Hendrick is a very complex character for sure and it’s canon that he has had issues in the past dealing with his mother’s emotional and physical abuse.

i feel like this fact shapes a lot of his behavior toward reagents and even Irene. personally i relate to the two ways eastermans issues with his mother impact him. on one hand he craves and yearns to be a father figure. give unconditional parental love to others. he wants to give his reagents what he never had but i don’t think it comes from the fact he cares that deeply. i think it’s more performative for himself and he doesn’t realize it. he wants to feel like he is capable of giving that love. he may believe he means it but i do think it’s more of a test for himself.

Is it safe to say that Easterman is suicidal? Or at least has some kind of passive suicidal ideation. I mean not unpleasant is a great example of that—but I feel like the new trailer with him speaking to Coyle face to face is also kinda making me raise a brow. He’s putting himself into like an INCREDIBLY dangerous situation- high risk, no reward- for seemingly no reason???

But then when he turns the light off, the wheelchair user turns his lamp on. When Mary hits The Pirate with the concrete piece, he yells in pain. Clark consoles The Pirate as though its feelings might be hurt. And when the memory of his wife sees The Pirate, she tries desperately to get away.

Hey Maybe I'm crazy, but does anyone notice Coyle's burn marks getting...like worse? They look more charred than red like usual?

I just think that's a cool detail how you can see his scars progressively get worse. I wonder if his face and stuff will turn into a like Leland Coyle x Harvey "Two-Face" Dent mixture.

Btw to all the artists who draw coyle, I love it when you draw his teeth showing on his burn side. It's literally my favorite. And ngl I kinda wish that this is true so that we can get a cool even more burned coyle monstrosity.

Mind you this is the 50s-60s so Ugly laws and people with disfigurements, ESPECIALLY in small towns or rural areas/states. So ,if theoretically, when lathe ended and Sinyala was abandoned or shut down IF, they didn't kill the primes and just let them go or send them to facilities, coyle would definitely be thrown into mount massive or be forced out of blackwater/his Sargent position for simply his disfigurement and then his whole 'im a cop' spiel goes down the shit shoot.

Now I'm starting to wonder if the reason why, in terms of timing, when Easterman had Clyde perry start finding and recruiting the prime assets, if in a way all the prime assets were perfect but all on the brink of losing everything. Gooseberry, in the psych ward, Franco having the feds catch up to him or even being ratted out by his father or fellow mobsters, and coyles murders as well as his kinks of electricity catching up to him and because of more and more scars, he was gonna be 'let go' for a multitude of reason.
