Heyy! I'm new here. And I really need some tips. I'm a werecoyote and it's getting stronger. But I'm in the psychiatric clinic rn and for another two weeks. I can't just let myself become the coyote. Not even a small howl may slip out. No mistakes. The only privacy is when I lock myself into the bathroom. And even then they would hear my howls.
I'm really sorry, but idk how to help you there. You could try doing less noticeable coyote things if that's possible? something obvious and tbh probably not helpful would be just try to focus on whatever you're doing there at the facility and get through it best you can (I just realized idek when this was asked, or if you're even out by now... anyway π)
in some ways, I do understand. Maybe not with related to how you experience therianthropy, if you address it as such. However, I can relate to being in a psychiatric facility. Yes, it sucks. Yes, I hated it. Yes, i wanted so badly to leave. but the sad truth is there was nothing big that i could really do to help. honestly (this may or may not help, but), let's go back to the suggestion of some more "subtle" behaviors.
1) if possible or comfortable, you could always sleep kind of curled up, sorta like the fetal position, you can throw some blankets down on your bed if you have any and if you dont wanna be seen, you can just cover yourself with a blanket too.
(big rant, you dont have to read this; optional paragraph)
2) honestly what I learned about being in a psych ward specifically, not just a residential or anywhere with more "freedom", is that the patients really likely wont care. like everybody there is pretty weird and messed up too. while there was some dumb 11-year-old there (for reasons not exactly known) who HATED me for some reason. idk she was a swiftie but not a chill one, like she was OBSESSED and she hated on everyone else's music taste 'cus it wasn't some girly pop songs made by Taylor Swift or Gracie Abrams (idk how to spell it, i forgot) also big rant lol sorry you can skip this
basically, (TL:DR) psych ward patients likely dont care 'cus they're also scrambly-brained, some are bad and some are mean but in my experience most were decent
3) If you feel phantom tail ever, what I hear a lot of people do is they will kinda swing their foot to mimic a tail moving. What I also can recommend from going off of that, is you could swing your arm too (or arms) by your side while sitting or walking, its nice to have some movement or just to stim a bit
4) tbh, it sounds like maybe you cant do any vocals? maybe not loud ones, or you cant stop yourself if you start, but whatever it is, maybe if you dont feel comfortable or safe, try to just stay away from vocals if you need to
5) eat with your hands bro (lmao) like honestly eating without utensils is kinda fun but for some things it is a bit weird. like salad is neutral territory, if you eat it with dressing, I'd say no-go but up to you. any bread, most often it's safe. any liquids or jelly-type-stuff, likely dangerous and I wouldn't recommend. Food items that already are generally considered "finger food" or i guess, idk... would alterhumans (like therians, otherkin, etc.) call it paw food?? i mean if you have claws (or a beak) you could call it "claw food" (LMAO) (or beak food?? ig that's weird and im off-topic again)
anyway yeah lol hope you're doing alright, hope you get better, and i hope you're out by now or are gonna be soon !!! hope i helped and if i didn't, maybe it'll help someone else. ^^ bye bye guys cya laterrr
yall are free to reblog and comment, add more tips if you have any, thanks :P
