Intention, Intention, Intention - What is your intention?
It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Muâminin, Abu Hafs âUmar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu âanhu, who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu âalayhi wasallam, say: âActions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated.â [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

Q 1: A young lady wants to wear Niqab (face veil), knowing that it is Fard (obligatory, based on a definitive text), but her parents refuse and tell her that her obedience to them is also a Fard that takes precedence over wearing Niqab. Are the parents right? Does this mean that she should abandon wearing Niqab? How could this be in accordance with the Messenger's saying,Â
"Anyone who turns away from my Sunnah is not one of my (followers)."Â
Moreover, even though Niqab is Wajib (obligatory, based on a speculative text), it is known that Fard is the same as Wajib according to the Four Schools of Jurisprudence, except for that of Imam Malik who maintained that Wajib comes in intermediate status between Fard and Nafilah (supererogatory). Kindly give us your Fatwa in this regard. If wearing Niqab is Fard, how can this girl abide by that obligation, while her father threatens to pull her Niqab off in public if he sees her wearing it. He takes this attitude because he thinks that wearing Niqab will jeopardize the girl's brothers.
A:Â It should be known that obedience to parents is obligatory provided that what they request is reasonable and approved by the Shari`ah (Islamic law). If obedience to parents leads to committing sins, then there should be no obedience to them. It is authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
"Truly, obedience is only in what is good."
Therefore, the girl should stick to wearing the Niqab, and try to convince her parents by explaining the legal ruling, without being bothered by their threats. Furthermore, she should always seek Allah's Help and the help of the pious relatives within the family who can advise them, so that Allah may benefit them with such advice.
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Mixing or Withdrawing for Gain It is reported that Wahb b. Munabbih â AllÄh have mercy on him â used to say: The believer mixes with others in order to learn, keeps quiet to keep safe (from sinning), speaks in order to understand, and secludes himself for the attainment (of good).
Ibn AbÄŤ Al-DunyÄ, Al-âUzlah article 99.
"Wahabi-ism: The Label"
Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) said:Â
This label is wrong with regard to wording, and with regard to the meaning.Â
With regard to wording, that is because the daâwah is not being attributed to the one who started it, namely Shaykh Muhammad, rather it is being attributed to âAbd al-Wahhaab, who had nothing to do with it. The proper name for it would be al-Daâwah al-Muhammadiyyah (âthe Muhammadan callâ). Â
But these opponents realized that this would be a good name that would not put anyone off, so they changed it to this distorted name.Â
With regard to the meaning, that is because this daâwah did not drift away from the way of the righteous salaf, namely the Sahaabah, Taabiâeen and their followers. So it should rightly be called the Salafi daâwah, because the one who founded it did not introduce any innovation in that which was named after him, as the promoters of misguided sects such as the Ismailis and Qarmatiyyah introduced innovations. If those misguided sects had called themselves salafis, the people and the historical record would have rejected this name, because they are outside the path of the salaf and were introduced by their founders.Â
The correct name, both in wording and meaning, for the call of Shaykh Muhammad ibn âAbd al-Wahhaab is the Muhammadan daâwah or the Salafi daâwah.Â
But because this name annoys the enemies, they used an incorrect name. Therefore the word Wahhaabi was not known among the followers of the Shaykh, and it is their opponents who gave them this offensive nickname. Indeed, they gave this name to everyone who follows the way of the salaf, even in India, Egypt, Africa and elsewhere. By giving it this label, its opponents wanted to isolate the daâwah from the right path. So they excluded it from the four madhhabs and counted it as a fifth madhhab, âout of envy from their ownselves, even after the truth has become manifest unto themâ (al-Baqarah 2:109).

