summary:
Jason’s line of work felt like an inevitability to him; his life had always orbited around crime and violence. Before Bruce, it was purely for survival. After Bruce, it became something with much more purpose. Either way, it was the route that seemed to make the most sense to him — he didn’t think he was ever really destined for normality.
Then he meets Sydney, a college student who unknowingly reminds him of the life he could have had if things had been different. Jason begins imagining a life beyond rooftops and violence, but when the world he knows manages to reach her, he’s forced to confront the reality that the life he’s accepted for himself could hurt the people he never intended to let get caught up in it.
