvo incluso lo que no sabĂa que querĂa. Y allĂ, cuando ella le devuelve su pregunta, diciĂ©ndole que esperaba que Ă©l tambiĂ©n haya obtenido lo que querĂa, y Ă©l le responde que no, que quiere dormir con ella en una flor, abrazĂĄndola con sus pies, es cuando realmente rompĂ en llanto, porque es una metĂĄfora de lo que estĂĄ por venir. Jamie pregunta si eso deseaba, tener una vida tranquila viviendo sĂłlo con las abejas y Claire declara que no sĂłlo con ellas (dĂĄndole a entender que lo querĂa a Ă©l con ella, que querĂa su vida tal cual la viviĂł), y para resaltar su punto le dice que al parecer no estaban destinados a vivir una vida tranquila. La trascendentalidad de esa declaraciĂłn, no tiene fin, cuando pienso en todas las cosas terribles que vivieron. Esa declaraciĂłn confirma que Outlander es una historia de lealtad, de resiliencia, de amor incondicional, de familia, de hogar, de no redirse, de honor, de compromiso; lo reitero, no es una historia perfecta, pero es para mĂ, la historia de amor mĂĄs Ă©pica y hermosa que existe. Ăsto no sucede en los libros, pero le reconozco a MBR, que escribiĂł este guiĂłn precioso para Jamie y Claire, en la serie que ayudĂł a desarrollar.
Jamie y Claire, han cargado el peso del mundo sobre sus hombros, y pensar en una vida tranquila puede ser su verdadero anhelo. Jamie siempre luchĂł por causas cuyo fin Ășltimo, era generar bienestar a quiĂ©nes le rodeaban, y Claire naciĂł para servir. Ya sĂłlo por sus carĂĄcteres, estaban hechos el uno para el otro, asĂ que la vida, sĂłlo los puso juntos, allĂ donde debĂan estar. Es por eso que Bees me parece un libro precioso, porque en parte son ellos cumpliendo este anhelo; hasta que una guerra amenaza esa posibilidad, y deben embarcarse en esta batalla. La T8 estuvo bien planteada respecto al libro, porque presentĂł sus eventos principales. Introdujo el cambio nefasto que conocemos, y desarrollĂł la historia planteada a partir del cliffhanger, ademĂĄs desarrollĂł (con guion de la misma Diana), algunas historias de las cuĂĄles no conocemos el desenlace, porque aĂșn no tenemos el libro 10. Yo considero que honraron los libros, y con el final planteado, honraron a los personajes. AsĂ que estoy satisfecha. Por eso todos los titulares de clickbait, me los tomĂ© con cuidado, porque estoy segura que la gran mayorĂa de las personas que estĂĄn detrĂĄs de la serie, tambiĂ©n estĂĄn satisfechas.
Y asĂ llegamos a ese momento cumbre, que vemos mĂĄs arriba. Con Claire agotada por su larga vigilia alrededor del cuerpo de Jamie, y Ă©l, yaciendo en paz. No era en vano que ella decĂa una y otra vez que Ă©l debĂa descansar, y luego, que aquĂ estĂĄ su hogar (porque ella es su hogar) cuando Roger le dijo que debĂan llevarlo a casa para enterrar su cuerpo. AllĂ, en ese momento, ellos eran esas dos abejas que yacian juntas, y que al principio pensaban que estaban muertas, pero no, sĂłlo descansaban đ„čđ„čđ„č. Fue de una belleza, que no imaginĂ©. El fantasma de Jamie, fue a servirle su escenario a Claire, porque en vida ella le dijo que no, que no se arrepentĂa de haber ido a buscar esas flores, ni de haber tocado las piedras, porque despuĂ©s de eso, estaba su historia, la cual nos mostraron en esos flashbacks. AllĂ, yaciendo, en su descanso, vivieron sus vidas de nuevo, no para cambiar la historia, porque sĂ, Jamie Fraser, muriĂł, sino para cambiar su pequeña propia historia, porque sĂ, Claire, con su poder sanador, con su aura azul (y sĂ, sĂ hubo luz azul) trajo al amor de su vida, de vuelta; se lo arrebatĂł a la muerte, para, ahora sĂ, vivir la vida tranquila que anhelaban. Fue pura magia y pura poesĂa, y todo, transformando un evento que estaba en el libro. Le dieron un verdadero final y un verdadero cierre, a una historia que aĂșn no ha firmado su verdadero final.
