I believe the last time I was on this platform, I was 27, unemployed and trying to figure out my life. Now I'm 29! Employed, and still trying to figure out my life. I guess the last part never changes huh, I was talking to Anoop yesterday about we all never really feel like adults. He mentioned he wakes up everyday thinking he's 15 years old, and for a sweet fleeting moment he is a kid again. I thought that was nice and gives one something to look forward to.
I've recently gotten promoted at my job, so I'm no longer mid. I wonder what being a senior engineer means, I don't feel any different. Maybe it gives me permission to be more vulnerable with my team, I'm already pretty vulnerable with them I think

i bonded with @sarah and @eric and @rosie and @grant and @cameron during railsconf and the seattle onsite. you would think that a couple of days of hanging out isn't a huge deal. but i think bonds are the foundations of resilience. and i wouldn't have gotten promoted if i wasn't resilient

i felt fear and did it anyway, am i saying i was a delicate little flower that got scared when bothering people for things at work? yes that's exactly what im saying. now i still get scared to ask people for things but ill do it anyway
the people i work with see me and my efforts, and they tell me about it
i talked to people everyday because i embraced that coding is not silo'd work. shoutout to my birthday twin @alejandro! for the year that we were working together it was awesome and productive and i learned so fucking much because i was comfortable asking questions and looking stupid
