Lately I have been pretty busy with finding a job.
I have applied to at least over twenty places so far and have gotten one actual email response. How hard is it to email me back and say "yes we would like to interview your" or a "sorry your application doesn't meet our standards." At this point a simple "no we're not gonna interview or hire you" would be way better than radio silence.
The amount of times I have called the places I've applied and walked in to ask about my application and I have gotten told " actually we're not hiring rn" or "we haven't looked at applications yet" is insane. Take down your hiring post on ziprecruiter and indeed if your not hiring the role anymore. Have HR email me saying "sorry where not hiring anymore" so I'm not waisting my time worrying about this job and I can use that energy and time to apply to other ones.
And it's almost impossible for the new generations to get jobs due to radio silence whether you get an interview or not. You can't just take your resume into a store or place of work and hand it to them, the only way to apply is online so they can ignore you unless you shine like gold to them or are lucky enough that they actually read the application.
And I would think that more places would be hiring late July since school starts back up next month and the teenagers who got summer jobs are either quitting or going part time. It's insane that so many people are getting over worked in the job force for minimum pay, and the company notices this and still won't hire anyone new.
Sorry for the long rant, this has been bothering me for at least 3 weeks now. And has been occupying my mind and mental health for a while. I just need to complain and put it out there that this is upsetting.
I want to add an update to this. I applied randomly as a dog groomer at a chain pet store. And they hired me. I never saw my self in this career. I did want to be a vet, or shelter worker, and for a bit I wanted to be a hair stylist. Never once considered pet grooming. I took a leap and landed. It gets better. Just keep trying.