Y aquĂ estoy, emocionadĂsima, porque de Outlander, que amo con mi corazĂłn, tendrĂ© dos finales. La felicidad que sentĂa ayer en la madrugada, era inexplicable, porque sĂłlo pensaba que habĂan concluido la serie con una belleza que no creĂ posible, poniendo todo en su lugar, pero ademĂĄs, tendrĂ© la posibilidad de asistir a otro final, el del libro. Y de una forma maravillosa, ambas historias no se solaparĂĄn; el final que vimos, ya sucediĂł en la historia original, pero aĂșn nos queda una camino por recorrer en las pĂĄginas del libro 10, lleno de muchas posibilidades y esa enorme certeza de que aĂșn Outlander, no terminĂł. Creo que condensaron un concepto de eternidad, precioso, en el que sin importar cual sea el destino, serĂĄ perfecto para Jamie y Claire. Larga vida para Outlander.
When the stars aligned
Thirty-eight years ago, Diana Gabaldon began to write an epic love story; not because it is perfect, but because it is a lifelong love story of two people who met (like humans find comets), fell in love, and despite the most extreme circumstances, decided to stay together.
Claire and Jamie are not an ordinary couple, and this is not only because they were both endowed with extraordinary gifts, but because they made everyday life, the unfolding of immense or small events, cohabitation, family, the small shared space when they were together, lying in bed, talking, the most intimate and profound portrait of a relationship.
Obviously, they are fictional characters, involved in real and reinterpreted events, taking place in the space and time they have traveled, in which very interesting themes are mixed (or at least for me they are), but in which always, the most important thing, is the two of them and how everything revolves around their thoughts, decisions, actions, emotions, feelings.
Even today, we don't know exactly why Jamie and Claire met, but what is certain is that everything aligned for them to cross paths in 1743. And throughout nine books, their creator shared a vast portion of their experiences, spanning 37-38 years. Even now, I find it impressive how real history unfolded during that period, and how Diana incorporated those events into the story so that Jamie and Claire could become part of it. One might wonder, how did these people manage to be in the right place at the right time to become part of world history? And indeed, a look at many real-life figures throughout history would reveal that they were in the right places at the right time to become the heroes of the books we studied.
So Diana did nothing more than create two extraordinary people, heroes in their own lives and heroes to everyone around them. And despite carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, when they're together, in their little bubble, they're able to shed any label attached to them (to quote one of Jamie's most beautiful reflections). I know Outlander isn't a perfect story, but since I've never approached it with scholarly eyes, I've loved every moment of it, because it has always evoked very intense emotions in me.
And with this extensive personal view of what Ourlander (the books) is, I proceed to declare my eternal love for this story, and to explain why it has always seemed magical to me.
270 years after a pair of fictional characters met, and with the decision already made to create a series based on Diana Gabaldon's books, two unknown actors found each other in a very particular casting call. The male lead had already been chosen, and they were searching for the female lead. A beautiful Irish woman (who I must say I find spectacular) entered the room, with long legs that captivated the male lead (his words, not mine). They were given two scenes (of which we've only seen one), and that was the moment the stars aligned. Never, not in a million years, could we readers have imagined that it was possible to bring Jamie and Claire to life, because no matter how good the actors portraying them were, all the little things that define them as a couple are very difficult to stage. But it turned out that these two unknown actors, with no prior interaction, not only performed an intense scene, but the atmosphere at the casting call exploded with chemistry. They left everyone speechless because, as I mentioned, imagining a Claire and a Jamie in the real world was very difficult, as their bond is hard to replicate. It was official: Sam and Caitriona would be Jamie and Claire, because when the stars align, even the protagonists share similar birthdays with their characters. From then on, the magic continued, because it seemed as if they were acting out a story they felt completely at one with. We don't know the behind-the-scenes realities, but what ended up on screen, and ultimately reached us in the form of episodes, was like seeing the books come to life.
