Oh my god, the lines about covert narcissism disguised as altruism cut so deep..
Iāve finally watched Three Thousand Years Of Longing and Iām obsessed with the cinematography and the way itās cut. The picture is breathtaking, the timing is precise. And Tilda Swinton is, of course, as always a goddess.
Truth be told, as a person with linguistic background, I was especially tickled by the main characterās professional field, as well as some her insights. Others, however, were not as fun. Especially when the heroine said that literary people donāt know anything (Iām paraphrasing a bit). I truly believe this stereotype should stop being perpetuated.
But enough rambling. Watch the movie if you havenāt yet. Itās a tale of love and choice and myth. Great for the holiday season.
Ā·Ā·Ā·
Itād been an honoured tradition of mine to write a post here whenever Iām feeling down. I neglected it for quite a while but now I feel itās time to return to my roots so to speak.Ā
I actually feel guilty about posting anything here when it seems like the world is on fire and people are dying every day in this senseless war. However, Iāve made a commitment to put myself first regardless.
What Iāve been pondering lately is what I would like to do with my life. And at 27 I still donāt have a clue. Itās like everybody around me has dreams, and Iām just riding along with the stream. I left behind my scholarly and political aspirations, and Iām trying new things, but Iām no closer to finding an answer other than Ā«I wanna do something creativeĀ». I know that eventually Iāll come to something, but this is just so frustrating and the process seems never-ending.
Of course, everything is exacerbated by the situation we find ourselves in this year. When every day seems like theyāre trying to take the last bit of freedom we had. When we are afraid to speak without euphemisms, because truth can send you to jail. When opportunities are closing one by one, and youāre left scared and isolated.
Nature around Saint-Petersburg, Russia is truly majestic. Made these photos last winter and stumbled upon them in my gallery recently (should really clean that thing up).

How have you been? You haven't posted much lately... hope everything is ok.
Iām great actually. Iāve been meaning to post something for a while now, but last year was crazy, so I was putting it off.
Christmas is all around me and Moscow is very beautiful this time of year.

Blood Below the SkinĀ (Jennifer Reeder, 2015)
Itās been a really long time since I'veĀ last posted something. So, Iāve decided that itās high time I rectify this. First off, a lot, and I mean a LOT has changed since last time I made a post here. For oneĀ thing, Iāve finally graduated from university. Another important piece of news is that Iāve finally moved out from my parents, and am now living in another city with my sister looking for a job.Ā
The whole thing is new and exciting and terrifying as hell! For the first time in my life, Iām all on my own (the sister doesnāt really count). To tell the truth, I wanted to continue my education. I still do. The problem is, I didnāt get in. So, I have a year to lose, if, of course, the university which was my first choice doesnāt reopen. If it does Iām gonna work my ass off to get in. For now, however, I have to find a respectable job, preferably not serving fries McDonaldās, and try not to forget everything Iāve learned in the past years.Ā
For some reason, at the moment everything feels a lot like the first time in summer camp. Especially the part where you cry and for your mom. Only this camp lasts much longer and no one forced me to go here. Well, and the whole responsibility thing. Like I said, terrifying.Ā
But I do hope, strike that, I KNOW that everything will turn out just great. Iāll just have to make some effort.Ā

I've recently stumbled upon this amazing group who do covers of modern hit songs in different styles from the first half of the twentieth century. An this is one of the best things I've ever heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItXygU9SJCA&feature=share

Twin Peaks (2017)
This is exactly how I feel about the new season of Twin Peaks. Hope that by the end of it, I'll grasp at least half of it. However, knowing David Lynch, I sincerely doubt that. Anyway the start of the season was amazing, so I'm really looking forward to the rest of it. āļø