Ibn Taymiyyah said:âThe Heart does not cease being put to trial until the slave makes all his religion for Allaah.â[Al-Fataawaa: 10:545]
Basic Principles
Relying on the Holy Qurâaan and the saheeh Sunnah as the primary sources of legislation.
Keenness to adhere to the way of the righteous Salaf, namely the Sahaabah, Taabiâeen, the four imams and those who followed them.
Calling people to Tawheed and rejection of shirk.
Affirming that which Allah has affirmed for Himself and denying that which He has denied for Himself with regard to the divine names and attributes.
Rejection of fanaticism in following imams and calling for adherence to the truth based on evidence.
Promotion of the Sunnah and fighting innovation.Â
How are the righteous to be during times of fitnah and calamity?
When Yusuf(Alayhi Salaam) was tried by imprisonment from the Ruler, what did he do?
When Musa(Alayhi Salaam) was commanded to go and speak to the Pharoah, who had enslaved and killed many of his people, what did he do?
When the companions were killed in Mekkah during the first period(Before the Hijra), what did the prophet(SalAllahu Alehi Wasalaam) do?
When Mayram umm Eesa(May Allah be pleased with her) was tested by the slandering of her people, and their evil suspicions of her, what did she do?
I ask this, because it is as if we have forgotten what the believer is supposed to do when something of trials hit us. We are to be patient. We are supposed to look inwardly and see why this trial maybe befalling us(other than it being the Qadr of Allah) and correct ourselves.
However, today, the Muslims have left this off. Do not think, May Allah bless you, because people are dying that now the command of Sabr, has left? It is during these times we must have the utmost patience and return to our homes and seek the forgiveness of our lord. We have forgotten this.
Nothing and no one has shamed us except by Allahâs permission and our own actions. Muslims all over the world have left off the Sunnah and this is what has humiliated us. Not oppressive rulers, not the Kuffar, it is us. The free mixing occurs, why? Because weâve left the Sunnah. Muslims are dancing at weddings and mixing with the females and listening to music, why? Because we have left the Sunnah. Muslims are following different methodologies that have been innovated into the deen! THIS is why we are shamed.
The fitnah that is occurring all over the Muslim world is because we are not patient. We have not humbled ourselves. Instead of submitting to the will of Allah and being patient, we run out in the streets, shout and yell for a âKhilafaâ but we cant even get a Khilafa in our own homes? Have we lost our minds? If the ruler is corrupt do you think Allah will aid you if you go out, riot, mix with the women, and shout? Those who are better than you and I, did not do this and they were tried worse than us.
Allah will not change the position of a people until they change what is within themselves. Ponder this.
^ May Allah guide and forgive us all.
I guess history does repeat itself!

Trimming Beard
Shaykh Muhammad al-âUthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Cutting anything from the beard goes against the command of the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who said: âLeave the beard aloneâ, âLet the beard grow,â etc. Whoever wants to follow the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and follow his teaching should not remove anything from his beard at all, because the teaching of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is that nothing should be removed from the beard. This was also the way of the Prophets before him.Â
Fataawa Ibn âUthaymeen, 11/126.Â
Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Whoever quotes the action of Ibn âUmar (may Allaah be pleased with him) to show that he used to cut whatever of his beard was longer than the âhandfulâ during Hajj cannot use this as evidence, because this is ijtihaad on the part of Ibn âUmar (may Allaah be pleased with him), and proof is to be found in reports (from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)), not from ijtihaad. The scholars (may Allaah have mercy on them) clearly stated that the reports from the Sahaabah and those who came after them that are proven to be sound are what constitute evidence and proof, and they take precedence over any opinion if it goes against the Sunnah. Â
Fataawa wa Maqaalaat al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 8/370.Â
Shaykh âAbd al-Rahmaan ibn Qaasim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Some scholars granted a concession allowing removal of whatever is longer than the âhandfulâ, based on the actions of Ibn âUmar, but most of the scholars regard that as makrooh. This is more correct, for the reasons stated above. Al-Nawawi said: The preferred view is that the beard should be left as it is and should not be shortened in any way at all⌠and it says inal-Durr al-Mukhtaar: with regard to cutting it any shorter than the âhandfulâ, no one said that this is permissible.
Essay Tahreem Halq al-Lahyah (Prohibition on shaving the beard), p.11.Â