And while I have no facts to back it up, I'm absolutely certain that 100% of the people who watched Outlander for the first time shipped its protagonists, regardless of which faction they belong to today. It was impossible not to, and not precisely because they were scantily clad in some scenes, but because every interaction between them (on or off screen) was (and still is) filled with tiny moments of intimacy that not even the best fictional sex could capture. Because Jamie and Claire's story isn't about sex (which, of course, is a fundamental part of their lives), but about the powerful and transcendent bond they share, which Caitriona and Sam portrayed perfectly.
For me, the way Jamie and Claire portrayed the intimacy of their souls was always magical. And despite all the things being said about the current season, and the dismissive comments I've read about the beautiful book, Bees, I'm still amazed at how, after 13 years, they maintain their bond, their complicity, their intimacy. I watch in awe every gesture, every glance, every touch, in which they both express that transcendent something that unites their characters. But, knowing how complex it is to sustain interpersonal relationships, my astonishment reaches impossible levels when I think about all the commitment and love required to still see your co-star with such admiration, intensity, and devotion after 13 years. It has always amazed me, and will continue to amaze me, to witness in real time how your heart melts in irresistible ways in the presence of another person. What they have isn't something that can be planned, something that can be acted out, something that can't be easily corrupted. That's why I don't even compare it to others, nor do I try to portray it as I would like it to be. For me, it's something pure that deserves nothing but good thoughts, smiles, and good wishes. I don't know what Cait and Sam are like beyond what they've shown in public, but as far as they're concerned, in the bubble I've witnessed all this time, I return the very love they've made me feel, because yes, Outlander fills me with love, and Sam and Cait maximize that love by having been able to sustain the essence of Jamie and Claire through honoring their own bond.
And as I write this long text, waiting for midnight to attend the final chapter of Outlander, I listen to the song that accompanies the edit that Bekah made, in just that verse she chose, and not for a single second have I stopped thinking that, just like Jamie and Claire; Sam and Cait, that "I'm an astronaut, you're the moon, I stare at you" and that "I circle you" also suit them perfectly.
I won't be a prophet of doom, I'm not interested in proving points, I'm not interested in being right. I know what wasn't right, I suffered through it, I processed it, and I arrive here full of faith and hope that Cait and Sam, as they have all this time, will give their best to honor the characters they love. At this point, nothing is about the producers, the writers, a network, or public relations. At this point, for me, it's all about a cast led by two people who inspired them, guided them, cared for them, included them, and loved them for over a decade. I am overflowing with love and pride because Outlander was able to unite people on every continent, from different cultures, around a unique story, and its beauty will endure. This is by no means a fleeting hype; it's a feeling that will transcend time. Long live everyone who made it possible.
De cuando las estrellas se alinearon
Hace 38 años, Diana Gabaldon empezó a escribir una historia de amor, épica; no porque sea perfecta, sino porque es una historia de amor de toda la vida entera, de dos personas que se encontraron (como los seres humanos encontramos a los cometas), se enamoraron, y pese a las circunstancias mås extremas, decidieron permanecer juntos.
Claire y Jamie, no son una pareja comĂșn, y Ă©sto no sĂłlo tiene que ver con que ambos fueron dotados con dones extraordinarios, sino porque ellos hicieron de la cotidianidad, del transcurrir de eventos inmensos o pequeños, de la convivencia, de la familia, del pequeño espacio compartido cuando estaban juntos, acostados en una cama, conversando, el retrato mĂĄs Ăntimo y profundo, de una relaciĂłn.
Obviamente, son personajes ficticios, envueltos en eventos reales y reinterpretados, transcurridos en el espacio y tiempo que han transitado, en los que se mezclan temas interesantĂsimos (o por lo menos para mĂ lo son), pero en los que siempre, lo mĂĄs importante, son ellos dos y como todo orbita en torno a sus pensamientos, decisiones, acciones, emociones, sentimientos.
