Eyes roll and that god awful edge sets in. He hasn’t slept in two days, has five booked surgeries following this meeting, and not once through it all has he had the chance to stop and indulge his vices and clear the mind. Steinman smells the cigarette– GOD the disinfectant– and suddenly his mouth feels horridly dry. 

“Well it’s damn rude, isn’t it?” And then… Silence. He lets it set in while hoping for either Ryan or Cohen to enter behind. No such luck. He feels jittery. “Doctor Tenenbaum. Have you ever been told that you have quite striking features? Why, a nip here, a tuck there– something to accentuate them, and I daresay I could have Rapture at your feet.”

Rude. A low hum escapes Tenenbaum's throat as the only form of response as she stubbed out her cigarette in one of the ashtrays on the table. She had never been one for understanding human behaviours, but even she could not miss the air of anxiousness permeating from Steinman. What was he in such a rush for, she had to wonder.

“It’s good to see that I’m not the only one to arrive early.” Steinman sniffs, sitting to attention in the presence of another– the council’s chairs vacant save for his own. “ You’d think the others would be so courteous. I’ve consultations, patients! It’s MADNESS that Ryan would think my time so malleable.”

...that moment when someone fucked you up so badly that you can't return to even the same genre after 2+ years. I was going to bring back a muse I love. I set her up. Worked on tags. Was absolutely enamoured with bringing her back and it hit me, suddenly, that the insane fuck who is the reason I no longer trust people online is still around. I saw them post, someone I follow and adore playing with them on the dash. And it all came rushing back. I can never return to something I love because they ruined it for me. I'll never be able to trust anyone in this particular fandom, would never be able to go back to the broad community because I'm waiting for them in the fucking shadows.