AĂșn hoy no sabemos, porque Jamie y Claire, se encontraron, pero lo cierto es que todo se alineĂł para que ambos coincidieran en 1743, y a lo largo de 9 libros, su creadora nos compartiera una inmensa parte de sus vivencias, transcurridas en 37-38 años. TodavĂa, hoy dĂa, me parece impresionante el cĂłmo la historia real hizo de las suyas en ese espacio de tiempo, y el cĂłmo, Diana, tomĂł esos eventos, para que Jamie y Claire, formaran parte de ellos. Uno pensarĂa, ÂżcĂłmo es que estas personas estaban justo en el lugar indicado para formar parte de la historia universal?, y pues, una mirada a muchos de los personajes reales de la historia de la humanidad, nos harĂa percatarnos de que ellos estuvieron en los lugares indicados, para convertirse en los hĂ©roes de los libros con los que estudiamos.
AsĂ que Diana no hizo mĂĄs que, crear a dos personas extraordinarias, que son los hĂ©roes de sus propias vidas, y los hĂ©roes en la vida de todos los que los orbitan. Y que pese a tener todo el peso del mundo sobre sus hombros, ellos dos, cuando estĂĄn juntos, en su pequeña burbuja, son capaces de despojarse de todo nombre que se les atribuya (citando una de las reflexiones mĂĄs hermosas que hizo Jamie, alguna vez). SĂ© que Outlander no es una historia perfecta, pero como jamĂĄs la he visto con ojos de erudita, la he amado cada instante, porque a mĂ, particularmente, siempre me ha hecho sentir emociones muy intensas.
Y con esta extensa visión personal de lo que es Ourlander (los libros), paso a declarar mi amor eterno por esta historia, y a explicar el porqué siempre me ha parecido, mågica.
270 años despuĂ©s de que un par de personajes ficticios, se encontraran, y ya habiĂ©ndose tomado la decisiĂłn de crear una serie a partir de los libros de Diana Gabaldon, un par de actores desconocidos, se consiguieron en un casting muy particular, en el que el protagonista ya habĂa sido seleccionado, y se encontraban buscando a la protagonista. En la habitaciĂłn entrĂł una hermosa irlandesa (que debo decir que a mĂ me parece espectacular), con unas piernas largas que atraparon al protagonista (sus palabras, no las mĂas). Les dieron dos escenas (de las cuales, sĂłlo hemos visto una), y ese fue el momento en el que se alinearon las estrellas. Nunca, ni en un millĂłn de años, los lectores nos hubiĂ©semos podido imaginar que era posible traer a Jamie y a Claire, a la vida, porque por muy buenos que fueran los actores que los representaran, todas las pequeñas cosas que los definen como pareja, son muy difĂciles de poner en escena. Pero resultĂł que esos dos actores desconocidos, sin interacciĂłn mutua, previa a ese dĂa, no sĂłlo interpretaron una escena intensa, sino que el ambiente en ese casting, explotĂł, de tanta quĂmica que habĂa entre ellos. Dejaron a todos sin habla, porque tal como lo mencionĂ©, pensar en una Claire y un Jamie, en el mundo material, era muy difĂcil, porque ellos tienen un vĂnculo difĂcil de emular. Era oficial, Sam y Caitriona serĂan Jamie y Claire, porque cuando las estrellas se alinean, hasta los protagonistas comparten con sus personajes, fechas de cumpleaños, cercanas. De allĂ en mĂĄs, siguiĂł la magia, porque parecĂa que ellos estaban actuando una historia con la que se sentĂan fluir. No sabemos las realidades de los trascĂĄmaras, pero lo que quedaba plasmado en pantalla, y finalmente, llegaba a nosotros en forma de capĂtulos, era como estar viendo los libros, cobrando vida.
Y aunque no tengo hechos que lo respaldan, estoy absolutamente segura de que el 100% de las personas que vieron Outlander por primera vez, shippearon a sus protagonistas, sin importar la facciĂłn a la que pertenezcan hoy dĂa. Era imposible no hacerlo, y no precisamente porque estaban con muy poca ropa en algunas escenas, sino porque cada interacciĂłn entre ellos (dentro o fuera de la pantalla), estaba (y lo sigue estando) llena de pequeñĂsimos instantes de intimidad, que ni el mejor sexo ficticio, podrĂa atrapar. Porque la historia de Jamie y Claire no es sobre sexo (que claro que es una parte fundamental de sus vidas), sino del vĂnculo poderoso y trascendental que tienen, y que Caitriona y Sam, nos mostraron a la perfecciĂłn.
Para mĂ siempre fue mĂĄgica la forma en la que ellos podĂan representar la Intimidad del alma, que tenĂan Jamie y Claire. Y pese a todas las cosas que se dicen de la temporada que estamos presenciando, y a los comentarios displicentes que he leĂdo del hermoso libro que es Bees, me sigue maravillando el cĂłmo, luego de 13 años, ellos siguen conservando su vĂnculo, su complicidad, su intimidad. Asisto maravillada, a cada gesto, a cada mirada, a cada toque, en los que ambos expresan esa cosa trascendental que une a sus personajes. Pero, sabiendo lo complejo que es sostener las relaciones interpersonales, mi asombro llega a cotas imposibles cuando pienso en todo el compromiso y amor que se requiere para que, despuĂ©s de 13 años, sigas viendo a tu coprotagonista con tal nivel de admiraciĂłn, intensidad y entrega, con la que se ven ellos dos. Siempre me maravillĂł y me seguirĂĄ maravillando, presenciar en tiempo real, lo que es que tu corazĂłn se derrita de maneras irresistibles, en presencia de otra persona. Lo que ellos dos tienen, no es algo que se planee, no es algo que se actĂșe, no es algo que pueda corromperse fĂĄcilmente. Por eso ni siquiera lo comparo, ni trato de mostrarlo como yo quisiera que fuera. Para mĂ es algo puro que lo Ășnico que merece es buenos pensamientos, sonrisas, buenos deseos. No sĂ© como sean Cait y Sam mĂĄs allĂĄ de lo que han mostrado en pĂșblico, pero en lo que respecta a ellos, en la burbuja que he presenciado todo este tiempo, les devuelvo el mismĂsimo amor que me han hecho sentir, porque sĂ, Outlander me llena de amor, y Sam y Cait maximizan ese amor, por haber sido capaces de sostener la escencia de Jamie y Claire, a travĂ©s del honrar a su propio vĂnculo.
Y mientras escribo este extenso texto, esperando la medianoche para asistir al capĂtulo final de Outlander, escucho la canciĂłn que acompaña la ediciĂłn que hizo Bekah, en justo esa estrofa que escogiĂł, y ni un sĂłlo segundo, he dejado de pensar que, tal como Jamie y Claire; a Sam y Cait, les va perfecto tambiĂ©n ese "Soy un astronauta, eres la luna, te veo fijamente" y ese "Te protejo".
No serĂ© profeta de desastres, no me interesa demostrar puntos, no me interesa tener razĂłn. SĂ© lo que no estuvo bien, lo sufrĂ, lo drenĂ© y llego aquĂ llena de fe y esperanza de que Cait y Sam, como todo este tiempo, darĂĄn lo mejor de sĂ para honrar a esos personajes que aman. En este punto, nada es sobre los productores, sobre los guionistas, sobre un canal o sobre relaciones pĂșblicas. En este punto, para mĂ, todo es sobre un elenco liderado por dos personas que los inspiraron, los guiaron, los cuidaron, los integraron y los quisieron por mas de una dĂ©cada. Estoy desbordada en amor y orgullo, porque Outlander fue capaz de unir personas en cada continente, con culturas diferentes, en torno a una historia irrepetible, y su belleza perdurara en el tiempo. De ninguna manera es un hype efĂmero, es todo un sentimiento que trascenderĂĄ el tiempo. Larga vida a todos lo que la hicieron posible.
Outlander - S08X09
For anyone who still doubts that Diana Gabaldon is the mastermind behind Outlander, know that she just wrote a chapter in which she makes a resounding declaration: these characters are exactly as I wrote them, and no matter how they've tried to twist this story, in the penultimate chapter I'm going to make it clear that this is the true meaning of what I wrote. And no, Claire isn't missing; Claire is exactly where she's meant to be. I will love Outlander, forever and ever.
Outlander T8X9
A quien le quede alguna duda de que Diana Gabaldon es la mente maestra detrĂĄs de Outlander, sepan que acaba de escribir un capĂtulo en el cual hace una declaraciĂłn rotunda de: estos personajes son como yo los escribĂ y no importa la vuelta que le hayan querido dar a esta historia, en el penĂșltimo capĂtulo voy a dejar claro que este es el sentido real de lo que yo escribĂ. Y no, Claire no estĂĄ desaparecida, Claire estĂĄ en dĂłnde debe estar. AmarĂ© Outlander, por siempre y para siempre.
âââBELTANE âââ
This is the first difference between the series and the book. In the book, Claire travels at Beltane, while in the series, she travels at Samhain (this is due to the start of filming). Her being there at Samhain was perfect for the ghost storyline; however, in the book, the ghost was also present, because all of Scotland is a mythical place. Will we learn anything about the ghost in the series? Will Diana actually tell us at the end of the book? It's a genuine question. It has always intrigued me because, over the years, fans have proposed many theories, yet Diana herself said that no one had been right so far, so it remains a great mystery.
____________________________________________
Esta es la primera diferencia entre la serie y el libro. En el libro, Claire viaja en Beltane y en la serie, viaja en Samhain (esto debido al inicio de la filmaciĂłn de la serie). Lo de que estuviera justo en Samhain, fue perfecto para la trama del fantasma; sin embargo en el libro, el fantasma tambiĂ©n estaba allĂ, porque Escocia, entera, es un lugar mĂtico. ÂżSabremos algo del fantasma, en la serie?, ÂżDiana realmente nos lo dirĂĄ al final del libro? es una duda honesta. Siempre me ha intrigado, porque a lo largo de los años, los fanĂĄticos han propuesto muchas teorĂas, sin embargo, la misma Diana dijo que nadie habĂa acertado hasta ahora, asĂ que es un gran misterio.
A PROPOSAL FOR ABSOLUTE SILENCE
I want to give my deepest and most wholesome advice, based on my knowledge of the background of narcissism.
Faced with the waves of speculation, explanations, and analysis to come, the best way to neutralize everything is to ignore the narcissist.
Obviously, this person has an interest in being relevant; she needs to be relevant, and she seeks out husbands to be relevant. No one should talk about her, no one should analyze her behavior, no one should analyze the behavior of those around her, and no one should look for explanations. Simply let everything she leaks stay where it was allowed to.
The narcissist who is treated as a nobody disappears on his own, and goes to look for another object to attract attention, but definitely, falling for the provocations is giving him the importance she is desperately seeking to have.
UNA PROPUESTA DE SILENCIO ABSOLUTO
Quiero dar mi mĂĄs profundo y sano consejo, desde el conocimiento del trasfondo del narcisismo.
Ante las olas de especulaciones, explicaciones, y anĂĄlisis por venir, la mejor manera de neutralizar todo, es ignorando al narcisista.
Obviamente, esta persona tiene un interés en ser relevante, ella requiere ser relevante, busca sus maridos para ser relevante. Nadie hable de ella, nadie analice su conducta, nadie analice la conducta de su entorno, ni busquen explicaciones, simplemente que todo lo que filtra, se quede en el lugar en el que le dieron cabida.
Al narcisista que se le trata como un cero a la izquierda, desaparece solo, y va a buscar otro objeto para llamar la atenciĂłn, pero definitivamente, caer en las provocaciones, es darle la importancia que desesperadamente, estĂĄ buscando tener.
âPerhaps I am pretentious in saying so, but I would like to think that I am not âmany menâ and that I dinna necessarily place my behavior at the lowest common denominator.â Happy Birthday James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser! âł May 1, 1721
The most beautiful, amazing and loyal character that could ever exist. JAMMF, the perfect man đđđđ. Claire, I and thousands of other people, love you. Happy Birthday.
â SAM HEUGHAN as Jamie Fraser and CHARLES VANDERVAART as William Ransom in Outlander 8.08 (2014-2026)
From the very first day William existed, in the books and then in the series, what I've repeatedly dreamed of is him becoming a part of Jamie's life and the whole family's, aware of his origins, free, and by choice.
And this is why this will be one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and I eagerly await book 10.
Desde el dĂa 1 de la existencia de William, en los libros, y luego en la serie, lo que recurrentemente he soñado, es que Ă©l forme parte de la vida de Jamie y toda la familia, en conocimiento de su origen, en libertad y por convicciĂłn.
Y esta es la razĂłn por la cuĂĄl, esta serĂĄ de mis escenas favoritas de la serie entera, y espero con ansias el libro 10.
